That was kind of underwhelming. Like other HOPRs, he glossed over points and this time, it just felt like I was just being given a play by play of the series. It was all "This happened. Then this happened. Then this happened. Then that happened. (Gives brief thoughts and opinions on what happened). Now lets move on to the next episode."
The tidbits that he talked of that weren't about the plot totaled, like, 10 minutes, and the character portion was barren.
I know this isn't supposed to be an opinion piece (Keywords being 'supposed to be'), but this one really felt like he was just reading the PR Wiki episode summaries.

Actually it is. He says all the time that HOPR is his opinion on Power Rangers. It was never not an opinion piece.

Sad to hear that the one season I was actually looking forward to was the one he phoned in.

Then why the fuck did this episode feel like he was just reading Wikipedia for 2 hours?

For a series that allegedly needs so much work put into it that episodes have such large gaps, this episode feels especially lazy.

The time gap is really less because of the work he has to put in them and more the work he puts in all of his other projects.

Because the better the series, the less flaws there are to talk about.

I'll notice in HOPR that when Linkara likes a scene or something, he'll simply play it and let it speak for itself, rather than tear it apart if it's bad. It's more effective that way to the audience who may not know the series inside-and-out like us, and even for the people who know, rewatching it will be it's own reward.

Usually teh point of critically deconstructing flaws in a show is to spare us the actual badness and simply deliver the information without the unlikable bit in question. With a series that's better, experiencing it is far more effective than him deconstructing what it's plainly apparent.

Plus, dude, you realise that was four parts, right? There was more recapping because this show had way less filler, but the actual installment was longer as a result.

It has such big gaps because he's not a machine and wants to, like, eat and take shits once in a while. It's that mentallity of yours that puts him off of making it. He had other things he wants to do, outside of his other shows and workload. For a series you're not paying for or trading anything for, you're acting extremely entitled to a standard.

Having watched the installement, it wasn't bad at all. I quite liked it, especially the very end bit about what's really "mature" which I wish everyone would consider for themselves.

I'm viewing it incorrectly, then, but I don't know how to properly look at it. He approaches it like a review, pointing out the positives and negatives with hints of his opinion, but then it turns into a summary of the series proper, idling on about the plot.

And I feel the opposite. Deconstructing what makes a particular scene or line delivery good is far more effective than being told something is good, showing the scene in question, and simply moving on, without explaining what in particular enhanced the scene. Why is this decent actor suddenly stunning in this scene? Why this line delivery is stronger than normal.

Fair enough.

During his In Space video (part 1), he mentions that there is an alternate version of "Go Go Power Rangers" that he has not able to find. Given that was back in March 2014, has there been any change to that, or is it still unknown as to what version it is?

Well, Linkara just made me want to watch RPM as he has with JF. Another awesome review, if a little bit longer than his others.

I'm kinda disappointed that he didn't really like RPM that much, from what I could tell from the videos. I also realized that he likes weird teen rock band music to play the intros as opposed to normal rock influenced music.

I wouldn't call it "weird teen rock band music". Lighter, bouncy rock fits Power Rangers pretty well. RPM's sort of fit the setting, but it also sounded like it tried way too hard, coming off sounding all grudgy and disjointed.

RPM is a great series - it doesn't waste time trying to explain and show advancement of an enemy on why and how to take over the Earth - because the enemy already has. Instead we learn about Venjix and his minions as they try to destroy the last city on Earth.

I enjoyed Linkara's stuff because it's nice to hear another fan's perspective, especially one who hadn't watched these shows as they aired. Has he stated whether or not he's breaking Samurai and Super Samurai in to different installments?

I don't think he's said anything on that, but if I had to guess he will be. Each season of Mighty Morphin' got an instalment. It's really the only precedent we have for how he handles Rangers shows that go beyond a single season.

I got the Under Pressure montage at the end of his In Space review, as it was the culmination of the story started in Mighty Morphin', but I didn't get it here. I mean I would have if RPM was truly the last Power Rangers series, but it's not. And wasn't by the time he got to it. So it's like...ok. I get it kind of...but not really. What are reminiscing about again?

Each MMPR Season was an individual installment, but they weren't 15-20 episodes each were they? There might not be enough there to do two parts....

If memory serves, I believe Linkara stated Samurai/Super Samurai will be done as a single HOPR release because there's not enough difference in story or characters to consider them two separate seasons.

We'll find out this summer.

While the MMPR seasons were split into their own releases, they were each also one or two videos long.

For the format he works with now, it would only make sense if he combined Samurai and Super Samurai.

I actually find it odd how his videos got longer as the PR series got shorter. His video for Season 1 was like 30 minutes long and he had to cover 60 episodes. Yet, RPM is only 32 episodes and it is like an hour and a half long.

Because he knows less and less about each series as they go on, so there's less for him to skip and abridge from memory.

Later seasons are also far more substancial.

I found it really hard to follow this one. It may be partly because I cannot stand Samurai/Super Samurai, or it may be because Linkara had to spend time filling in blanks to make it sound like the series actually had any points worth discussing - which it didn't.

Either way - I look forward to the Megaforce/Super Megaforce review at the end of the year if only because that series DID have some points worth discussing and I'm curious his thoughts on NEW POWERS (but from his previews it didn't sound like he was so excited for it).

Oh yeah, that was going to happen today. Will have to find time to squeeze this in.
