I like ToQ 6.
|
Team (in no order)
Dairanger Kakuranger Hurricaneger Shinkenger Gokaiger Jetman Individual (in no order) ToQ6 DragonRanger Deka Break TimeFire King Ranger Mega Silver |
I can't remember if I posted on here or not, but I'm going to again regardless with an updated list then. (And because I don't know all the sentai names for these people, I'll replace them with the american name where I can)
-Sixth/Other- Gosei Knight - Flawless in every detail. From the lion helmet, to the armor, to his damned weapon. And then they made him a Captain Planet Robocop for the adaptation... *Just sighs* King Ranger - Never seen OhRanger, and I don't have to in order to know that suit is amazing. The striking black with the starke gold, yes, the weapon, yes. Everything about it is yes. Gokai Silver - Absolutely loved his design. They made it just different enough to be a Sixth, but just the same so he didn't look out of place. Which is harder than it looks. Just look at Green Mask. -Teams- Maskman - A new love of mine, I admit. But the designs are so crisp and clean. .. Though I'm still trying to understand the earrings on Pink and Yellow. Goseiger - And this surprises no one, so moving on. Kyoryuger - Again, surprised? No? |
Okay, so here's my updated top 5, in no order
Dairanger Flashman Ninninger Zyuohger Gokaiger Other (mostly ones where I like one suit design but not the full team , or in the case of Gokai Christmas, an alt color) Big One Akaranger Denzired All of the Ohrangers except red Gokai Christmas |
My top five would have to be:
1.) Gokaiger(Freaking Pirates how could I not love this. Every time I see this suit in Super Megaforce I cry over what could have been) 2.) Zyuranger 3.) Abaranger 4.) Ohranger 5.) Kyoryuger Honorable Mentions for me would be: Jetman Hurricanger Go-Busters |
Here's my top five:
1. Dairanger The helmets look SO DOPE. The gold highlights are all very good, and Kibaranger has maybe my favorite suit in all of Super Sentai. I only wish that the cover of the Shout! Media DVDs had the Dairangers in their suits. Wouldn't seeing the White Ranger sell more product!? 2. Gokaiger I like how much black is in each suit, balancing out the colors very well. Helmets and visors look cool too, but really it's about the abundance of black and those fly jackets. Silver's changes (the "bandana" helmet and different jacket collar) also look great. 3. Turboranger I hate when suits are too much of the main color, because then they look like PJs. Turboranger's yellow and black highlights and white torso streaks are great color balance. Belts and helmets look great too. My favorite 70s/80s suits by a longshot. 4. Go-Busters The pleather looks good, making it distinct from other shows and communicating that each of them is a pilot, sorta. The helmets are decent, and the black and silver in each uniform is great for color balance. Makes me want to watch more of the series, heh. 5. Zyuranger The white checkered pattern is a really good color balance, and the helmets are distinct and nice-looking. I might be informed my MMPR nostalgia, but I think that Zyuranger's kits look great. DragonRanger's gold armor is baller and I wish that the whole team could've worn them at some time. (Only Red does, right? I haven't seen much Zyuranger) Honorable mentions: Gingaman - Charlie Brown stripes! Shinkenger - the "samurai robe" design on the front RULES and I like the black pants Jetman - good helmets and color balance, better on the women than the men Kyouryuuger - I don't love jagged edges, but the yellow and black splashes are excellent ideas. I'd probably rank it in my top five if it was less... toothy? Special Bonus Gekiranger - I love Gekiranger as a show, but I hate the red, blue, and yellow suits. Yeah, I know it's supposed to be influenced by Bruce Lee in Game of Death, but they look like jammies with an overabundance of the main color with no belt and not enough black. By contrast, I think Violet and Chopper both look AWESOME and I wish the entire team had suits that good. |
My favorites are(In Bold are the ones that stand out the most for me)
Dynaman Flashman Turboranger Fiveman Jetman Zyuranger Dairanger Carranger Megaranger Timeranger Gaoranger Hurricanger Abaranger Dekaranger Boukenger Shinkenger Goseiger |
Argh! Curse this thread!
It made me look at all of my favorite sentai costumes, and that lead to me dropping $100 on Figuarts. :lol (Aka Ranger, Black Condor, and Ryuranger for the record) Quote:
:lolol Quote:
1. Gorenger - It's impossible to overstate how well-designed and influential these suits are. The helmets are kind of big, and the construction isn't as polished as modern sentai -- but these suits are brilliant in every other way. I'd love to see a more streamlined take on the suits using modern materials (fingers crossed for a Superhero Year: Gorenger movie). 2. Bioman 3. Hurricanger 4. Jetman 5. THREE-WAY TIE: Gingaman, Dairanger, and Gokaiger |

Dairanger has quite a bit of white, but I feel it's used well. Their helmets are beautifully designed with the golden crest and the Chinese styling makes it just look all the better. I'm also putting Maskman in my honorable mentions, just because they look so sleek and cool. |
Magiranger has my favorite suits in general, I think, for the team. Individually I think Go-On Silver may be my favorite...I haven't really seen much of the suits themselves in action, so I dunno.

