LVUR04 Kamen Rider Genm Action Gamer and LVUR03 Kamen Rider Snipe Shooting Gamer:

Currently debating with myself what I want more: a figure of Snipe, my favorite Rider design from this show, or to not pay another 28 dollars on top of what is definitely going to be an already ludicrously expensive month. I guess time will tell.
They look pretty good. |
Though I'm not a huge toy collector, I think that the figure for recent KR's toys are getting better and better. I mean you could compare OOO Combo Change toys with the current Ex-Aid Level Up toys. Current figures seem to have more articulations and it can rival the Figuarts a bit if it's added with more details. Not only that, the proportion of the figures are much better here too. You could see how escalated the toys are for recent series.

I'm still trying to figure out how the Gashat works. The main button does the Taddle Quest announcement, but I haven't quite figured out the pattern that causes it to alternate between the happy and unhappy 8-bit sounds.
Holding small button 1 causes the initial "Let's game" henshin, and keeping it held while holding down small button 2 produces the "Level up" sound. Holding small 2 and the large main button for several seconds produces a secondary "Taddle Quest" jingle. I keep trying different combinations - I don't yet understand Japanese enough for the printed instructions or YouTube videos to be entirely helpful - and I haven't yet figured out how to activate sounds like a critical strike. (The videos could be a good resource, but given the tiny, close-together buttons, I can't always see what's happening.) Have any of you been able to get a critical strike sound out of these? If so, how? I haven't yet found a comprehensive list of what these things can do. |
From what I understand the game clear/game over sounds are just random. I still don't have any Gashats in hand, so I couldn't help you with triggering the finisher sounds unfortunately.
Speaking of Gashats though, I was recently thinking about how I was kind of annoyed that none of the Proto Gashats besides MAX and GR look to be getting released, as it seems like they may have some degree of plot significance. I considered maybe they would get them out through Premium Bandai, and, well, that could happen. But then I realized these sorts of recolors would be the perfect thing to do with the Gashapons at some point down the line. Like, you know. Maybe. The fact that they're starting so late and with only a couple to each release it may take them a while to catch up to the DX long enough to do extra stuff, but I really do want them to do this. They're also monochromatic so they probably wouldn't suffer too much from lacking lights (as I'm assuming they'd just be white if they had them). Also wonder if all the Proto's would have different sounds or if that's just a Mighty Action X thing. PMAX is the only one with color, so I could see it being special even among the Proto Gashats. Hopefully they would though. |
Wow, I don't normally collect the gimmick line for figures, but Genm and Snipe look amazing. I may actually preorder Genm (until a Figuarts version comes out) since he's my favourite Rider so far.
|
Speaking of LVUR, Lazer has been revealed.
http://gameridernews.tumblr.com/post...twitter-posted And he looks...honestly really awful. I know they skimp on the paint for these gimmick figures, but leaving even the Driver unpainted? Egh. The mold itself doesn't look too great either. Hopefully the awkwardness of the bike is made up for by its transformed Chanbara/Hunter modes, but I doubt it. Which will be unsurprising. Transforming gimmick toys never look good. They just don't. Anyway, speaking of Lazer...HLJ opened up orders for a restock of the Kimewaza Slot Holder for all of like 5 minutes on Thursday. I got an order in but just barely. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping there aren't any problems fulfilling it. The restock is supposed to come this month, so I guess I'll find out any day now. Hoping to ship out my stuff as soon as Robots comes out. With any luck I'll have five Gashats in just a couple of weeks. Anyway anyway. We have episode titles for next month so we can determine that (as expected) Beat comes out on the 12th and Combat on the 26th. Unfortunately none of them make direct reference to Chanbara, so it's still up in the air whether its stuff comes out on the 12th or 19th. 19th does seem more likely, but who knows. It's gonna be damn silly if the easiest way to get GENM's transformation item ends up being Lazer's weapon tho. |
