Well you could argue that Rita and Divatox were simply transformed because they we're humans, and the Z-Wave simply destroyed the evil within them. Though that doesn't explain Zedd turning human. Very good question though, if anybody deserved to survive it was Ecliptor.

maybe they overhauled him because his will was too strong?

Fair enough concerning Rita, but Zedd still doesn't make sense. Didn't he at one point describe his fight against Zordon, being the embodiment of evil while Zordon was the embodiment of good, being what kept the morphing grid in tact?

Didn't Astronema get the same implants? She was merciless afterwards. Other than being a pretty white lady, why did she get to survive?

maybe he had to have more because he had a really strong will, so that any personality or good in his heart that he had would have been gone anyway?

IE, even if he did survive and get those things removed, he might have been a husk of his former self.
