Has anyone else wondered why Hasbro doesn't make the FiM figures look more like the screen models? Is it simply to continue the aesthetic set by the previous lines or just because they're lazy?
Hasbro proved with the Transformers: Animated line that they can produce figures accurate to a highly stylized design so that shouldn't be an excuse. |

Secondly, the larger toys are still just dolls. The hair brushing thing may be considered them continuing the norm, but that's just how things go. Also, you must remember a few things. First is that Hasbro treats Transformers as one of it's top brands, and they're willing to sink a lot more money into it. MLP:FiM was a surprise hit, with the brand not lying dormant per se, but was never given precedence and only given a few direct to video movies making up the G3.5 era (If I recall correctly). With FiM, I really don't think Hasbro wanted to pour money into making screen accurate and detailed toys. |

While I don't doubt that MLP will become one of Hasbro's top brands alongside TFs and Nerf, I don't see it shadowing them anytime soon. It has one popular show, yes, but the older fanbase is more interested in the fan made items, not the officially produced stuff (And, unlike 3P TFs, the MLP fan stuff don't cost more than a MISB G1 Overlord :lol) |

You did make a point about bronies not buying a lot of product. It's not something I see changing too soon either, casual bronies just don't feel that excited about the merchandise. |
Just because you don't like a series doesn't mean it's doing poorly. That's something everyone must remember.

*points at $500 Luna plushie* No. And those vinyl figures from Hot Topic are ok. I think it's because while there are a lot of bronies, much like transformers, we don't make up a large enough percentage for them to make stuff like that a mass release. |
Quote:
*Looks at normal priced ($100-$200) plushes* Yes :p And Hot Topic is catering to the Brony community. It's fairly obvious considering the venue (You know, Hot Topic), the characters (Most popular mane 6 and most popular background pony), and, you know. Hot Topic. And while adults don't make up a large percentage of either market, I'm fairly positive the adult market for Transformers greatly dwarfs the bronies. |

Also Rager is $20, your arguement is invalid And I'm not sure...I think they're equal in size... |

And I wouldn't, considering there's an entire line in Transformers that's entirely devoted to adult collectors (Masterpiece), three if you include the discontinued Alternators and Titanium lines. If Hasbro and Takara are willing to sink that much money for toys entirely intended to be sold to adults, then I don't think the brony fandom is really putting as much money into the franchise as TF fans. |

And because...Because. If the Riders were ponies, what kind of pony would they be? Like, I'd imagine someone like Wizard/Haruto to be a Unicorn and Kuuga/Onodera to be an Earth Pony, for example. |
Quote:
Same here...I think Decade would be an Alicorn :p no, but in all seriousness I think that they should all be Earth Ponies save for Haruto...maybe Skyrider could be a pegasus. |

And :lol Luna |
Shotaro is definitely an Earth Pony.
And :lol I love the end of that! Oh, and Ryotaro: Earth Pony, but Kin and Momo: Earth Ponies, Ura and Ryuu: Unicorns, and Sieg: Pegasus |

Kabuto and Kuuga would totally be Alicorns.
|
Shinji would be Earth Pony. Maybe a Pegasus.

Honestly, while I do see shelfwarmers, lots of new figures fly off like crazy (When my local stores got their FoC toys stocked (A good 12 or so new figures on the shelves), they were gone, sans a Prime and Jazz, in a day). Anyway, I'm not going to use this moment to express my disappointment in the lack of ponies and horses throughout 4 Beast Series in TFs. We got, like, Mach Kick and Battle Unicorn, and that's it... |
