What are your experiences with items listed as having "itami" damaged boxes on Mandarake? Does it generally mean there's actual dents and wear, or just that the box isn't factory perfect? Is the price compared to similar listings a good indicator of its condition? (For example, if it's much cheaper than the competition.)

Depends what it is. Usually with figures it means the box, just look at the pictures if listed.

Knowing that there's an event in just a few weeks and it could well be revealed there, I still have to ask: Seriously, where the hell is Type Tridoron? Maybe I'm just remembering wrong what's happened before, but it really feels like it's taken way too long for it to at the very least be revealed, nevermind solicited for pre-orders and releasing in probably a few months.

Don't know if it's unusual or not, I started collecting with Gaim so I can only compare it to that, and compared to Kiwami Arms it is late. Also the show's not even running anymore so... Trype Tridoron is probably a Web Exclusive.

But you'll definitely see it at the Event.

Well Gaim started in October 2013 and Kiwami was released the end November 2015. So we still have time for Type Tridoron to be on schedule

November 2014. And while it was released after the show ended, it was only one month after and pre-orders opened while the show was still running.

No we haven't, since last month pre-orders for the first February 2016 orders opened. Of course they could release it sooner, but November 2015 is definitely not happening. They never announce an item one month before it comes out.

December also sounds little bit too sudden, so January/February 2016 could be realistic. And that’s already 3/4 months after the associated show ended, so it’s questionable if they sell it in stores.

I would hope so for people who want it, but I’m not sure about it happening.

On my order page, it was 61 USD and change, like it has been since I ordered him back in... August? Whenever he went up.

On the checkout page, however, the price was $65. The hell is going on?

See, this is exactly what happened with my Omnimon order. Just as I switched to PayPal the price was suddenly higher (and I ordered in Euros so conversion rates don't apply) and when I cancelled the payment process and returned to my account the price for the order suddenly was the higher one from the PayPal-page...

I figured sending a ticket about this won't help since they'll just say "We can't find any evidence of that in our system" and I didn’t had a screenshot of the old price in my account so... meh.

Another reason besides the stupid "Pay Later"-shit to never buy there again.

I think it's just an exchange rate thing. I pay everything in Yen and I've never had an issue. Though I too am trying to avoid NY going forward.

As I said though, I ordered in Euros. Meaning I had the price set in Euro the day I pre-ordered. That usually means if I get to PayPal, PayPal won't apply conversion rates anymore because I already go in there with the price in Euros.

Which means NY is either pushing conversion rates on what used to be a set price, or they can't give the information over to PayPal correctly. Either way, dick move. Paying 5 bucks more isn't killing anyone, but it's still shit.

After this the only thing I have ordered with them is Cure Beat in February (or March. Whichever). I'm going to start looking for a new service in the meantime if anyone has some recommendations.

I doubt that any shop would allow someone to "lock in" a price in a foreign currency unless payment is up front. Otherwise, they could potentially lose a lot of money due to exchange rate fluctuation. When you have the prices display in your own currency, it is just an estimate based on the rate at the time.

Only other site I used is Toku Taku. They are good, but a tick more expensive than NY. And you only have the option to either pay everything up-front or the first half upon pre-ordering and the second one later. Never done the last thing so I don't quite know how it works.

But NY used to do exactly that, which is why I and Tali were surprised about this.

Interesting. I didn't know that, but that sort of explains their apparent price hikes in shipping. I would assume they burned through a lot of funds doing that. With the way the value of yen has fallen in the past year or so, they need to recoup somehow.

Keep in mind you should NEVER pay for something in NY using their converted rate. At the very least, check out in yen. Just as an example, I put the Metal Action Kaiser Pilder into my cart. 10580 yen plus 3200 for EMS shipping. The total is 13780 yen, which based on todays daily rate should be 114.91 USD. If you try to pay using NYs USD rate, its 121.26. Paypals rate isn't great either, but it's still cheaper. Best thing to do is get a credit card without international transaction fees and have paypal charge the card in the original currency.

I got a notification that they expect to have her in stock soon, so I expect she'll be available sometime in the next week.

I did the pay half thing for my Hakaider Squad and it worked pretty well. You basically pay half on ordering and then the guy running the store sends you an email. If you want to pay the other half any time before the deadline (which I think was at the beginning of the month of release? I don't quite remember) you can just reply to that and he'll send you a paypal request. If not, he'll just send you another email when it's time to pay up.

The only downside to Toku Taku is they're the only middleman I know that fully mark the cost on parcels, so if you're in a customs-paying country that can be a pain. With the Hakaider Squad being a 16,000 set, I got stung pretty bad.

Just tell me when the preorders go up, I need it now.

Ghost Figuart looks neat. I do wonder how his other forums will be released. I would imagine most of them will probably be web exclusives.

Oh, definitely. I think they're probably going to end up doing a lot of Web Exclusive 2-packs or something. At least, that's really the only way to get those out at a reasonable rate, provided they want to. I don't really see any of them being released at retail.

As far as retail releases go I think we can just expect the 3 Riders and at least the Machine Ghostriker (if not the Machine Hoodie as well, we'll see I guess). Maybe Boost, they did do Dead Heat, after all, and Boost seems much more important than Dead Heat ever was...beyond that probably just Ghost's mid-season and/or final upgrades...if even that, considering how Drive went. Point being, I don't really see any space for alternate forms.

Or Bandai could just surprise everybody and not make any sense and release Newton and Ryoma at retail, I wouldn't complain...

I wouldn't really, either, but considering how sparse recent Rider releases have been, there's always that feel that they may just cheapen out on stuff not considered completely essential. I have a little more faith in Bandai than that, though, so yeah.

Speaking of completely essential, really hope Ghost Figuarts come with stands. Dude likes floating, so it's kind of important. On the other hand, with the parka covering his back, trying to use a claw stand is going to be...not fun.

edit: But really, the fact that recent Figuarts releases aren't exactly loaded with stuff does make me wonder about Ghost...

Ideally, he would come with the alternate hood, both the Sword and Naginata modes of the Saber, Yurusen, a stand, and a menagerie of diverse hands (since Ghost, unlike the past couple of Riders, has some very specific and distinctive hand gestures). Plus, you know, a tiny ass Eyecon or two. Which is all a bit more than any release for Drive really had... I'm worried that it's going to either not come with everything it should, or alternatively, that it's going to end up really expensive as a result of including all that stuff. I suppose they could offset some of this by including some things (Yurusen and the Naginata?) with the Ghostriker instead as bonus...

...or I may just be worrying needlessly, wouldn't really be the first time.