Laser looks fine. I knew there would be some that would be griping about him. Everyone expects SHFA levels these days on cheaper alternative lines.
|
I'm not expecting SHF level work. I'm only expecting Lazer to at least match the other figures in his line. The amount of paint apps on Lazer is disappointing, especially compared to others like Snipe which despite somewhat intricate designs have nearly complete detailing.
Leaving things like the Driver or the game pad armor unpainted on Lazer is just lazy, and chalking it up to it just being the cheaper line to me rings hollow when he's more expensive than the individual Riders. At 3800 MSRP he's barely any cheaper than the Ghostriker SHF was. I really don't think expecting a decent paintjob on him is unreasonable when they've delivered on the other LVUR figures. The mold can be forgiven because of the necessity of the gimmick, but there's no excuse for the barebones paintjob. |
I'm not seeing the complaint about the barebones paintjob. Looks like your typical gimmick line motorcycle paint scheme. If anything, he looks a lot better than the other gimmick line motorcycles. Hell, I can even see the pink handle of the driver on the seat area of Laser.
The other LVUR figures are missing paint on the drivers as well as the weapons on Ex-Aid, and it looks the same for Snipe and Genm, being all one color. But somehow that's fine? |
Like I said, I'm only holding Lazer to the standard of his fellow LVUR figures. Yes, the other Riders' Drivers are missing paint, but at least the base green color is painted. Lazer's is left the same yellow as his body. No one is expecting all the little details to be filled in. None of the Rider's shoes or the little screens and Gashats on the belts are fully colored, and it doesn't matter, just as it doesn't matter that Lazer's blinkers or taillights are left unpainted. But a Rider's belt is a pretty major part of their design, and I at least can't see neglecting to paint it the right color as being anything but a glaring flaw. The handle is painted on, which is something, but that something is still less than what the other Riders got.
Ditto on the game pad armor. These are game Riders, and one of the biggest distinguishing features of that is the game pad armor. Leaving it silver is meaningless. The other guys at least got stickers to fill in the color, which is, again, more than he got. And the weapons comparison isn't very relevant. Lazer doesn't come with any weapons. The Chambara Gamer will, however, come with the Spearow, and it will without a doubt have no paint whatsoever. And that'll be fine, and no one will care, because again, I'm only holding Lazer to the standard of the other LVUR figures. Maybe you're right and I'm just being a nitpick, but I honestly don't see how expecting him to get a little blotch of green paint and maybe some stickers for the armor is so unreasonable on a figure they're selling for almost 40 bucks. |
You're also comparing vastly different shapes of figure. Humanoid against a vehicle. I simply don't get it. If it bothers you so much, grab some paint and fix it yourself. I've done it for figures that are much more expensive than these.
I'm sure more detail and care were given to the humanoid characters, as they could reuse parts and molds. Laser, not so much. Plus, we don't know how involved his gimmick is going to be, as he apparently gets a humanoid form evidently (I think). For his price, he's far from awful. And I've seen awful and mostly from higher end lines no less. Also, I just took notice that Brave has his sword painted. Two different colors no less. Yet, none of the other Riders have their weapons painted. Ain't that a thing. |
Already got requests from people to repaint their Lazer when they get them in. Like holy crap XD
