But it's surprising to hear that you don't hate any series. I'm a harsh critic, but I try to be fair in my feelings towards a series. I can't fathom how to not just loathe some series :lol |
The only series I have issues with personally anyways is Hibiki, though I think a lot of people have issues due to that mess.
The first part of Drive I enjoyed, the middle part when they got all the toys over with was a bit iffy but the main villain plot kept me watching, but yes it was kinda meh. The third part is when it gets good, and at the fourth and last part the show became really good, the characters drove the show really well and Drive if anything has some of the best characters in the franchise. Personal opinion anyways. I would say wizard is the weakest series overall other than Hibiki, but that is more due to the immense filler issues the show had. Then again my favorite rider is still Decade, if only for the sound effects and the fact I get addicted to TCG and just flat out love the card gimmick riders. |

I'll also say that while Hibiki is certainly far superior before the staff change, I thought the second half was better than I was told it'd be. It helped that other people had dragged expectations down to rock bottom for me. |

I'm probably gonna follow OT simply because they get the subs out faster. How is Orange Lion's version, anyway? |

(O-T did apparently did make a mistake where it's supposed to be Takeru's birthday that Akari invited him to, and not hers... which actually makes more sense. I think they might've updated the script, but the hard subs are still wrong. Oh well.) |

They also use colored text for the transformation sounds only, though nothing even remotely resembling TVN's stuff or anything. They also used a really grungy orange font to sub the song at the end, which looked kinda ugly and actually bothered me a bit. On the other hand, unlike OT, they did actually sub the song. I prefer simpler, straightforward subs and honorifics are a plus, so I think I'm going to stick with OrangeLion from now on. They feel like a nice medium between Over-Time and TVN's...TVN-ness. |
I guess I'll give Orange Lion's a watch and see for myself, since it sounds different, but I can't quite tell whether or not I'd like or dislike the changes from descriptions alone.

I'm just being thorough for thoroughness's sake. |
Well thanks to all you lovely people (And some looking around on my own) I was able to watch it and OH Jeebus am I hyped up now. I dont see the problem with the clear cover on his chest so long as the figuart doesn't come out looking like trash (Heres looking at you Kiwami Arms) Over all I loved the show and especially the main hero Takeru, he seems so likeable in that he has his dream of becoming a hero and now he has to use the powers of other heroes to defeat these enemies and gather the Eyecons. GAH I love it!!

Wanted to check out the OL sub but ended up watching the OT sub as usual since I can't find a DL for OL's version.
Anyway, my first impression was that it was just OK. The pacing felt weird (maybe rushed) and I fear the monk character is going to get annoying fast as he was a little grating already. That said, the actors seem to fit their roles well and I love the suit designs and gimmicks - both of which are big pluses in my book. Curious to see where things go from here and hoping for the best. |
Finally watched the first episode. I loved it. Yurusen is cute and funny, and a complete wise-pass.
Ghost: "You said I couldn't die!" Yurusen: "I didn't say it wouldn't hurt." Of course I'm paraphrasing, but you get the point. Love it already. Now for my speculations. We know the Ganma possess items to take form, otherwise their like those grunts Ghost dispatched easily with Musashi Damashii. So since the item itself isn't destroyed, does that mean that that particular Ganma can come back at some point? |
So...I felt like I just saw 2 or 3 episodes of a Rider series. They crammed SO much in, it was nuts! Right off the bat he got 2 forms, we had Eyecons explained, Takeru freaking died (A new record)! Not that this blitz pacing was a bad thing, I quite enjoyed it. I'm just curious to know exactly what the monsters ARE and what the Sage's deal is. Also, 5akeru only being visible under certain circumstances reminded me a bit of The World Ends With You.

Speculation only here naturally. The standard Ganma seems to be very weak but not mindless if we take the last episode of Drive into account. The items are potentially a possession of the soul from their life that works as a catalyst and allows them to regain their power and skill, with additional power added on top since they transform into monsters. When their eye gets destroyed though, the soul is likely lost so I do not think they can recreate the same Ganma again. Potentially more catalysts can be added onto the same Ganma and increase its level. If the Eye containing the soul is not destroyed and the catalyst is regained then reviving the same Ganma will likely be possible. If the catalyst does not have to be a possession of the souls previous life though, then we will likely see some repeats here and there. Speculation speculation speculation :D Edit : In Japanese mythology there are a lot of ghosts/yokai etc that are born just by an item having existed for a long time or in a certain state which could be part of the process of creating a Ganma. |
Watched Nihon's Subs of Ghost, still loved it a lot the second time. As I probably watch it the third time over the weekend I might love Ghost a lot.

Finally watched it. A bit fast, but I like Ghost's personality and it looks like an interesting show. I like how they immediately start by setting up the bad guys, almost reminds me of Agito (lets hope Ghost turns out better).
Sadly, Ghost's rider kick is kind of lame. Quote:
Also, in Wizard, wasn't Haruto technically dead before the show even started? Quote:

I would say that he isn't since he didn't become the Dragon Phantom. People like Medusa, Phoenix, and Gremlin, yes they are dead. |
Compared to the last few series starters, an actual low amount of CG, again compared to how the last few shows opened. The point is explained, and yes, a rather lack luster Rider Kick, but the Mushashii finisher was a bit more satisfying. I always like it when a Kamen Rider actually uses his bike in combat, so another +1. The battlefield jumps were kind of annoying. I mean one second he is on the street, the next right at the beach? At least do one of those big jump to the sky transitions! I hope we get to see those mooks again, I really like the idea of the faceless guys in hoodies for some reason. Speaking of faceless, I really like the blank form of Ghost. Had a Faiz/Tron vibe to it. I see some fun potential with the side cast as well.

Kinda lame. Gaim wasn't so bad, but mostly because they did way less kicks. |

Godai dies in like episode 15, and Gentaro dies in episode 30 or so. Takeru beat them both. :lol |
You only know about Godai because I told you!
