I dont want to be a killjoy, spoiling or ruining your ideas, but in my humble opinion for the 40th sentai, they should go back to the original formula as follows:

1. Restoring traditional eye-catch during commercial breaks (no more Fiveman, Gokaiger, Go-busters, Toqger, Ninninger style)
   
2. Restoring -man suffix to the sentai name. You can be serious, show maturity and respect to the audience without compromising the fact that is a kids show. No more silly generic -ger, its like what they do now is just copy and paste whatever idea came from a brainstorming session during september-october.
   
3. Brace transforming device along with a sober but classy computer 3d grid transformation sequence.
   
4. Showing the villains during the ending credits.
   
5. More importantly, No more magic, mystic, supernatural, nature or anything along those lines.
   Bring back Earth-based technology! Is it Bandai and Toei began to lose confidence in human intellect?. Come on guys!, this is how sentai history began! and is more fitting for an anniversary plus makes the children to easily relate the character to something in the real world and the plethora of weapons, vehicles, communication devices is more diverse and easy to adapt.
   
6. A direct consequence of what was said above, a proper Team blaster which actually resembles a gun but not a toy. If its a team cannon it has to give the impression that it can inflict a serious damage when fired, plus a proper animation that goes with it, like an explosion as it was in the old days, not ridiculous objects being thrown to the villain or monster in a clearly deus ex machina way.
   
7. And finally but not least, cast better and mature looking actors. I dont have anything against young individuals, but what we have getting today are mostly young faces which dont look very 'heroic physique'. I say more live training sequences and the use of sidearms, we want to see real scenario combat experience.

Maybe i have over extended a bit, but that's what i think. You can agree or disagree, i just hope not be the one who's getting throw tomatoes and the end of this post.

Should bring back the same sense of justice from the 80's and 90's.

You aren't. You're just sharing your opinion, and while that is a good idea, I hardly think they'd do that for the 40th anniversary. After all, the past 15 years since Gaoranger have gone with a certain pattern for seasons, and while that would be good for a later season, it probably won't be that. Why fix what isn't broken?

As for the ideas, I don't think they'd go over that well with the audience in Japan these days. Most of those ideas (most, not all) were used in Go-Busters, and we all know what a bust that season was. We may have liked it, but Japan sure didn't. It tried be like the classic Sentai, but its ratings and toy sales bombed. Badly.

I'm not trying to derail your ideas. I'm simply saying they wouldn't work for an anniversary season, especially with the trend they've been going with since Hurricanger. I could see them bringing back eyecatches, but kids like all that magic, supernatural, outer space stuff. Again, not saying it isn't a good idea. I'm simply saying it's just not a good idea for a 40th anniversary.

Ratings didn't bomb; it actually had a higher average than Kyoryuger, but the minimalistic approach to the toy line was it's ultimate downfall. The morphin brace did a ton, but without having a "Got to get all" collectible and the minimum amount of mech, there was no reason to go toy hunting after a certain point in the show. The movie exclusive mech and power-ups were lackluster. Go-Busters was a good season, but the toys (what drives the show, Bandai, and Toei) greatly lacked.

And I think kids and adults use Super Sentai for the same reason; an escape from their normal lives for 30 minutes. So the magic and all that other stuff may seem silly and act as a distractor from the show, but that stuff is what draws in the crowds. Is was is used for sentai any sillier than a fruit-themed samurai, donut-eating wizard, uber positive astronaut, or a tire-wearing cop that has a transient car and belt, all of which are loosely bug-themed? Not at all and KR kills it every year.

You just hit the nail on the head, there. It's the whole "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" metaphor.

Also, I guess "bombed" wasn't the right word. While the show did have better ratings than Kyoryuger, it's toy sales pale in comparison. And that's what KR and SS are: Just a 30 minute toy commercial. Even if the ratings aren't great, it's the toy sales that really prove its popularity. At least by today's standards. While ratings were important when Gorenger started, it's toys that really show if the series is popular enough. While I understand some people's want for a more 80's/90's feel Sentai, though I doubt that after Go-Buster's failure, we'll be seeing that anytime soon.

Not to mention the people wanting that are really adult and teenage Americans, where as the target audience is young and adult Japanese people. Pretty sure they want to stay with what THEY want, not what WE want. That's why they have Sentai, and we have Power Rangers.

Gunmanger? More police sentai? :D
