Which does nothing but make the question of why Yellow Mask, Flash Pink and Ryu Ranger still there more frustrating.. Quote:

For a show that's suppose to celebrate 20 years of Power Rangers, it's showing quite a few unadapted/pre-zyuranger sentai teams. I was furious at first when they showed dairanger in it (which I'm still kinda getting over) but now I see this! It's like saban brands/haim saban wants us to hate them/him.
To add to super sentai references in dino thunder (and also i dont think it was mentioned, in SPD where Sky has a picture of the Gorengers in his room), they're probably only references as it's stated that only fans believe Tommy was searching for pre-mmpr teams but it is unknown what the folders actually contained. So they are highly likely to be super sentai references/easter eggs not an indication that the unadapted sentai teams are pre-mighty morphin ranger teams (excluding dairanger) |
I really like the episode the flash and masked man suit for pink yellow I got by. I'm still taken them in as Easter eggs due to the fact kids will be wanting to learn more of the suits and powers later on if they stay in to the fandom. But I really like how Gia made the change to Dino thunder part of the call. By sAying legendary ranger mode Dino thunder turns key power up. But all in all I really did like this episode.

So the torrents up so I was able to watch the whole thing together rather then all the clips on Youtube.
I've said most of my opinions, but honestly the editing is just awful. Why was Blue in his Gosei suit when all the Legendary Rangers returned to Super Megaforce? We saw Blue turn into Super Mega Blue prior to that scene and Gokai Blue was not present for that scene in Gokaiger, so that footage was new and its not like there had been a cut Goseiger change, so why was he Megaforce Blue again? C'mon, Saban, there's absolutely no excuse when you're doing the footage yourself. The Double Disc scene still annoyed me too. Why was there new footage of Troy putting the disc in his sword when he clearly did not use the disc? It bugs the heck out of me. |
So we get our first proper tribute episode of the show, and its actually the worst one yet? Wow.
As much as I hate the fact they're using the Dairanger suits in this show, at least there I can see some sort of warped logic behind it since the White Ranger suit is eventually going to be used alongside them. But Maskman and Flashman? Inexcusable. I'm done defending any aspect of this show when its going to pull crap like this. Especially when they went to the effort of making some fairly decent new Megaforce footage for this. On the subject of Megaforce - if you don't want to treat it like a legendary power, stop editing things so it looks like it is. Seeing Megaforce Blue alongside all the Legendary Rangers was ridiculous. Also, "I sense a attack coming." has to be one of the worst lines this show has delivered ever. Horrible, just horrible. The only good thing about this episode was bringing back Jii, because I enjoyed him in Samurai. |

"Legendary Ranger Mode Blitz!" has also caused a lot of debate elsewhere it seems. Her delivery certainly didn't help. I believe she was supposed to be sort of announcing what they were doing, naming the onslaught of changes a "Blitz" rather then actually saying that Yellow Mask was from a team called "Blitz". |

If I'd called someone butthurt, I'd at least have a mod quietly taking me aside, but apparently it's perfectly okay to insult people (which is what that was, no which way about it) who wont be mindless goons letting this shit stream wash over them. Fuck man. Rant over, returns to cave. |
So I just clicked on this thread to read some feedback on what was almost certainly a terribly cameo by Jayden. Once I saw the stuff about the pre-MMPR suits, though, I had to find that clip on YouTube. This is just offensively lazy on Saban's part.

Who knows? Maybe the show will explain it by tying it back into the cameos of the pre-Zyu Sentai symbols in Dino Thunder. We won't know for sure until the last episode. |
He makes no sense!
Okay. Well what else do I say but "Okay"? One can never and should never be surprised by the audacity of Saban and his crew. He says that most of the people are same ones from years ago, right? I'm not entirely sure. The old days new how to craft characters, stories, impressive dialogue, emotion, heart and soul. Was it all perfect? No! Perfection was not the intention. It certainly wasn't then and it isn't now. The only problem, the lack of perfection just shows-up more now. We honestly thought we couldn't get worse than Turbo, then we got Overdrive later on. We thought we couldn't get worse than that, and we got Neo-Saban now. That being said here is a minute breakdown of the episode:
- Original footage is one of the few things they do perfectly now (though Megaforce Blue should not have been among Legendary Forms). - Vekar is certainly not a replica of Vrak. He is far more flamboyant in his actions. If original footage of the two is shown later, then the two will likely be at odds with each other. - The Jayden and Jii cameos were actually decent enough. - The Maskman and Flashman usage brings up many interesting questions: Was this planned? Were the insignias seen in Dino Thunder a reason why they allowed this? Is it sloppy editing? Does Saban have the rights to permit the usage of Pre-Zyuranger teams in small doses? Will we see more "new powers"? - Theory: In all likely hood, Saban probably cannot use the entirety of Pre-Zyuranger teams (probably doesn't have the rights to do so), but a single suit change by one ranger is probably an acceptable grey area. If so, why didn't Jake and Emma do all of the other changes (Midoranger, Green Sai, DenziPink). The best idea I can come up with now is look to the suits left in. Look closely, and you can see a very vague similarity between Yellow Mask and In Space Yellow as well Pink Flash and Time Force Pink. Did the editors get confused? Did they think noone would notice? Are Maskman and Flashman connected with In Space and Time Force? - We have a monster named Matacore and a cameo by a Ranger who used a bull. Edit the Bullzord in and have it look like he is lasering Brusiers into oblivion. Do that, and it puts some mild originality into the episode and compliments the Zord-Builder toyline. If Saban wants to sell toys, the show should compliment that instead of just advertise it. He takes a risk using Ranger forms the kids won't recognize. They may want figures of them. Personally speaking, it was a good episode that did exactly what such episodes are good for: dragging at the most crucial moments imaginable. The first half was decent enough, but the second became a crying shame. Maskman, Flashman, and Dairanger should have been left out. If he wants to use Dairanger, at least save them for a special like "Clash" where we can get a decent explanation that covers the gaps in 20 years worth of history and continuity. There is clearly a thought at work here, it just seems like it struggles to execute what it wants to convey. |

