I like them but they could be better without the jewel in the center

But the costumes as generic as they are will be the least of this movie's problems. |
They look like a cross between Ryan Reynolds-as-Green Lantern and the early 90's American productions of the Guyver, which have been lampooned as something too in line with PR. I could say they will fail, but that is what every fan will say about any live-action movie franchises: the long-timers hate them, while the general public looks for escapism and applauds them. Any condemnation is, quite frankly, to be expected. For example, G1 Megatron from Transformers changed into a Walther P-38 while the first live movie entry had him as an alien jet (granted this is a separate franchise with multiple interpretations of Megatron, but you get my point). Another bone of contention regarding cosmetic changes was Wes Craven's Scream and the difference between the mask of that Ghostface and the one in the MTV Scream. They made it different intentionally, and initially doubts about the show were softened with the somewhat surprising result (again, off-base, but it serves the point of an "example"). I reserve the rest until we see the new suits in action.

This movie has the entertainment world buzzing, a high-profile actress as the villain in Elizabeth Banks (which wouldn't be happening if she were a no-name Japanese actress like some folks wanted) and slow-but-hyped reveals like the suits. Although we can safely say that reactions have been mixed, it has the fan base talking and excited...which is much more than can be said of FF4. |