Gonna also be repainting a friend's LVUR weapons as well. Since my sis is going to Japan for her honeymoon today, debating asking her to pick up a Gasshat lol. Already have Taddle Quest and Shakariki on the way, so maybe Bang Bang shooting? |
Ok, I just got my first Gashat, Shakariki Sports and: it is great. It's a good size--while the box was smaller than I expected, the Gashat really fills it up, and it fits well in my hands. The metallic green color is great, and all the decals and such are neatly applied and look great. The white stuff that hides the design on the clear part has a really nice texture. This is a damn nice toy.
My only problem with it is that like all the talking Rider toys I have, it's really damn loud, and in a house with walls as thin as mine, that's a problem. I thought I'd be able to fix it by taping over the speakers, but it looks like the sound can get out of every damn aperture. And since it's just two halves screwed together... the whole thing leaks sound is what I'm saying. Not ideal. Also, I tried to take it apart but one of the screws is minuscule and in trying to unscrew it I'm pretty sure I stripped it. Friggin hell. This doesn't bode well for my chances of replacing PMAX's back. Though I guess I'll worry about that later. Should probably buy a properly sized screwdriver... But anyway, those are relatively minor gripes. This thing is cool, and I love it. I'm really not gonna regret collecting these things. Anyway, some folks were wondering about how to trigger certain sounds. I don't know if there's still any need, but I figure I should document some of the combinations I know of so far. Also found one new thing that I at least haven't seen or heard anywhere else. So for the purposes of this, the black trigger button=T, and the two smaller buttons are L and R (holding it upright with the buttons facing you). Press T -> [Gashat Name] -> Press T -> Game Over/Game Clear sounds (Randomized) -> Press T -> [Gashat Name] -> etc. Hold L -> Level 1 sound Hold L -> Press R -> Level 2 sound Hold R -> Press L -> [Pause] + Level 3 sound Hold L+R -> Press T -> Kimewaza! + Standby sound -> Press T -> Critical Strike sound Hold L+R -> Press T -> Kimewaza! + Standby sound -> Release R -> Critical Finish sound Hold L+R -> Press T -> Kimewaza! + Standby sound -> Release L -> [Last Part of Gashat Name (e.g. Sports)] -> You can keep pressing L, which will cause the name to repeat There are other sounds I'm pretty sure (there's one that plays the level 3 sound but without the Driver sounds or a pause), but this is what I've found so far. That last one is one I had not seen before in any of the videos I'd seen, and it's certainly a bit odd. It just says "Sports" and then the light stays on for a dang long time. It's curious. I assume it's intended for a Gashacon Weapon with its own non-Strike/Finish finisher (the Gashacon Slasher, maybe?). What's interesting is it uses the second part of the name instead of the first (Sports as opposed to Shakariki) like the other finishers do. You can also just hold L again and press T and it'll do the normal Critical Strike sound. Little odd. Anyway, it's a cool little thing, this. Can't wait to get all the others. |
Barnstenchfartface: awesome! Thank you! I just produced sounds from Taddle Quest I hadn't managed before. I did uncover one, though:
Hold R -> Press T -> Pause = The last part of the level 3 sound |
No prob.
And yeah, that was the one I was thinking of that I hadn't managed to get. I was messing around with it for...too long...until I finally got it right just now. Shoulda just checked back here, heh. |
Sis and her husband are honeymooning in Japan. They're in Akihabara. Sis sent me these pics-
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CvlwUKoUsAEXzem.jpg https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CvlwUKsUMAA61Bo.jpg She said she'll grab me one Ex-Aid item, but I won't find out what it is til they get back :lol |
Heads up for those who may be interested. HLJ has put up Gekitotsu Robots for preorder. I assume other stores may have also but HLJ is all I know.
Good thing too. Was worried we would have to wait until it came out for it to go up. Load off my mind. http://hlj.com/product/BANN10811/Sci |

