In Goseiger, the logic behind his form changes was clear -- he was manipulating the various new villain groups, and synthesizing their strengths into his own being. To me, the only reason to keep Vrak's original form around is so kids don't get confused when they tune in and see he looks vaguely different. Which reads to me as yet another instance of Saban treating kids like idiots. |
That for me is the crucial failing of Megaforce as a show. Hate Samurai as much as you like, but because it stuck so close to Shinkenger, most of what made Shinkenger great was still there in Samurai just in a weaker, watered down form.
Megaforce did exactly what Samurai did to Shinkenger, then just bizarrely took out every single plot detail. So they followed the vague outline of the episodes they take the footage from, then remove all context until it's meaningless. Megaforce was literally about nothing. |

Megaforce has its flaws, but I honestly don't feel the handling of Vrak's forms was one of them. |
Finished Go-Onger for the 7th time and watching Go-Busters for 5,th time.

Epic 48.
Wow, it's been a LONG time since we've had an episode this incredible. Whoever says Alata is a bad Red is a fucking liar, he was just AMAZING in this episode. His fight with Gosei Knight was beyond epic, and his final declaration and the ultimate resolution of the battle reminded me why I love this show so goddamn much. It would have been perfect if it wasn't for Eri's singing and the boring Gosei Ultimate fight they used to pad the episode. |

My feeling about Goseiger is that they went into the series with some really good world building & character ideas (I.E., the Burajira twist, a cool mythology, an interesting dynamic with the paired-off duos on the team) and a badass ending. But they didn't have much of a story planned to get us to that ending. So they had to improvise the middle of the series, to varying degrees of success. Ultimately, that leaves the show feeling very uneven, even if it's really enjoyable for the most part. And yes. Everyone is wrong about Alata. He is a badass, and the fact that he doesn't look badass makes him even cooler. You don't want to get me started on why I think everyone hates him. |
I still think the opening Warstar section was the best, it had strong character focus, great world building, epic villains, incredible fights and barely a lick of filler.
I do agree though that the Yuuma section sucked, despite the Yuuma section basically introducing everything that matters in the show, it was drowned in filler and even when it isn't, it was just kinda boring. I hated the Super Modes and as cool as Gosei Knight was, he was just wasted. |
