April 2017 has nothing at the moment besides Fast 8. August 2017 is open at the moment. August would be perfect for Power Rangers. If it comes out two weeks after Spider-Man. Power Rangers also comes out the same week as Dark Tower and Boss Baby (Dreamwork's newest movie. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter also comes out the week afterwards.

Ah. Then I guess I don't know why they're aiming for the Jan release.

He's just completed a film in Canada with Dennis Quaid and Brit Robertson where he plays a quarterback. He's also only 18 years old. (I thought he looked older)

Super sick of the alien trash monster Look pionmiered by the live action TF movies. I'm glad they didn't go with that set up. the concept art that came out a while back with the pink jet looks far better.

I haven't particularly been interested in the movie but...did anyone hear the rumors from Collider that this is in the same ocntinuity as Dino Charge...and actually post Dino Charge. And that the main villain will be Scorpina?

The problem now thanks to Star trek is that every reboot being made now could be J.J.ed even though Power rangers already has a series that exists as it's own thing with RPM. Also Power Ranger canon is loose as hell so why bother making an old villain who didn't much screen time to begin with part of the movie reboot?

Could be possible that Saban wants a connection to the TV series somehow. The reason for Star Trek's time travel method was so that they could establish a continuity with the TV series canon.

I'm still taking these rumours with a grain of salt. If only Saban and Lionsgate will just give more reveals. :lol Admittedly it's still a long way off from the release date.

Because Scorpina is ubiquitous to Mighty Morphin' and her final fate has never been divulged. Since the whole "Hexagon" plan from years past fell through (which I personally feel should never have been conceived save for the returning villains), any chance at a Scorpina revival seemed like a perfect wish in a perfect world.

This movie will be screened in Italy as part of an agreement and expansion between Lionsgate and Leone Films Group

I think that's the glory of what they're doing. They are hiring people that are hardly known, just like Saban did back in the day, and like they do now.

Huh, seems like at least Paramount is confident with a January release date. :lol Perhaps it's not such a bad month after all.

There's nothing wrong with that, but that also doesn't fill me with excitement, since I don't know anyone or their abilities. And unlike a TV series, where the actors have time to grow into their roles, they only have one shot with a movie. So if they don't fit the character immediately, things will fall flat quickly (See: the new Star Trek vs the new Fantastic Four).

Don't get me wrong, if they're great actors who happen to just not get many gigs, then awesome. I'm all for it. I'm just hesitant since I don't know their acting chops, so I can't prematurely judge them :lol

It's up to the director to build those relationships. The Star Trek movies did very well considering the 5 or so hours of total running time they've had between the two movies. Can't comment on the Fantastic Four since I've not seen it, but I haven't heard good things about it.

The director has to focus on the limitations of the cinema running time and work around that. It could work well (like in the original Star Wars film) if he knows what he's doing.

Its interesting that Lionsgate is revealing these actors as the red ranger, pink ranger, etc. instead of as Jason or Kimberly. It could validate the rumors that this movie is not a MMPR reboot, but a new story & new characters.

I wonder who's gonna play Zordon. Will they even have Zordon?

According to the rumours for Zack's casting, this may not necessarily be the case.

Well, not having Zordon is like a BTTF without Doc Brown, but who knows. I won't rule out the possibility at the moment cause you never know how far or close they will be to the source material.
As long as they don't bring the sentient booger from Tattooed Teenage Alien Fighters from Beverly Hills.

Didn't the character descriptions say the original team? This casting could be a homage to Adam's actor being Asian. If Trini is played by a black actress, then that could be an homage to Aisha's actress.