I will say now, though, that if Saban is lazy enough to leave in an appearance by the Miss America suit then this will be my new favorite season of Power Rangers ever. EVER. |

Im normally a serious Super Megaforce hater but honestly, this was probably one of the better episodes so far, if not the best. In terms of writing, you cant reinvent the wheel, but this was the most logical one ive seen, the action had a point, it kinda worked, credit to Jason Smith for doing the impossible and making me enjoy it.
Im ignoring the use of pre-zyu suits. My opinion doesnt count and will never count with Saban, so I refuse to waste my anger on pointless ranting. (obviously everybody else should feel free) |
Hearing all this just makes me want to see how Super Megaforce would have gone if Disney still owned the license.
Chances are it'd be doing the franchise more justice. And on two notes from earlier: 1. Even though I'm a definite Sentai fan moreso than PR, I still think that if your plan is to pay homage to the franchise then don't use any pre-Zyu suits without some type of explanation. It makes no sense, especially to older fans who don't follow Sentai or even know it exists. I'm assuming the "new powers" line from the Dairangers scene earlier was supposed to act as an explanation for EVERY non-PR team transformation from here on out and if that's the case...that's just lazy. 2. As stated before, "It's a show for kids anyway" shouldn't even be a valid excuse. Kids aren't stupid and not all of them have the attention span of a gold fish. It shouldn't be a reason for poor and inconsistent editing and lack of any type of explanation for why things are happening or why powers are suddenly appearing. It'd be like if Spider-man suddenly grew six extra eyes and just went "Huh. That's new." and went on with his day. You don't do that. |

So yeah, really wasn't a fan of this episode... Vekar was just frustrating to no end. I can't remember what it was exactly, but his mockery of the roll call was just so awkward and weird. Already said I don't like the Sentai changes included. But really they shouldn't have been there. And man... Jayden's cameo... Could the way they did it have been more disappointing? |

I hope Casey's cameo isn't as short as Jayden's.

YELLOW MASK IS NOT A POWER RANGER AND NEITHER IS PINK FLASH! WHY DID YOU INCLUDE THEM, HAIM? WHY?! And if the Fiveman logo was in Tommy's lab, I'm dreading the Five-Kun Dolls appearing for God knows what ill-explained reason! |

.... Dear Gosei. Alright, Average again.
I'm going to do Bad Good here. -=-Bad-=- MMPR isn't Street Fighter. You don't need to call out every move to make them work. I promise the Ninja Sword'll cut things pretty good if you just use it. Like a damn sword. Enough with using random Japanese Sentai suits without any explination or context. Dairanger was bad enough. But now we add Maskman and I think Fiveman? Or Bioman. Whatever it was it was random and wtf and didn't need to be there. Troy says Super Mega Win one more time I can't be held responsible for what I might do during my frothing nerdrage. Troy is not Marvelous. Marvelous had a soul, and emotions, and wasn't a scarcrow someone painted to look like a person. -=-Good-=- Gia and Emma. It was nice seeing Ji and Jayden. And hillarious that Jayden was in something and wasn't the worst actor in the room. Good on him. I think Vargas might be RoboKnight. Even the armor looks like a stripped Roboknight. It does. ... Yea, that's about it. |
Flashman.
And I'm honestly thinking more Samurai-style seasons would be better than this crap. |

"Samurai and Overdrive may continue to fight for "Who Sucks More" but they cannot hold the mantle of "Worst." Megaforce is the worst. For there is no direction, humanity, development, humor or purpose. A botched story or a Copy/Paste is still a story, but if you haven't any story at all, you cannot achieve anything." Overdrive wasn't good, but it's like the entirety of David Tennant's run as The Doctor when compared to Stupid Mega Farce. Fuck this Season! May it rot in the Fires of Hell with Next Mutation and Masked Rider! |
... Jiminy friggin' Cricket, guys. It's like this show kicks puppies off of rooftops with a lot of people! I mean, yeah, it's not great, but aren't we going a bit too far?

I don't think anybody's going too far. The problem is is that the show is undeniably lazily written, acted and edited. There's issues with nearly every scene. Even the original footage manages to contradict the other original footage (such as Gosei Blue) and they even add things to the Gokaiger footage to stop them making sense, even if they just left them alone they'd be perfect in the PR context (such as the Double Disc) and those are all incredibly minor issues compared to the lack of plot, acting, lack of proper character focus, lazy editing, etc. can you honestly not see why that's a problem?
But apparently some people like that, considering "Excellent" and "Good" votes are at a whopping and undeserving 17. |
I'm just a fan if hyperbole...
So how long until someone compares One More Day to this crap or vice versa? |