Never thought I'd see one of these again, but hey, Bandai is Bandai. |

I just have this bookmarked. The series listing seems to work better than searching for it, for some reason.

I have a bad feeling that Brave and Snipe are gonna get severely left behind in terms of power ups compared to Ex-aid. I hope at least when the summer movie comes out, Brave and Snipe get their own versions of the Double Rider Gashat.
|
Whelp. Sis revealed to me what she picked up for me-
BAKUSOU BIKE!...and the kimewaza slot holder. |

Gekitotsu Robots is the Gashat I'm most eager to get my hands on. The sounds are awesome and once I actually realized what the graphic was it became one of my faves. The fact that the Gamers are just gonna be hanging out there in the corners is hella cute, tbh.
I wonder what Chambara will look like. Hopefully cool! Should be getting a payment request for Robots tomorrow or so...hopefully the Slot Holder restock comes in soon too, I wanna ship out my junk. |
I don't know what Ex-Aid is doing to me but I'm obsessed. This is the first show that I'm going ALL IN. I got my first henshin belt and I'm loving it. We are only 4 episodes in and I already have so much stuff! I know there's a lot more coming too. Is anyone else scared to see how much more stuff will be released in the the third and fourth quarter catalogs?
|
The last couple quarters usually have less stuff than the first two. The fourth in particular, if it follows the previous years, should have just one thing. It isn't gonna be too bad.
|
So, some weird thing has just popped up on some sites. It appears to be a bundle of a Ganbarizing card binder and a Ganbarizing Gashat.
Which is actually pretty cool, video game theme and all. Kinda expensive though, and I don't really need the binder, so I don't know if I really want it. Placed a preorder through HLJ just in case though. Hopefully it's at least a DX Gashat. Anyway, I had been wondering how the Let's Go Ichigou Gashat was going to be released. Then I actually bothered reading the text just now (why didn't I do that earlier???) and...it's a god damn Toei Hero World exclusive, like Kamehameha was last year. Wonderful. Guess I'm not getting that. Meh. |
http://gameridernews.tumblr.com/post...a-lot-since-we
Well, that's immensely disappointing. I was hoping that by pre-ordering the Bugvisor that you could get Proto-Mighty Action x, but it seems to come with everything but the Bugvisor for the Campaign. The Gashacon Sparrow looks pretty nifty though. |
I think that just doesn't list the Bugvisor because it comes out after the campaign starts. Which is is still a disappointment, but yeah. But oh well. I was operating under the assumption that this would be the case anyway. My plans haven't changed. I'm not gonna buy the Spearow just for PMAX, so I'm just gonna have to hope the Gamer Driver will be in stock, or that stock of PMAX hasn't run out by the time the Bugvisor comes out. I'll still be buying the latter regardless.

We've got official images for the November stuff up.
RHS06 Ex-Aid Robot Action Gamer Level 3 DX DoReMiFa Beat LVUR05 Robot Gamer DX Giri Giri Chambara LVUR07 Lazer Bike Gamer Level 2 DX Gashacon Spearow DX Jet Combat LVUR06 Beat Gamer DX Gashacon Bugvisor Some cool stuff. I love the graphics for these Gashats. They're great. Beat is probably my favorite but I really like what they did with Chambara. I was hoping it'd be something like this. Also we see how Lazer fits in the Level 1 body: not amazingly, but he does. The Level 3 armor could...look better? I think they look mostly fine overall, but the bits of plastic connecting the headgear to the chest kinda don't look too good. It's cool how they're including Drivers with the extra Gashat though. And kinda funny that LVUR07 is coming out before LVUR06. edit: all this stuff is up for preorder on HLJ now, plus LVUR08 and LVUR09. Weird though. I thought the Gashat Case was also supposed to go up today. Guess I misread the catalog. |
I just preordered the case on Hobby Search so if anything it was meant to go up today, I'm guessing that HLJ are just being slow on that front.
I'm a bit disappointed that the proto MAX gashat may not come with the bugvisor, it would be a pretty big dick move of them to do that considering they go hand in hand on the show. |
I'm oddly not seeing them :/. May be because I'm at school and wifi is crappy here XD
|
Huh. HLJ had had the Gamer Driver and the Driver & Slot Holder set labeled "Oct. Restock" this entire time. Well, the month is over, so now the set is set for November and the Driver for December. There go my chances of using it for PMAX I guess. Yippee.
Since the Slot Holder by itself was also supposed to have a restock in October, I'm guessing I'm not gonna be seeing that payment request anytime soon... |
I feel like an idiot for not seeing this before, but Genm's head in his Level 3 form looks like he's wearing a bike helmet.
|
So the Prot DoReMiFa Beat Gashat is a campaign exclusive.
Gosh dang it, Bandai, why are you so dedicated to making my goal of collecting all the Gashats so unrealistic? PMAX is a campaign, PDRMFB is a movie campaign, LG1 is THW, Kaigan Ghost is in a hellishly expensive special edition of an entirely unrelated 3DS game. And we're barely in the first quarter. Dang it all. Also with this Prot Gashat as some sort of exclusive it sure isn't looking like my initial hope of the Prot Gashats being released as Gashapons will be a reality. I swear if they release the remaining 7 Prot Gashats as different obnoxious promotions throughout the rest of Ex-Aid's run I will be so very, very...slightly miffed about it, probably. I mean, honestly, if they do that I'll probably just stop caring. We don't even know if the sounds are different, so... ...Still want them though. |
Preordered the new Gashats for November from HLJ. Lots of new stuff of Ex-Aid on HLJ, so don't forget to preorder :P
