The last part's a stretch. While entertainment is a distraction, had he been a victim from whatever happenstance that occured, I think the entertainment would be taking a backseat right now. Searching for loved ones, donating time, items, volunteering, etc. would be the first priority.

In the end, not all the cards are going to stack in your favor, even from an entertainment standpoint. Seems to me it's time to find a new hobby.

When you mentioned loved ones dead I wasn't thinking of disasters but rather the everyday kind of passing. That is devastating and I know many people distract themselves with entertainment. Sorrow is not merely restricted to disasters, even though those are some of the most heart-rending ones.

Anyway, what I was getting at why he needs to put things in perspective when his venting seems solely restricted to entertainment issues.

Hobbies change. Entertainment "things" fluctuate. Find a new hobby until you find something else you enjoy.

Obviously the enjoyment isn't to be found in what the OP listed.
