I don't think it's all that necessary. All we learned was that apparently there's a song that can revive dinosaurs and Deboss or something.

I think it's a great upgrade for a few reasons. First off, seeing as Kyoryujin's moved up past needing to use its Macho, Western or Kung Fu forms to beat the monster of the week, this keeps those powers relevant by passing them down to Daigo instead of being pushed aside for the rest of the series.

Secondly it's perfectly in-line with what Torin explained in the movie flashback. The Kyoryuger are powered by the music and dancing that are within the genes of humans, so a power-up that utilizes song and dance to its full potential makes perfect sense.
