It combined the same, the only true difference was Ape was an animal where as in the show Ape was a warrior.

The movie version has an additional abdomen section which is completely absent from the TV one, the eyes on the face are replaced with a clear window/visor and the movie version has working hands, whereas the TV version only had "power gloves" or whatever they were called.
