The ripping faces I can forgive. it's the juvenile sex jokes, the wrecking balls scrotum, the racist twins, all of that.

Quitting Transformers because of Bay was silly. The movies are awful, but in an era with MTMTE and Generations we're better then we've ever been quality-wise! The only other times with Transformers this good was back during Beast Wars and Animated!

One of the prospects that excites me the most about a new Power Rangers movie franchise is the merchandising. Whether Bay's movies were good or not, they sold a lot of toys and gave us some of the best years in Transformers. This could do the same with Power Rangers, propelling it to that action figure juggernaut it once held and lost to Transformers.

I just hope it proves big enough to get some Figuarts of them. THAT excites me :D

I do wonder how the Japanese market will react to a blockbuster American film? Will they produce toys for it?

That's something I've always wondered.

No matter who is directing and or writing this movie what Saban and Lionsgate really need to do is hire someone that is either already invested in the Power Rangers lore or someone who thinks its interesting enough to tell a great story with it.

If they just get someone who hates what PR is than this movie will probably not going to turn out good.

Honestly, I just hope the movie doesn't affect the show megatovely. Like it will undoubtedly affect the show no matter what, but will it mean a lackluster tv series influenced heavily by the movie or will the show go on to be it's own thing, boosted by the movie's success.

Probably the latter. When the movie is going to be its own continuity I dont see how it should affect the tv show.

I wonder if the movie will get a Japanese release? I can't see the movie doing well in theaters in Japan if they have Super Sentai.

Wow haha, only Chapelle would have a chance of salvaging a movie with THAT cast.

Why not? A big budget version of Power Rangers would do fairly well over there ,I'd think if it gets people curious enough.

I think the first MMPR movie went direct to video over there. The Japanese dubs of Power Rangers tend to go direct to video or only air on a premium channel from Toei. People in Japan would be confused by this movie.

...Confused?! I don't see how. I don't see why it won't do well if it's a major studio release either. I mean the Transformers movies did well over there andfrom what I remember and it really isn't THAT big of a franchise over there.

The movie market is different now though. The international market in Hollywood is larger outside US than it was before. Anyhow I'd like to hear more perspectives. :)

I'm more curious as to what Motif they are going to use, unless it's really going to be a updated MMPR.

Also I kinda feel bad for that MMPR fan made film since, Saban is finally going back to the big theaters now.

Jason was the WHAT?! From what I've seen of Jason in MMPR and Zeo, he is in no way a bully. He's probably more of the guy all the girls want to..... "date".

They need to have one thing in the movie:

They need to incorporate the Go, Go Power Rangers song into the movie in some way.

Pay attention to the show better.

Really, Bulk and Skull will usually do something completely inoffensive and Jason/Tommy/Kimberly/Zack will actually do something cruel to humiliate them in front of everyone and the episode will end with everyone laughing at them. Not really good.

MMPR lives in a pseudo world where the lanky guy and the overweight guy are the bullies while the jocks are the victims, except that the end result is always everyone laughs at the lanky guy and overweight guy anyway.

I heard a dumb theory from an IGN video that JDF could have a role in the movie like Old spock, and he goes back in time to change the conflict.

But if that's the case, then the last Super Megaforce episode would be the time to do it.

To be fair, in the early episodes Bulk and Skull were genuine, cruel bullies. They later evolved into more harmless comic relief bullies.

Yea, Locke. I don't know what episodes of MMPR you were watching but the only 'bully' characters were Bulk and Skull and they were more comic relief than anything. Jason was the stereotypical hero character. Always did what was right, helped the young ones learn the true meaning of karate, always there for his friends.

He never bullied anyone.

People think the new Godzilla movie and the upcoming TMNT film will create more fans of those franchises. So it's possible that the MMPR reboot will do the same.

Those things are not Ninja Turtles. Those things are another of that monster's abominations and should be put down now before they breed a sequel.

If the new movie spawn a new legion of fans, we will have the fake fans as well with comments like "Power Rangers ZXO was my favorite season ever" and "Everyone knows that Bobby is the real Green Ranger". It won't surprise me if the newer fans will be like "Super Sentai looks like a cheap rip off".

There's already enough of those already. A majority of the comments on the IGn article were people like, "THE MIGHTY MORPHIN RANGERS ARE THE ONLY POWER RANGERS" and "WHAT CRAP ARE THEY SHOWING KIDS WITH THIS NINJA STORM?"

Geewunners: They exist in all long-running fandoms and piss off everyone else in the fandom.

Pokemon's not as bad about it. But maybe that's because there's a lot more people who started playing at Gen 3 and 4 using the internet now.
