Already pumped for episode 2 of Geed. Who's with me?

Looking forward to seeing the new forms and new characters, especially Raiha Toba. I think her action scenes are gonna be killer but hoping there will be more to her character than just that. |

Ultraman Geed Royal Mega Master and Ultraman Belial Atrocious. I especially love Belial's form name. |
Wow! We only got into the first episode and we got a sneak peek for the next quarter of Geed. I'm honestly sure that Geed Royal Mega Master or the form with golden beard will be a fusion with Ultraman King and probably Shining Zero. I'm particularly sure with the former just because it has some elements from King.
To be honest, I don't really dig on the design, especially if it becomes a final form like Orb Origin. I like the staff but I want a more sleeker design. The most atrocious part would be the beard. It doesn't fit with Geed's design as a younger Ultra and even the son of Belial. On the other hand, I'm digging more on the form at right of the picture. It really fits with the idea of Geed is Belial's son, which is the main plot to the story. For Belial, I'm digging with his new form but I'm pretty sure it will be another monster form like Arch Belial which is a shame because Belial rarely got a new humanoid form. The closest he got was probably Zero Darkness, which is pry a Zero's form per se. Another monster is also shown just above him but I don't know what it is. But, I think that monster will play a crucial role and his design in pretty good too. I'm hyped with what Geed will give to us in the future but I hope it won't ruin our expectation. |

Anyone else notice that Aigo, the second word Riku says as he's transforming, sounds a lot like Aibō, the japanese word for partner? While he isn't exactly 'partnering up' with the Ultraman he's fusing with in the traditional sense, it isn't an entirely wrong word to use given that he has to borrow their power to transform.

I finally got around to watching the first episode. Not a lot I could say that hasn't already been said, it was a fantastic start to the series.
Geed might be my new favourite looking Ultraman. Those shots of him after he transforms and everything suddenly goes dead quiet were super cool. Quote:

Episode 2 is up. I'll post my feelings on it when I watch it later on tonight. |
I must admit that I really like and enjoy this episode. In this episode, many plots are established, such as Little Star and the true nature of Belial Fusion Kaiju. Though, still need subs to fully understand most of the dialogues. Oh, and the GiriGiriChambara girl still kicks ass even in another series. It's surprising to see that SkullGomora was formed because Kei transformed(?) to Belial and combined with the component monsters.
I'm already fishy because SkullGomora has a color timer-like thing in his chest, making me felt that SkullGomora actually has a host or a controller. Also, SkullGomora is a pretty strong villain for earlier episodes like this. You can see that both X and Orb can hold up with their respective first monsters. However, Geed was having so much trouble handling SkullGomora because it's basically a monster with human's brain, like Zeppandon. It's pretty justified how Riku could only win by using an opening. Well, can't wait for the next episode, especially with Solid Burning. That form will seriously kick someone ass and I hope that by this way, Riku will find a way to hold up against his enemies. As Primitive, Riku constantly relies on luck and his own willpower to win so I want to see he actually wins with a style. Oh, Zero will also appear too next week. |
I dunno. If he's saying Aibo, then what does Yugo mean? I heard a theory going around that Riku may actually be Belial since he says "I Go" when he uses the Belial capsule. That would be interesting. But then again, Kei transforms into Belial so I'm not sure how that would work.
As for Riku having trouble with the monster, I just attributed that to him being very new to this. With X, Daichi had X to help him out. Riku is on his own so it's going to take more time for him to figure things out. I liked this episode more than the first. The pacing felt more natural and I liked the introduction of the concept that the Little Stars give their hosts abilities that go with the Ultra it is attributed to. And I thought Raiha was pretty cool. I was worried that she would just be a silent assassin type character but she has some charm to her to, which is great. I'm really interested to see how the team dynamic turns out once everyone is brought in. Next week is gonna be great with the intro of Zero and Solid Burning (the best form. XD) |
Episode 2 and Episode 1(Sub) done!
Starting with episode 2, I really enjoyed it. The pacing was much better then the first one and I like that they forshadowed this week's plot subtly last week. I also liked the sword girl, who's name I can't recall at the moment, and I'm interested in knowing how she ties into things when I get the subs next week. I can't wait to see Zero next episode, as well as the new form debut. Now to Episode one. My thoughts are more or less the same as when I watched it last week. Now that I know what they're saying though, I can't help but wonder whether it makes the already fast episode a bit more evenly paced or even faster then I thought it was. On a side note, I heard that an episode of the show Riku likes will be included with Ultraman Geed's first Blu-ray. Is this true? |

I don't think it's a whole episode of Donshine, not even a short one like the Kamen Rider blu-ray bonus episodes, if I understand the Google translate gibberish correctly then we just get the scene Riku is watching, but as an own separate thing, so we can watch what he watched.
So you probably get this one minute clip or however long it was as a bonus. |
That sounds really cool, even if its just a one minute preview rather then a full episode.

