Just got this in the mail, courtesy of Sentai King:
https://i.imgur.com/ZMcfAq9.jpg https://i.imgur.com/71c9NNT.jpg https://i.imgur.com/hNicogJ.jpg Story time: When I was studying in Japan, I went to Jungle in Osaka's Den Den Town (for those unfamiliar, it's like a smaller Akihabara in Osaka) and saw this guy for 1700 yen (about $16) and almost picked it up, but I couldn't decide between it and a few other figures. We didn't have much time though, and everybody said we would come back again on another day when there was more time, so I set it back with the intent to look more thoroughly when we return. I have no idea why I didn't just get it right then and there, because I knew I wanted it, but I digress. We never had another chance to go back, and I ended up leaving Japan without the figure. Shame. So when I got back to the US, I started looking online for the figure and it was around $40! I stubbornly refused to pay that much for it because I had the opportunity to get it for less than half, but over time the price kept rising. I saw Sentai King had it for $40, so I figured I should grab it before it becomes prohibitively expensive. I've been tossing around the idea of taking photos of my figures for Instagram, so I thought I'd give it a shot with this. I definitely have room to improve, but I think it's a pretty good start. |

I've had worse starts to months! -Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Deluxe Edition Omnibus (I don't usually post comics stuff, but the fact that this book exists is ridiculous. It's a collection of encyclopedia entries for Marvel characters circa the late 1980s. Some of these characters have had an additional thirty years of adventures! This is like buying a DVD box set of the nightly news from decades ago. It's absurd. But! It's, in a lot of ways, Ground Zero for my superhero fandom, so I needed to get it when it was announced. Excited to be reminded that 85% of villain entries conclude with Was Killed By Scourge At The Bar With No Name.) -R.E.D. Transformers Prime Arcee (GARBAGE FIGURE. This is like the monkey's paw version of asking for a more show-accurate Arcee toy. Besides accuracy, it is worse in every possible way. Worse stability, worse poseability, worse plastic, worse paintwork, etc etc etc. Oh, and the show-accuracy doesn't extend to scale, so she looks drastically out of place next to any other Prime cast member. This figure is a cursed idol, and I'm sorry you had to see it. Arcee deserved, and deserves, better.) -SH Figuarts Masked Rider Chalice (Pretty great older figure! Looks sharp as a tack, and I think his Older Figuarts lankier proportions match my minds-eye for Kamen Rider Heartbreaker.) -SH Figuarts Kamen Rider Brave Lvl 2 (The last of the core Ex-Aid guys I needed to pick up! I was never that crazy about the base Brave suit - that baby blue, ehh - but he's a nice looking figure in-hand. Happy to have him.) -Shinkocchou Seihou Masked Rider Agito Ground Form (The big figure purchase for the month. Gorgeous. Light on details, but what's here totally pops. The gold!) -Transformers Kingdom Inferno (I liked the Grapple figure, and this is basically just that figure in red. Intuitive transformation, great looks, a very fun toy to mess around with.) -Transformers Kingdom Huffer (Not too bad! Like some of the other upsized mini-bots, there're parts of his transformation that smack of Unnecessarily Complex, but you sort of get used to it. First transformation is a little frustrating, the future ones are more fun.) -A device that is taking an entire evening to transfer data from my PS4 (Only played a few minutes of Astro's Playroom, which is okay! Might get to play Miles Morales or Avengers in another few days after all the copying and downloading finishes! Hooray for the fun of a brand-new console! I crab, but I'm lucky to be able to have finally gotten one off of GameStop, and I don't want to sound ungrateful. I'm psyched to play some games!) |

So I dodged a bullet by not being able to hunt her down. |
Yesss Chalice!! I’ve been considering picking him up at some point (because my love for Blade continues to grow), and it’s amazing how good he looks for being so cheap and old. Though, he DID come out at the same time as the Gaim SHFs...
