Mine have to be the MMPR Dragonzord and Tigerzord. I remember how I got them too. I kept asking for the Dragonzord for my birthday, and would sneak the box out to play with it. So by the time my birthday actually rolled around, it was all stickered up already FTW.

For the Tigerzord, in my area the damn thing was hard to find especially for xmas! Luckily we went shopping on Black Friday and one mom at the store was getting 2 for her sons but decided just to buy 1. I ended up able to buy the other.

The sad thing is, over the years I have lost parts from both. Mostly complete but small parts were lost. They are very durable toys and look great on the shelf. I just hate how they used paper stickers.

I know it's not particularly rare but I found it for about half the price it normally goes for. I can't say that I'm blown away by it but I do appreciate it and it's design.

How big is the Spider-Zord? It's pretty awesome

After watching and finishing up Magiranger, I'm left extremely impressed with MagiKing's design. I'd love to get it in the future, and I won't mind if it is the Mystic Force edition (although I'd rather get the Magiranger toy).

About 7 inches. It's not a huge figure but it's well made, heavy, and fun. Plus it comes with a hot wheels style version of his Spider-Car, and a pretty cool Soul of Sofubi 6" Spider-man figure as well.

I guess my Y-msf Gabara would have to be my Holy Grail. He was the yellow exclusive version until I sent him off to be professionally painted.

For me my Shadowmoon is my Grail in the collection, snagged one of the last under $50 at the time lol...but I would kill for a Magiranger and the Wolzar's mecha...

I've decided it's S.H. Figuarts Acrobatter now. I just saw one on Mandarake for 10,000 yen and that is the absolute cheapest i am going to get it i would assume. I just cannot pull the trigger

I've been dying to get a W Driver since I saw the show. Japanese ones now cost a fortune, Korean ones have incorrect sounds and the Hong Kong one that'll be released soon will have quiet sounds, so I'm really hoping I can grab one of those Super Best ones at some point.

I also really want the Joker Figuarts, which isn't that expensive, it's just finding money to pay for him inbetween all the current releases..

I see Joker on Mandarake for about 4000-4500 yen all the time. However I also know the pain of seeing something I want, at an affordable price, when I have no money.

What hurts more is when you're at a store and actually see what you wanna get, but you're low on funds

Holy thread necro. I thought this was a recent topic of discussion and found an old post from myself. Most confusing is that I have obtained (and sold off one of) my Toku holy grails. These days it would be Bio Robo (or Godaikin Bioman), but I've been unwilling to spend the money to get a good one.

Funny thing is my TF grail is still G1 Overlord, though with the BotCon hint of what's to come in 2017, that might go away.

It's been a while. But I think I'm changing mine to a Kamen Rider 1 Figuart.

Honestly its hard for me to pick a singular thing that I love so much. Probably a few years ago I might have said figuarts Akaranger, because I never thought we'd actually get one.

Well, the plus side is that the two pack with the bike is still common, and the figure itself is almost guaranteed to be reissued every now and again. So you never have to worry about missing out. (Assuming you don't have it anyway)

I don't own one. Money is the only supreme issue.

Some of these "grails" don't seem too hard to come by or out of financial reach for most collectors. If you're confident you could land your "holy grail" in a year's time or less with minimal effort or struggle, that's not much of a grail IMO. There are collectors who spend years, maybe decades trying to track down elusive toys, and should they turn up at the wrong time (e.g. when you lack the necessary funds, or you're on vacation away from your computer), you might be out of luck in this lifetime.

My tokusatsu toy grail would have to be the Jumbo Machinder Lensari from Kamen Rider V3. Made by Popy in the '70s in extremely limited quantities, these are near impossible to come by. In the past 6 years I've habitually scanned related auctions and only seen one for sale, though another may have turned up under my radar at some point. Alas, I couldn't afford a toy like that then (not that I could on my current salary)... a boxed specimen in fair shape, complete with missiles, I believe the auction ended at ¥1,312,000 (approx. $12,242.00 USD at the current exchange rate).

No disrespect. I completely understand everyone can only allocate so much to the hobby, but that's besides the point. I've seen a fair amount of "grails" come up in this thread that can be had for $50.00 or less. If a grail can be had for the retail price of an S.H. Figuarts toy, and is regularly available through virtually every resale outlet (Amazon, eBay, Mandarake), I must be misunderstanding the concept.

There's a difference between something being obtainable in the foreseeable future vs. near impossible to obtain, or possibly unobtainable in one's lifetime. What's the point of using the term "holy grail" to define something that's not so far from reach? If one has obtained 5-6 "grails" over the course of a couple of years, I think they're being a tad liberal with the term. Again, it's not simply about the money–some toys are just hard to find. Regardless of how deep your pockets are, it can be extremely hard to track some toys down without serious dedication, the knowhow, or the right connections.

Taking into consideration the historical reference point, don't you think it's a bit silly to equate the "holiest of quests" to scoring a DX OOO Driver (one can be had brand new off eBay for $62.99 right now with plenty more to go around)? There's nothing holy about waiting for your next paycheck or settling for ramen one week.

The issue of someone's personal holy grail is completely subjective. Their definition may not jibe with yours, but that is their right. Historical context or not, the meaning has been greatly diluted over the years. The above snobbery is the kind of thing I usually see confined to places that discuss Hot Toys or comic statues.
