Really odd how they're all for the story-slot. At least they all seem to be. I sure hope we'll be getting some more variety later; there are already more story books than there are of god-beast and animal books combined.

Honestly seeing Calibur getting such a drastic form change next month is kinda weird for me because at this point of the show, he barely registers to me as an actual character. Mysteries about his identity aside, I don't feel like we've gotten a lick of either his motivations or even his personality. I fear I won't get to assign any particular feelings to his first form before this new one shows up.

Other Riders in the past whose purpose at the beginning was to just look cool and stomp on the heroes (Zangetsu, Genm and Horobi particularly come to mind... a lot of purple guys here, huh) at least we got the gist of what their deal was by episode 5-ish, even if it was a really straightforward kind of character.

It does look cool though. Also very much like Cross-Z. I look forward to him feeling unstoppable until Saber gets his first-quarter upgrade in December.

Quick thought:

Is Kamen Rider Saber the only Rider show were the bad guy gets his upgrade form first? If we don’t count the three compatible books as upgrades.

Probably not but there's no counter example immediately coming to mind.

I hope they’re changing this soon too - they're teasing a lot, and I hope he becomes a more fleshed out character before the new form happens.

Genm seems to be really close to Caliber though in terms of development.

During the first 8-ish episode, when heroes didn't know (or not really sure) Genm was kuroto, we didn't know what he wanted. It was kinda the point of Lazer early arc to investigate Kuroto and getting christmased for trying. And even after Dangerous Zombie debut Kuroto's goal as a game master and wanting to achieve KR Chronicle wasn't immediately clear. He was just being bad and megalo for the sake of being bad and megalo as far as heroes knew.


EDIT :

Genm again. Dangerous Zombie happened before Mighty Brothers, and even if we're talking level 3 Shakariki sports came first.

Interesting.

My main takeaway from this is that I should prepare for whoever is behind that mask to become a meme lord with a god complex later on.

Jokes aside, I like early villain Riders with staying power in their respective shows like Genm, Blood Stalk or Horobi, so I hope Calibur sticks around.

I'm gonna use this from now on.

I hope the next item in Saber will be scrolls. Scrolls tell stories as books do.

If this new character is from the south, maybe scrolls can fit there somehow.
