"Do tell." "What if their dead family members gave them powers?" "Yes. Let's remind kids that their relatives are dead. I believe we're done here." "Brewskies?" "Brewskies." And that is the story of how Saban creates their shows. |
Not what I meant, Switch. Watch the footage as they use their finisher.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OH_82n9clk4 Specifically at around 50 seconds in. The Card forms around Gosei Great, fires at the monster to stun them, and then flies through to defeat them. Has nothing to do with the cockpit. They need the Tensouder, and the Cards. Or they'll be reshooting Alot. |

Hell, Cole's entire journey to find his parents led him to two graves and ultimately, failure. |

Anyway. If you want to make the powers come from their ancestors, it doesn't need to be their grandparents. It can be their actual ancestors, from 100s of years prior. That particular trope is extremely common. |
Censor overtake of children's shows? I'd disagree with that.
We're light years ahead of the 90s, when Fox wouldn't let them use realistic guns in shows, and thus you got things like how laserguns were a common weapon in the 1990s Spider-Man (never mind how Morbius didn't actually bite his victims). Heck - these days, if it's not a human suffering it, you can get away with just about as much brutality as you want on children's TV. |

Animation and live-action are two very, VERY different things.
To stay off the "bad list" with a lot of parenting groups who allow their children to watch network channels (not shows, CHANNELS) aimed at kids (like Nick, Disney, etc.) certain things need to be followed. Young adults firing realistic looking guns with bullets is a serious no-go. The concept of death (in terms of a character dying during the show, not a "my dad died/mom died/whatever before you met my character") is also a no-go. Violence, especially too much non-costumed fighting, is also a no-go. Saban Brands is trying to get Power Rangers back to the whole "helping kids be good people as they grow up" thing that they lost touch with sometime after the Zordon-era. Adding in death, more violence, realistic guns, and a swear word or two is not going to help them get back to that point, even if the older fans (which are not part of the demographic or make a realistic dent in anything sales-related or ratings-related thanks to the Internet) desire it so. |
