Isle Evelup is more for custom stat spreads than anything. If you can do basic division, you can set it and forget it, to have that perfectly balanced defensive spread that everyone's talking about. Ev training in Gen 7 is one of those things that I would call a diagonal step forward. It's different, but I believe it's still improved. Now if only breeding hadn't gotten some solid iron bars slapped on the front... I mean, I became crazy cat-man, but I still feel like that shouldn't be basically required. Just one free Destiny Knot, like you've had in literally every game since it's introduction. That's all you needed to do Game Freak... |
Battle Tree cheated me again. This time an Accelgor wrecked my team and my way of beating it (Charizard) was already knocked out.
I need someone to trade me those mega stones 'cause clearly I can't get 'em myself. |

At least those had an, admittedly inferior in some respects, replacement. You may not like chaining, I don't mind it, but at least it exists.
I have a level 74 Persian because of that stupid yarn ball. Alongside the 4 other Pickup Meowths.... Yes, I evolved the one that found it, as a reward.... I'd gone a little bonkers at that point. |
Quote:
...Wait, you have Moon version. Use Pheromosa, it's Uber for a reason. Bug/Fighting has pretty good coverage and it's obscene stat spread should win the day. I mean, if you caught all 4 of them, surely you've got a decent nature on one. |
Speed Swap Pheromosa next to a Rampardos or Vikavolt.

But that's doubles, last I checked Red is only in Singles.
...Although, I kind of dig the idea of abusing the shit out of that when I finally get around to the Doubles tree. I'm really terrible at rough drafts of teams, so I'm just going crazy trying to build a team for Super Singles and/or competitive in general. And that's EVs, not levels. Do... do you know what those are? Anyway, if you want to get through the battle tree, you're going to need to properly EV train a decent team. If you happen to get up to LV 100 in the process, which is not at all likely, you can even fix up bad IVs with Hyper Training. |
Quote:
And yes I know what EVs are, I Super Trained half my Pokémon before I brought them over. But since I already attempted the tree twice and failed miserably both times the risk isn't worth it. I'm better off trading for them. |

If I can way in here, try putting in two ultra beasts (Pheramosa and Xurkitree are the best all out attackers) and one of the tapus (Bulu or Koko should work fine.) These are only suggestions though, but yeah I'll admit and say the battle tree is bullshit sometimes but that's just pokemon in a nutshell. If you wanna see real bullshit, playing against other people is full of it. |

It auto sets them to level 50. You don't need to level them up, just EV train them and give them a decent moveset.
The Battle Tree isn't THAT hard, it has the legendary Special Attacker Golisopod, after all. Speaking of that, you might want to try an Imposter Ditto. I got a lot of good out of it when I was grinding for BP. |
EDIT: lmao how did I fuck that up

But yeah, that's why I always drink with food and good (read: accountability-holding) company. |

I tried your strategy and I STILL got wrecked! This time by a Swampert that Earthquaked my team to death! |
Movesets or be quiet.

Nature's Madness Discharge Aerial Ace Dazzling Gleam Pheromosa Brick Break Lunge Bug Buzz Ice Beam Xurkitree Signal Beam Dazzling Gleam Thunder Charge Beam In retrospect I should've used Tapu Bulu. |
Yeah, that would of solved some of the problems.
Seriously, just chill out and attack it calmly. Even when you fail, you'll at least be able to figure out your mistakes... Although, why you have Brick Break AND Lunge on Pheromosa, as well as Charge Beam and Thunder... I'd recommend at least swapping out the Charge Beam for Tail Glow. Set-up with a +3 and wreck anything that gets in your way. Probably change Thunder out for Tbolt, just to guarantee damage. |

Sorry, I'm a bonehead. I forgot Lunge is bug-type. Although it still raises the question of why you've got Bug Buzz as well. Probably should replace that with Poison Jab for Fairy coverage, as it resists both your Stabs. You might also want to change Lunge out for U-Turn so you can switch and deal damage.

I'm done. I give up.
Someone please trade with me or else I'm gonna resort to hacking for them. |
No one's going to trade one of a kind items, especially ones that are highly valuable in competitive battling and have to be earned through post-game content.
I mean, frack, I lost count of how many times I failed in the tree before I got them. Go ahead and hack them if you're that desperate, no skin off anyone else's nose. |

Second, why are Taku Koko and Pheramosa both mixed attackers? It's better to focus on just one stat Third, what items did they have if any? Items are very valuable in the Battle Tree Fourth, why does Xurkitree have both Thunder AND Charge Beam? Same goes for Pheramosa having 2 Bug moves Fifth, Tapu Koko's most commonly used as a hard hitting special attacker, why is Nature's Madness there? |
Quote:
Second off, they're mixed attackers to exploit more weaknesses. Third off, Only Tapu Koko had its Z-Crystal (Tapunium Z) Fourth off, Thunder worked really well thanks to both its STAB and Beast Boost and the 2 Bug attacks on Pheromosa are also for STAB and to counter its Psychic-Type weakness. Fifth off, Nature's Madness was for the aforementioned Z-Crystal. |
Quote:
Then I'm afraid you don't really understand it as to exploit more weaknesses, the better thing to do is type coverage Wouldn't an Electric Z-Move be better? The Tapu's Z-Move always does 75% of what the enemy has and Tapu Koko's the kind of mon that would rather OHKO as it's not too bulky but still fairly strong Almost every Psychic type has pretty low Defence so Lunge should be good enough Again, I don't see the point of having this move as it's got a fixed amount of HP which doesn't really complement Koko's stats |
Quote:
-Get rid of Nature's Madness, the only Tapu it's good on is Fini -Replace Aerial Ace with Brave Bird -Give it a Life Orb(Found in Resolution Cave where Guzzlord is found) -Go to the Daycare and check if it has Hidden Power Grass or Ice, it it has either, teach it Hidden Power over Nature's Madness. -Give it Thunderbolt over Discharge Pheromosa -Give it a Focus Sash(From a Hula Girl in Poni Wilds on the beach) -Ice Beam is fine for a mixed set, but you already have Koko basically mixed because of Brave Bird. -Replace Brick Break with High Jump Kick(You can even give it the Fighting Z-Crystal if you want to avoid missing for one turn) Xurkitree -I would replace this with something else. You already have Koko for Electric coverage -If you can't replace it, teach it Energy Ball(Found in a cave accessed from Lush Jungle) -Give it the Psychic Z-Crystal and teach it Hypnosis. Z-Hypnosis will raise your Speed by 1 stage and will allow you to set up a Tail Glow allowing you to most likely wipe out the entirety of your opponents team -Teach it Tail Glow -Replace Thunder with Thunderbolt |
Got the Stones. I was actually able to find someone willing to trade.
I still appreciate all the help you guys gave. I have been wanting to play competitively so maybe I'll use your tips for VGC. |
I don't know if this happened to anyone else here but it's happening to me now, the night before I was on the GTS attempting to chain trade for a Shiny Dhelmise and I ended up getting softbanned. More than 24 hours later, still unable to trade.
How long before I sue Nintendo for my pain and suffering? |

Editing Pokemon is fine as long as you make them look realistic and you shouldn't get banned for that.
However, if you edit items or anything about your trainer(Money amount, name etc) that will get you banned from online, especially if you have that game connected with the Global Link. Edit: If you didn't hack like you claim, you probably got a badly hacked Pokemon someone put up for trade on GTS. |

Finally able to trade again!
