After seeing those scans...let me just say this. I'm not going to judge the show by it's suits, weapons, or mecha. The show for all we know could be utterly amazing.

But...............................everything I'm seeing does not look appealing to the eyes.

I also suspect the combination was supposed to emulate a rainbow- a totally out of sequence rainbow, but it would account for why each individual color forms a vertical stripe, top to bottom.

They could've done that and still not had it look like a damn cheap dollar store knockoff.

My main suit problem is there isn't enough of the black or white to break up the main colors. And as for the mecha, whoever made the Zatch Bell reference is completely right.

I'm still wondering if functionality of the individual trains might be another reason.

They're totally going for the train collector market. If that weird Thomas the tank engine mecha is anything to go by though I still think they could have tried harder. You can understand why they did it, but... meh.

The helmets and weapons are awesome.

The suits and mecha suck. Holy crap, they're so boring and cheap looking. The megazord literally looks like a knockoff the way it combines. So rudimentary and dissapointing.

The first pic of Tokkyu-Oh looks good and interesting to see that all 5 colors at the torso.... then I saw the actual image of the toy.... I guess the animation for their combination will have all 5 trains on separate tracks close to each other.

I have to agree with you there. It feels more like a knockoff of Super Sentai...yet it's an official Sentai. I'm honestly hoping the show does well in story. If it can do that, I can forgive Tokkyuger for the odd design choices.

Well,I knew I reserved my feelings this time for a reason.Those suits are extremely bland and the weapons combine in a way that resemble Go-onger's combination.I do however understand why the mecha combo's that way,but they still could've given it a chestplate or something.

All I gta say is thank goodness we have Gaim.

Reading more on this series, the bizarre choices seem to stem beyond the designs and into every nook and cranny of this thing, blending pointless refreshes to the formula while repeating clichés everyone is bored of.

Still waiting for the punch line...any time now...

My feelings exactly. All of the costumes look so bland and unexciting and like you said, a foot soldier. The mech also looks very uninteresting. Still gonna watch the show but most likely I won't be getting any of the merchandise.

And I guess I can kinda understand the showa throwback thing, kinda, but with sentai suits getting increasingly more complex in the last five years or so and this show running alongside a show whose entire gimmick centres around increasingly more insane costumes, this better have a DAMN good story to justify the incredible cheap blandness of it all.

Looking at the mecha I'm getting flashbacks of a knock-off transformer based on Thomas The Tank Engine.

This applies to the suits as well, they look more knock-off rangers from China.

Man even the auxiliary Ressha don't look all that good. From the looks of it they don't even change shape much when attached to TokkyuOh's arms. It just looks like he has a different train carriage stuck on the ends.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, complexity and innovation truly died with Boukenger. Easily the most innovative and inclusive DX line of mecha from Sentai. Starting with Gekiranger we've been bounced back and forth between over simplification and sub standard complexity and haven't gotten back to Boukenger levels since.

There are good things out there. SHinken-Oh, G12, Go-Buster Ace, Plezuon. But the level of quality and complexity achieved by Boukenger has never been seen since.

Minus the animal vehicle of go onger I feel like it going to be more and more like go onger

After staring at a bigger pictures of the helmets for quite a bit I really dig em. Love that the tracks are raised. The rest of the suit still is lackluster :lol They just feel naked.

Alright my thoughts-

Suit- Cool, showa, not much else.

Mecha- yeeeeeaaah. No. I just dont care for it.

Weapons and Changer- I wanna like it, I just cant.

Overall- Im doing like I do everything else, I wont form an opinion on the show until I see it, but the toys? I dont care for them at all right now.

What does it mean? Ill be able to focus on Gaim and backtrack on Kyoryuger.

Hurray, I can start on either Gaoranger or hurricaneger! Since ill be skipping most of if not all of tokkyuger.

i'd like to point out that the mecha looks like a train sandwich. literally the first thing I thought of when I saw it. I honestly think they blew their creativity budget on kyoryuger, and that's why this looks so bland. I want them to restart the microzord line with this when we get this show over here.

With color-swapping as the main gimmick, the "bland" suit design starts to make sense. If there's no major details or other parts in the way the costume/editing departments can swap colors around with no problems. It also explains why the Tokkyugers are referred to by numbers instead of their colors; the numbers don't change when they swap.

And I'd be willing to guess at the reason for the color-changing too. Does everyone remember in RPM when each Ranger suit had special abilities? That could also be applied here and explain why they have to change colors.

Those two add-on Zords really bring out the detail of the main Megazord a bit more. If we get a lot of these extra Trains then that might help the apparently lackluster design. I'm not on board for a purchase yet but I might be heading towards the station. :P

My thoughts exactly. Then again Boukenger was the 30th anniversary so that might explain the quality. Maybe we'll achieve that level again when the big 4-0 roles around in two years.

Not a fan of the suit design, but then again I wasn't a huge fan of the Kyoryuger suits when I first saw them either. :lol