But that's not why I dug through 10+ pages of topics to find it. I just knew that my previous list wasn't how I felt now, so I needed to post a new one. |

Dang, thank you EpsilonX for jumpstarting this thread again.
To save everyone the trouble, one major rule I have set two years ago is to renew your top 5s only if it has been at least a year since your last top 5s so just look out for that. Also, follow the format below, as well as a comment or two about what you like about the suits or suit. That would be nice. :) And one more thing, I would like to add an honorable mention section as of this year, so those who posted this year and want to add it feel free to do so. BUT ONLY ONE PER CATEGORY. Without further ado, here is mine for this year: TOP 5 SUIT DESIGN (TEAMS) https://36.media.tumblr.com/0fcc35d7...t2yao1_500.png 1. CARRRRRRRRRRANGER! Even up to this day do they have the most intricately-designed suits. And they pretty much saved the franchise with laughter and making themselves the butt of the joke. And also this happened. http://i.imgur.com/ONUrvJJ.jpg http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/...20100201040703 2. Megaranger. I bump this to 2nd place. Again, simple, clean, and timeless. http://i.imgur.com/vU5StmF.png 3. Ninninger. The show did not live up to the initial hype, but this felt like it went the next level in terms of design for a ninja team. It is slightly more intricate than Hurricanger and Kakuranger, the shuriken visors and scroll sash that has their stylized logo(which is the "nin" of the word ninja) works well, and I like the color palette overall. http://i.imgur.com/cjMOaqD.png 4. Dairanger. Like I said before, 1990's Super Sentai design at its finest. Nuff said. http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/...20140124051919 5. Maskman. To be honest I don't know how their design embodies light or aura given that the design can seem rather generic, but boy are the suits one of the best designed from the 80s. HONORABLE MENTION http://i.imgur.com/2eaRpwa.jpg Kakuranger. The OG Ninja team that gave us the voice of Skull Man and Kane Kosugi. TOP 5 SUIT DESIGN (INDIVIDUAL) http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/...20150328211524 1. Starninger. It is the perfect meld of burgers, ninjas, cowboys, and a fresh pile of yippee ki-yay. http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/...20141225224447 2. Aoninger. Probably the best designed out of the core five. Plus I have been getting flashbacks of NES Ninja Gaiden watching him in action and that music video Wizards Never Die. http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/...20140207041748 3. Geki Chopper. Recently watching Kamen Rider Ghost reminded me how awesome this suit was and still is. Probably the first to incorporate a karate belt as far as I can remember. http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/...20140207171935 4. Go-on Red. The next best condor since Black Condor. AND. goes well with other team's gear. https://i.imgur.com/Nn6KMFR.png 5. Shinken Green. I personally like the green hue and his visor for the kanji that means wood feels the most balanced. Plus, he went all the way to hyper aside from Red and Gold. Reminds of that time Zach got the dragon shield. HONORABLE MENTION http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/...20140213205159 Stag Buster Did not make it this year but it's J. You can't hate him. |
Interestingly enough, I disagree with half of your team picks haha.
Anyways, since I completely forgot that there were "rules" for this thread, I may as well re-post my list to better fit the rules. I'd go back and edit my most recent list, but let's face it: nobody is going to see it. Also, I'm terrible at explaining why I like something, so bear with me. Dairanger http://supersentai.com/database/1993...-dairanger.jpg The helmets have a nice design and I really enjoy how the white acts as more of a vest, instead of just being a pattern. Flashman http://supersentai.com/database/1986...p-flashman.jpg There's a great balance of colors and a nice, sleek design in these suits. Ninninger https://ilblogvuotodinidellaneum.fil.../ninninger.jpg The black arms and necks really make the main colors pop, and the sashes with the logo make the suits more interesting visually. Zyuohger http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/...20151225220152 The series isn't even out yet and these suits are already in my top 5. I think what really draws me to these suits is how simple they are: no patterns or multi-layer designs, just a solid color with a drawing of their animal over it. They're unique and pleasing to the eye. I'm a fan of the jagged edges of the gloves too. Gokaiger https://38.media.tumblr.com/f13e95c8...9xJ1rjyevc.png Another design that has a balance of black and the suit's main color. I'm rather indifferent towards the helmets, but the jackets are another unique design that is striking, provides a nice balance of color, and actually makes sense. I suppose I'm just not a fan of random patterns on a suit. Honorable mention: Ohranger http://data.whicdn.com/images/18950892/original.jpg Another simple design that doesn't rely on weird patterns (I'm looking at you, Zyuranger's diamond pattern). These suits only get an honorable mention because I really don't like Red's visor. |
I love Flashman's suits, but I just don't like the bubble style visors, which deters me a bit too much, personally.
|
Huh, I hadn't really taken in Ninninger's suits properly, since I'm only watching fully-subbed Super Sentai right now. They look really good! Maybe I should watch the beginning of that show....

