lol well what i want is to get the main rider from all the showa series, possibly shadowmoon as well, and pick and choose my favorites from the hesei stuff, limiting that to just main riders main forms.
from there i will decide if i want bikes for everybody, ive got the CORM Kabuto Extender and the KRF Cyclone, and i definitely want the hardboilder (i am NOT buying that travesty of an upgrade form CJX just for the handlebar holding hands BLECH). is agitos bike relatively easy to acquire in either iteration? i dont want to get trinity form, ill just fudge it with Blacks hands. also on the topic of bikes, how does the Soul of Popynica Cyclone look with figuarts Ichigo? |

Man, Fourze looks good. Can't wait.
|
Can't wait to get him. Kinda wish I'd ordered the stand set along with him, but I'm sure I'll be able to pick that up from somewhere if I really want it.

Any DCUC or Marvel Legends collectors here? There's something I've been curious about, which is simply, how do Figuarts compare to said lines?
I've seen collectors of non-human figures turn to Figuarts and proclaim them as the epitome of humanoid toys. But I don't really see DCUC/Marvel collectors comment much, or perhaps they've just not been talking 'cause it's two totally different styles we're talking of. Far as I know, DCUC have pretty good looking sculpts, but they have quite frankly, hips that are just plain... silly, whereby the spreading of said hips will result in a broken hips aesthetic. Or has that finally been addressed? Of course, DCUC also lack rocking ankles, but tend to have better ab crunches than Figuarts? ML, well, older ML sacrificed cleanliness for PoA. How do the modern ones stack up? Also I reckon most superheroes have one major thing working against them, their immensely muscular biceps kinda limit the effectiveness of having double jointed elbows. Still, do Figuarts blow them out of the water or are these guys still good enough to still feel relevant? |
I've actually always been a fan of the DCUC hips, because they do give a great range of mobility, but they do look goofy when open. The ab crunches don't go forward much, but back usually has good range, I'd say it's pretty comparable to the Rising Might Kuuga I'm playing with right now, and Kuuga's joint is completely hidden under the armor so it's better.
DCUC's ankle joints are really crippled compared to most SHFs, like Kuuga. Emperor Kiva's inferior ankles are about on par with DCUC, maybe a little better. And no DCUC that I know of has toe joints. And as you pointed out, most DCUCs don't have double jointed knees or elbows, and I've actually not played much with the ones that do. I have a bunch of Marvel figures, mostly the newer Hasbro stuff, and I really haven't played much around with the articulation, I tend to display my Marvel and DC figures in pretty static poses, whereas these Figuarts have such better mobility, they'll see much more interesting poses on the shelf. On an only semi-related note, I have a hell of a lot of DCUCs. I've always been pretty proud of the fact that I'm a mostly completist of the line, but I didn't really realize what that meant until Saturday as I was arranging some of my not-displayed figures, I have a large box full of three or four waves worth (or more) of loose DCUCs that I need to find a place to display, and it's about 30 figures or so. In addition to the four large bookshelve shelves completely stuffed with figures. And by comparison I have about 15-ish SHFs all together. I guess i should finish this off by saying I was already kinda loosing interest in DCUC and Marvel, in part due to Transformers, last year, but after getting into SHFs I think Mattel will be lucky if I buy a single DCUC figure this year (excluding the Crime Syndicate set I bought last week). SHFs are so much more fun to play with, better poseability, much better accessory count, and for some strange reason, the increased price is easier to justify on SHF than DCUC (which apparently just went up to $17 a piece locally, hell no). |
For those interested (such as myself) BBTS has Super Shinken Red up for preorder now and Super TaToBa up for backorder.

Where I am, DCUC on retail cost almost as much as a Figuart. Older or loose stuff on the secondary market's more affordable though. I'm pondering tracking down a Superman, just because. |
Which Superman? I think I still have one of them David Hasselhoff looking one :lol

ive been a little upset at the lack of kaijin figures for my figuarts to face off with and im thinking about just making my own with my sculpting skills. since were on the subject of DCUC, any good recommendations on a cheap poseable base body to work off of?
ideally id like a blank figuarts, but thats just not realistic. i need something skinny ( mostly at the hips, i can shave down muscles and features), poseable and easy to find at retail... |
I wonder if those revoltech figures would work, not that I know if they are cheap to obtain or not...
|
i have a couple of the old evangelion ones, but theyre just too short. maybe i should settle in on a design i want to replicate and move from there. Horse Orphenoch would be a good place to start possibly. what about Marvel Legends? are they about the same scale as figuarts?
|
Wishing bad the Kauro Shinken-Red was available online somewhere, or I'm just not looking hard enough. I am in love with that figure ever since I saw it reveied on the youtubes. Something about a female red. About time!

Loose LotR horses could be used for the lower half of Horse Orphenoch? |
Been eyeing that auction myself.... Too bad I just blew all my money on Mandarake with Gokai Blue and Red with the Darins :lol

The best way to go at it in my opinion, would be to choose who you wanna make before trying to find a base figure. That way you can save yourself some sculpting or modding work sometimes. Knowing in advance that your character must have wings for example, you can look for a ML figure that already has some. Good luck and make sure to show us the results! |

cyclone joker came today. hes not quite as poseable as Kabuto or Agito, but i can forgive it for that, he is from one of my all time favorite toku. $30 shipped was a badass price as well! |

If you think you want Rider #2, then this image,
http://i.imgur.com/e417g.jpg Or perhaps this image: http://i.imgur.com/6VTeQ.jpg Should be all the convincing you need. Paint is a bit thick on the scarf on mine though, does't look as nice as #1's. |

found a figure to start modifying. someone mentioned the green lantern figures, they are just the right size! good thing they are god awful ugly or i would feel bad chopping it up. ive decided on doing a kaijin from the first kamen rider series, the Spider-Man. he looks awesome and i think i can do him justice. wish me luck! |
Can any one tell if Zolda comes with his monster or not, the preview pic some him with it but placing like amiami dont so im pretty sure he dosnt but i hope im wrong.

IIRC Zolda's monster is coming as it's own figure.
|
I wish they'd do something sorta like R&M style. Maybe have Magnugiga and Venosnaker in a 2-pack. Though I'm sure they would release Genocider separately.
