So I gave Super another chance as this is the tribute to my favourite season and a lot of the reactions to this episode have been pretty positive...but...well...why? It was so bad, and once again about the only good stuff that came from this, came from Gokaiger.
This whole episode was a pathetic representation of Casey, and a muddled representation of the series it was supposed to be tributing. I mean they bothered to establish a specific stance and style for both Emma and Jake...only to not shoot a single clip of them actually applying that during the fight? Also lol Phoenix "animal" spirit. And what is all this shit about no weapons fighting? Since when? What the hell does any of this have to do with Jungle Fury? It also happened way too quickly, and with the amount that happened over such a short space of time took all the impact away from everything and made it feel ridiculously contrived. Especially Troy's crisis of faith or whatever the fuck that was supposed to be. And even with the good Gokaiger footage, moments like when Gia turned into a version of an....already female Ranger who never had a skirt...the hell? I know "sentai footage" but if there is no in show reason then in terms of Power Rangers it's a plot hole. |

It's also a kids program and you might be over-thinking it just a little :lol |

Why are you being so pedantic? I apologise, I should have said "continuity error" and not "plot hole", but that doesn't change the fact that Gia becomes a female version of a female Ranger, who never had a skirt, but does in this. Which makes no sense in the context of this franchise.
Considering they shoot so many pointless scenes of the Megaforce Rangers stood around in their Goseiger outfits, and they did shit like edit in OO Red into the line up and stuff, why leave that in? It's that weird attention to detail in one area, then a complete lack of it in another that is easily the worst part of this show. |

So in context here it more or less plays out the same. When they become a ranger of another gender it conforms to the user, not the original costume. |
That just isn't true. In Gokaiger, female suits without skirts don't magically grow them when they're changed into them with a key. Deka, Geki etc etc So in the context of Power Rangers, Wild Force yellow was a female ranger without a skirt, so in terms of continuity of both the source footage AND the continuity of Power Rangers, Wild Force yellow should have no skirt.
|
Let me get this straight... no one is mentioning the slight editing error that was the Turboranger appearance in A Lion's Alliance, but we are complaining about Wild Force Yellow having a skirt?!
|
Yeah because the skirt thing was noticeable and not a micro second of footage that you couldn't physically see without some prior knowledge or if you were looking for it.

I'm not saying the Turboranger thing was right, or okay, but with Megaforce's 99 problems, a fraction of a second of editing error ain't one. |

I'm talking about Gokaiger and characters of opposing genders using keys of the others. To differentiate suits they did this. Skirts are made for the female version of male costumes. And male versions of female suits are made as well. I'm not sure why you aren't agreeing with me as this is fact. Female suits that didn't have skirts standard didn't change, that's true. But in order to differentiate the various Gokai Changes they do indeed swap the suit attributes on a lot of the ones that need it. Case in point for Gokaiger: http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800...0/834/nptl.png I could give a shit that Wild Force decided to be ass backwards and use footage of a male character and call it female. Gao Yellow is male. So when Luka used the key in Gokaiger a skirt was added. It's stupid they didn't edit it for Super megaforce but in Gokaiger's context there's literally nothing wrong with it at all. There is no continuity error between Gaoranger and Gokaiger. But there is a weird one between Wild Force & Megaforce. |

You could argue this isn't an issue worth so many posts - but my wider point is there is no quality control on this season at all. One scene will have as much attention to detail as one should expect, while the next is haphazard slapdash pile of fuck. |

The skirt problem was also present for last episode, with MMPR Yellow and Lost Galaxy Yellow having skirts and will likely continue on for Time Force and Lightspeed Rescue.
I totally agree that there should be original footage there (I'm surprised that the MMPR scene remained unchanged considering they got their asses handed to them), but I've reserved myself to not expecting effort in SMF. |
I'll just leave this here.

Oh yeah I forgot to mention that as well, Troy finally finds personality in this episode...and turns out to be a massive DICK.

But what is Troy's excuse? WE LOST OUR FUCKING WEAPONS GUYS, COME ON. Like calm down, mate? Noah has been up all night searching on the database to help you guys, and all you can do is scream at him about losing your weapons which you IMMEDIATELY got back in the next transformation, and wasn't ever a big deal in the first place. |
Troy's rage over them letting go of their weapons reminds me of a 12-15 year old raging over Call of Duty and yells every 20~ seconds about going for the objective while spewing racist terms and calling everyone's mom a b***h :lol

I could totally imagine Troy as the sort of frat boy dick who is all mouth over online games despite absolutely sucking at it. But that is the problem, the first time Troy gets tangible characterisation it paints him as a brainless douchesack. |
Troy was an even bigger dick than Hans was in Frozen. And that's saying something.
|
I didn't really get his douche-ness either. Yes, they had their weapons pulled out of their hands, but then they proceeded to force him into a retreat by fighting hand to hand. Even if the dialogue was just "Give us our weapons back!" "How dare you take our weapons!" "weapons, weapons, weapons!", they still won that fight. It just didn't make sense to me, Troy had no reason to be so frustrated. Ahim and Don weren't good hand to hand fighters so they had a reason to feel put out by the fact they were bothered by the lack of weapons, but Emma and Jake have been constantly shown fighting hand to hand throughout MF and the MF suited scenes of SMF, I know footage restrictions, but it came off weak.

And I said it before, but since it came up again, I'll say it again. Ahim matches Emma's personality in her movements almost perfectly, so does Gia becoming Luka. You can see Gia swinging her swords cockily like that. But Marvelous into Troy, Joe into Noah, and espcially Doc into Jake... that just doesn't work. |
