In case anyone wanted something a little less well-known to give a watch, Big Nova Subs are currently subbing Kyodai Ken Bycrosser (or Byclosser if you'd prefer)

YES! This is fantastic news. Byclosser is a classic. It's not great but it's fun & weird. Always loved their designs and the vintage toys are some of the best but also very expensive.

Always down for lesser known Toku shows.

I've seen some of the Bycrosser toys and thought they looked cool and... that's literally the only thing I know about Bycrosser. I'll check the show out!

Toy toys generally fetch hefty prices. Their value is the only thing keeping me from buying them. They're wonderfully designed toys but just so expensive.

Do they show up on Mandrake or are they still expensive even on there?

In reality they're just mostly impossible to find. At least the sets I want. You can find the role play sets affordably on occasion but there are 3 releases in particular I've wanted for years.

1st there's the smaller scale (listed as DX Chogokin) Blazer Cannon/Ken Roader set. Which is itself a pretty cool small scale rendition of the finisher the duo uses in the show. The figure it comes with is about 4" tall. The 2nd is a larger essentially true DX scaled up version of this set in roughly 6" scale with a much more functional Blazer Cannon/Ken Roader. The small set alone sells for 20,000+ yen. I've only ever seen the larger scale set for sale perhaps once and for a lot more than that.

There are actually a couple of larger vehicles that I believe were cancelled as I've never ever seen them for sale.

What's a Byclosser?

Did the toys sell poorly or the show do poorly is that why they were cancelled?

The show ran for a mere 34 episodes, less than a year. It just didn't sustain an audience as I understand it.

From the late 70's through the mid 80's Toei was more or less willing to try just about anything Ishinimori wanted to do on television. Which resulted in things like Byclosser, Machineman, Akumaizer 3, Choujin Bibyun, Uchuu Tetsujin Kyodyne, and others. One off shows with some retail toy support that ultimately never really had fully realized toylines because of their short runs.

I really hope that it's okay to ask here, but does anyone have episode 04 of B-Fighter? It was subbed by RedRacer2004 a few years ago but I seriously can't find it anywhere... Pleaseee...

The rest is from a Malaysian bootleg DVD which I think were pretty bad, but they're watchable (I guess).

I was wondering why the subs for episodes 21-30 seem a bit off when I was watching the series in its entirety through Kissasian.com. And while I know that realistically speaking it's never going to happen, I would love for the Metalder series get an official DVD release in the US. Aaaaaand, I am now fighting a sudden urge to watch this series again. Darn it.

Metalder was cool - was pretty easy to follow the Portuguese dub.

You could ask Hi No Tori? They seem to like this sorta thing. The downside would be that they're incredibly slow and hardsub all their releases, though.

No, I wish I did. The two seasons are available on DVD via Amazon Japan but, are so rare, they're well over 100 bucks a pop. I just can't take that plunge! I'd go in on it - but can't go the entire cost.

If you expect someone else to spend a good chunk of their time subbing it for you, then I think you should at least try to provide the DVDs (assuming the ISOs aren't already available on ADC). Maybe that's just me, but I can tell you that I would've neverrr translated Legend Heroes if I hadn't gotten to watch it first :P

Look, if I had 150 bucks to just throw around - I would. In a heart beat, I would. I'm even saying now that I'd go in 50 / 50 on it. I mean, shit, are you really chastising me for being fucking poor?

Not at all....... The economy's been tough on all of us, believe me I know. 50/50's fairly generous, but speaking as a subber myself I can't see too many people willing to shell out money for a show they probably haven't even heard of before. I'm just saying, if you really wanna it subbed then you'd have much better odds if you saved up and had the DVDs on hand. No harm intended. :X

I wish more old school Toku was fan subbed like Moonlight Mask and Golden Bat. Western toku fans don't seem to care about them since they are not relevant. But I did had fun watching a few RAW episodes of Moonlight Mask and it was like watching a predecessor of Kamen Rider in the 1950's.