As a non-subscribing Crunchyroll user I finally got to watch the first episode this morning and I am definitely impressed. I felt that some of the "you're an Ultraman, Riku," stuff felt a little rushed, but the rest of the show did a good job of establishing the main hero while teasing the characters that will be getting more prominent as the series goes on. The action scenes were great, like one expects from a Sakamoto project. There were some great shots during the battle with the kaiju and having the whole thing happen at night really made it look more dynamic. There's also some fantastic miniature work here, which is one of my favorite parts of any Ultra series.
I like that, while still using the Ultra fusion concept, this show really feels very different from Orb. Definitely looking forward to seeing where this series goes. |
Loved the second episode even more. Raiha's pretty cool, and Riku continues to be surprisingly interesting. I love the whole idea of the son of the most evil guy ever being such an inherently heroic person, and seeing him suck at fights is actually kinda refreshing. It makes sense given he's neither experienced like Gai, nor does he have help like Daichi.

Episode 2 was fun, I like Raiha a lot already.
The little star subplot is nice, so that's how Riku gets his power-ups, huh? What I don't like about this is that it's a bit too similar to Orb in that Juggler was also basically unleashing monsters so that Orb could defeat them for him. It's kinda similar as the bad guy tries to pressure the little stars into revealing themselves. In both cases, we will obviously have a time where the Ultraman just fights monsters and the real battle with the antagonist unfolds once all capsules are found. That's only a minor criticism though, at least they give you a reason for why the antagonist holds back and it's not like in Rider or Sentai where the real bad guys don't really do anything until the first wave of toy advertisements is done. The only other thing I wish they changed was the monster, Skull Gomora returning was a bit lame, I thought Alien Dada could've played a bigger role instead, I mean they said in the preview that Dada is "a monster with three faces" yet it doesn't change faces even once. Those are the only things that I didn't like though, the rest was great. I especially adored seeing the base come to life a bit with Riku moving his Donshine collection in, Raiha building up her research station and Pega hanging up the sign. "Nebula House" is a great name for a base by the way :lol Quote:

I loved Episode 2, the cast is wonderful and I just love Riku. I can't wait for more.

Full version of Geed no Akashi. Shorter then I expected but good none the less. Anyone have any idea where I can legally buy Ultraman music? Specifically the stuff from Ginga-onward. |

I found a relatively cheap collection of the theme songs up to (and including) Orb, maybe that's what you seek: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/COCX-39629 Also, regarding this topic, I find it infuriating that I can't just buy this stuff online. If I could buy Geed's theme song for the 200 Yen iTunes ask just by using my PayPal account I would do it. Not being able to sucks so much. |

