Primal is definitely another MP I could see myself springing for (especially if they do Megatron as well). But now I'm thinking I should actually get a Prime as well to go with him and Star Saber...

MP-10 Optimus Prime gets a reissue this month, so anyone who wants to pick one up should do now before the aftermarket-prices go nuts again.

Watched RID today. What's up with the Decepticons all having animal features lately? It seems like ever since the movies, they been incorporating that into the designs.
|
I guess the toys for AOE must have sold well that Hasbro thought it would be a good idea to have Decepticons as animals.
|
But....they've already done that. *points to Beast Wars*

In RID they have Robot Modes based on Animals and normal Vehicle modes. Beast Wars was Robots turning into animals. |
I meant that even in Robot form they had animal traits in BW. Rattrap had the rat teeth, Cheetor had, what looked like, whiskers....Tigertron had cat teeth!!

My whole point is that for a while now they keep incorporating animal features into their Robot modes when they have no reason to. So my big question is, Why? What is the point? Aesthetic?
|
Because its a cool idea? What other point needs their to be?
|
Guess I'm too old school. I prefer them to look cool, yet there be an actual reason for the design choices.
|
Because mainly it creates a distinct visual difference between them and the Autobots. But its not like its constantly happened since the movies so I don't really understand your point there. Neither Animated or Prime had Decepticons with animal traits save for the ones that were actually animals (and Airachnid).
I don't particularly like a lot of them either, but then I have issues with the 'Cons in RID because half of them aren't really 'Cons at all, they're just petty criminals that seem to have gotten branded as them. RID as a show has grown on me a lot since it started though. |
I haven't watched any of the other series since...Energon? Which one was the one with the Keys? I saw parts of that one too. Part of my just doesn't get the idea. I'm too old school. I'm too much of a fan of G1/G2.

I will strongly recommend Transformers Animated to anyone; it has TONS of great Easter Eggs relating to the older shows. You should check out Transformers Prime too; its the one right before Robots In Disguise and has some pretty good moments. |

Mother.
Fucking. Sky-Lynx. |
Oh hey it's Sky-Lynx... as a combiner? Fuck off Hasbro.
Only interesting thing I'm spotting is Legends Shockwave (too small but still looks cool) the rest is lame. |
Sky-Lynx? Interesting choice.
Bruticus? Neat. |
Bruticus looks awesome, didn't expect Sky Lynx, but he looks neat as well.
Some of those Autobot Deluxes look neat the others though look pretty bad. |
Bruticus looks as awesome as I'd expected, glad to see Brawl is a new mold and Swindle is definitely one of the more impressive retools from CW so far.
Sky Lynx is a pleasant surprise as well, and Sky Reign looks exactly like the type of ridiculous that I love. Sky Lynx also looks like he could make an effective retool into Snaptrap, which would be great. The Seacons and Piranhacon are obscure, but they're one of my favorite combiner teams and I'm hoping they'll finally get some recognition in CW. |
Way out of the loop now thanks to traveling... Had a friend sending me pics all day though and quite like most of what I've seen. Will comment later in detail.
But mostly, I'm interested in knowing (and it's much more likely I'll get noticed here than trying a TFW thread) if anyone managed to ask Hasbro why the Takara Devastator isn't gimped like theirs? Because goddamnit yeah I need to now keep on top of shit to be able to preorder that. Takara or bust. |
It certainly was a mixed Botcon for Hasbro.
Sky Reign is the shit. At first I had my heart set on Defensor but now it's a toss up between Victorion, Defensor, Optimus Maximus and Sky Reign. All four look boss as beeswax. As for Devastator; Hasbro and Takara focus on different audiences for TFs. Since there is more of a pull for pure G1 in Japan Takara is spending more for a admittedly better version of Big Green although Hasbro has availability and options (retail and SDCC) on their side. As of now it's a waiting game to see which Construticon set will be the clear winner. |
Ruination when?

So sort of related to transformers, but this is making a comeback:

Neat.
|
So whose silhouette is this?
http://i.imgur.com/FlZZh30.jpg Limbs don't match Bruticus and chest doesnt' seem to match SkyLynx. Victorion maybe? |
|
Head doesn't match either of them either. Computron?
|
The new Sky Lynx looks awesome! Hope his legs are full of ratchet-y goodness.

The arms are much more difficult to make out, but at least on the left arm there looks to be a wing. No idea for the right arm. That head shape doesn't look familiar either. |
So here I am, completely disappointed.
Combiner Wars is still uninteresting, they ruined Sky-Lynx for me, and not a single word of anything Beast Wars. Thanks Hasbro. The only thing remotely interesting is the Legends Shockwave, for which I have already decided to wait on the Takara version since the prototype shown in the display severely lacks detail, compared to the render. Buzzsaw is interesting as well, not because it's Buzzsaw, but because we might see a big Soundwave that can interact with it if they do more of those data slugs. |

Sky-Lynx is supposed to be a shuttle that transforms into a dinosaur beast which also splits into a bird and a lynx, not a damn combiner. If they made the bird and the lynx with ports for combiners I wouldn’t care, but not doing the bird at all and reduce the lynx to the head of a combiner torso... WTF?! |