1. Say what you want about the show, but Nininger does have some very nice looking suits. The difference about the shurikens on their helmets alone, makes them stand out, and the band they have across them just adds to the look. Such a pity they were wasted on such a crap show. 2. Gokaiger, is a overrated series, and for good reason. But one of the things that stands out in the show, is the pirate motive, and the suits only help that. The personality in the helmet design, shows a bit of what each rangers personality is like underneath the suit. 3. While 80's Super Sentai shows, weren't the best, in writing or action, the suits did look good for the time. At number 3 I have Maskman. There was always something that stood out to me about the suits. The individual ranger suits work well together especially the red ranger. 4. Dekaranger, captured the look of a police team in a stylistic way, with the visors being huge. SWAT mode is a very nice power up for the team. In action or not, the suits are visually striking and leave an impression. The similarities and difference with each suit makes them unified, and feel like a police force you don't want to mess with. 5. While some may argue the quality of the show, Goseiger had some nice looking suits. The large tribe logos on their chest, and the different helmet prints on the sides looks very nice and makes them stand out from the rest of the franchise. The white pants is something not commonly seen in the franchise, and really break the color scheme, in a good way by connecting the helmets and suits together. |
It might be time to update mine because last time I posted, we didn't even have the official romanization for Toqger xD
Okay, here we go: 1. Goseiger I really dig the jackets. The whole color scheme with gold and white + ranger color just works incredibly well (especially for the show's theme) and the tribe logo on the chest really fits into that. While I'm usually not very fond of helmest with lips, I actually like it with the Goseiger design. I also love how the animals' jaws define the shape of the visor. 2. Ninninger That sash. It literally made me fall in love at first sight with the suits. What I also really like is that the girls have overknee boots (or it's more like shoes with socks), it's kinda cool to have the girls' suits be more than just: male suit with a skirt. The shuriken visors work extremely well, especially with the silver part and they kinda fit the characters' personalities. Also, I like the part on the helmet that sticks out because it looks like some kind of traditional Japanese hood/ headwear (I don't know what it's called, but I remember seeing that before). 3. Hurricaneger I like wafu Sentai designs, Shinkenger and Kakuranger would probably be part of a top ten. What I like about Hurricaneger is the kind of warrior look, with the chainmail style sleeves. I also like that Blue has the chainmail look on her pans, which makes her suit kinda look like a dress. The golden highlights give them a very royal look, it makes you think "these guys work for some noble person, a shogun or maybe even the emperor!". Sorry Shinkengers, but this just gives me more of a "Tenkagomen" feel than your outfits ;) Also, the removeable visors were pretty cool. 4. Toqger This one comes and goes lately, but I still like it a lot. It's extremely simple, which helps the whole Norikae gimmick work very well. Also, the design just nails the theme, with the locomotive-shaped helmets, the rails on the helmet and chest and the numbers. Also, gotta love 6#'s moustache and suspenders xD 5. Megaranger Like the Toqgers, I like how simple these are. The small highlights here and there give them this kind of youthful look and I love the envelope emblem on their belts. The visors look super-futuristic, which gives them something timeless in combination with the youth theme and I totally dig the electric devices lighting up onside that black sphere thing. To give some honor to individual suits of teams I haven't mentioned on the list, here are some favs (no particular order here): KyoryuViolet I love the color they used here and the shape of the helmet is adorable, especially with the mouth plate and visor being heart shaped. What I really admire is how this design works for both a male and female character despite this adorable look. The Kyoryuger suits are pretty cool in general, but this one is by far my favorite. Thinking about it though, I also really like KyoryuGold... AbareKiller Those stripes. While all Abarangers have them and AbareBlack's pattern and color theme is really cool too, I think they work best on AbareKiller. The whole design gives him this wild and fierce look, especially the red visor, which kinda reminds me of a scar. The gold highlights and the shoulder plate make it look noble at the same time which just emphasizes Mikoto's personality. That rich bastard xD GaoSilver Two words: Dog ears. He shares this trait with Go-On Black (which is my favorite design out of the Go-Onger suits too), but also has this uniqueness. I like silver and blue as a color combination, so the stripes are just gorgeous imho. Also, I'm kind of a fan of one arm being a different color, so additional points for that. Also, the sash-like stripes on the Gaoranger suits are one of my favorite parts of the show's designs so yeah for GaoSilver having that too! (GaoRanger itself is pretty high on the list as well) DekaSwan So yeah, DekaMaster is more popular/badass and got more screentime BUT I always preferred DekaSwan. While I do find the cat-like helmet more fitting for her Power Rangers counterpart, I do like how they basically made it fit swans... ear-things...? The lights on the side of it give it this really cool alien-look. I also like the shape of the chest-piece, as well as the overall pattern and color scheme of the suit. Also, having Swan technically wear the suit under her labcoat is just brilliant xD GekiChopper Speaking of the white and orange color theme, I also like GekiChopper. While the helmet is somewhat bulky, it does nail the Rhino motif and just fits Ken perfectly. I really dig the Keikogi design with the obi and some orange highlights here and there and the SRTC symbol on the side instead of the front like the other Gekirangers. It also looked pretty cool on GokaiPink, btw. |