This is a pretty fun and enjoyable episode, mainly it was because of Zero and his host's relationship. Seriously, whoever thought about this, they might think that Ryotaro and Momotaros' dynamic can't get even more sillier. Everyone might think that Reito becomes Zero's host because he will sacrifice his own life to save other people's life. But, nope, not quite right. He became Zero's host because he slipped on a banana's peel and got hit by a truck. That's it. Though, he did want to save the VotW that resulted in said accident.
The only thing that a little disappointed me was the way they handle the VotW or the Little Star's hosts. It felt a little bit rushed in some ways and the fact they only served as Geed's power ups doesn't really help either. Still, Solid Burning's debut is so solid and badass. Just look at the form; it's so smexy with so many chimney holes in his body. I really want to pick a SH Figuarts of his when the time comes. Not to mention, this is the first time Riku actually fought properly and not getting his ass kicked. One minor question, how long till we get Geed Claw weapon? Seriously, Primitive needs a weapon if it needs to hold up against his opponents. |
Aaaaaaagggggghhhh episode 3 was so amazing. It had just about everything I could've wanted out of it and packed so much in without feeling cramped or oddly paced. This one might go a little long. Also I'm going to put spoiler tags on every little detail even though I don't think I'm giving away any real twists or anything. It might be overkill but I figure since some people definitely won't be watching these episodes until a week later, I might as well:
- I've actually always been kind of apathetic towards Zero as a character. He's always seemed kind of like the most stock fan-character ever made official, but I also can't really hate him because one, I'm me, and two, I'm totally full of it since I've never actually seen any of the movies he was the star of and I gather they're quite good. It's important to understand how little interest I have in the character when I say that for some reason the second he shows up in this show I'm suddenly super absorbed by whatever it is he's up to. - It helps that they're pairing him up with an uncool everyman. I had a feeling Reito would be one of my favorite parts of the show and I'm happy to not be let down. I might have to start calling him Ryoutarou, however. :p - Riku continues to be shockingly endearing, but I suppose having "into tokusatsu" as a character trait is a good way to do that. Like I honestly think it's kind of genius writing. It's simultaneously an easy way to establish his hero credentials, an excuse to make it totally believable he'd just start making up catchphrases left and right, and gets us relatable beats like getting excited about buying merch only to be disappointed when the stupid gashapon machine won't give you the thing you're after. Brilliant. - Getting back to Zero, I really like how they handled all the crucial exposition this week. I can't personally vouch for this, already being a fan and all, but I think they did a great job of making this show approachable if you don't know jack about Ultraman. Obviously it helps that our protagonists are ignorant themselves but backing up telling about Ultraman King fusing with the universe to heal it (which is totally hardcore btw) by showing Zero doing the same thing earlier with Reito is a very nice touch. - One thing I wasn't expecting and thus was pleasantly surprised by was that they let Zero sit out the fight at the end. I was seriously worried having another Ultraman around (even if he is a nice foil to our hero) would really undermine Geed feeling like the star of his own show, but it seems that won't be the case. - Solid Burning gets waaaaaay cooler the second you start seeing it fight bad guys. So yeah, if it isn't clear from how much I wrote, I loved this episode. It speaks volumes about how awesome this show is that with both a really good Kamen Rider series and a Sentai I like a lot airing, Geed has quickly become the show I'm most looking forward to each week. Can't wait for more. |
Welp, this was the first episode where it killed me that I had no idea what they were saying. I mean, this was such a fun episode and it gave some exposition that I was practically crying because I didn't know what they were saying. I really enjoyed this episode anyway but still... Also, I can't wait for Zero and Geed to meet properly. Zero's eyes must be rolling around in his head right now.
Side Note: Is this what its watching Kamen Rider and Super Sentai live? Watching a commercial, advertising a commercial, advertising a commercial? |
thoughts on episode 3
Zero is the Den-O of the Ultramen and I love the mismatch of a badass galactic hero inside a wimpy salaryman who has a heart of gold and seems like a good husband and father Solid Burning is JACKED and I love the mechanical feel it has going on, and the combination of it being Zero's dad and his mentor is just awesome I love when Geed punches a Darklops and his hand is in pain for punching a metallic robot, subtle but just well-executed |
Man, episode 3 was amazing. Zero fits so well into this series, I already like the dynamic between him and his host a lot.
And action-wise... damn. Solid Burning is one of the most badass Ultraman-forms ever. So many cool moving CG-parts, and the way they use steam and fire alongside it is just fantastic. I knew I would love this form after seeing it in the preview but this even surpassed my expectations. I know the fancy effects will be gone after episode 4, but still: Solid Burning is awesome! |
Finally had the chance to sit down, rewatch episode 1, and then watched 2 and 3. They were fantastic. The acting of the children has been pretty subpar, but that aside, I am enjoying this show a lot. I was shocked to see Dada appear, but it was pleasent for the short amount of screen time he had. The third episode though was easily the best of the three. The bit with Zero taking over the dude's body and beating the crap out of those wannabe gangsters was great. Loved their reaction when they ran into him again. Besides that, it still amazes me with how outstandingly detailed the miniatures are and the camera work is exceptional. Aside from some CGI'd moments, the fights are well choreographed. Looking forward to the next episode.

Episode 3 was just freaking brilliant. I love seeing more of Zero and he's awesome. I also like seeing him have the whole fused with a human experience. That was intriguing to see what happened with UltraMan King. Also, Geed new form is one of my favorite forms ever, it's just so freaking cool! I love Riku he's such a fun character. I can't wait for more.

I've only seen the first two episodes, as I'm watching them as they become free, but I'm not feeling this show much. I want to, so badly as I like the premise of Geed as the son of Belial, but I found the first two episodes boring.
Hoping that with the debut of the coolest suit in the show about to show up (Solid Burning looks great), something might grab me. It's not so far. |
Realized Crunchyroll itself is free so I quickly made an account to watch Geed. Liking it so far, and I think Geed's got some killer designs. Plus, Skull Gamora looked fucking siiick

Ultraman Zero's upgrade.
http://imgur.com/q7jBG00 I like it. I'm not sure if its white and blue or silver and blue but I really like it. |
I think it's funny that Zero gets a cooler looking upgrade than Geed does.
