Way back in season two of Power Rangers the Red Dragonzord came alone and the other four main zords came in a seperate set. So it's been done.
Uh, but RPM was adapted from Go Onger which was one of the goofiest Sentai. So just because a show is more light or dark in one version is no obsticale to changing the tone if you want to.

Go-Onger was a goofy car Sentai and yet gave it the opposite of that tone. Carrangers was also a lighthearted sentai they tried to make it more series than it needed to.

Maybe because the love triangle between a dull character and two unlikeable ones has to do something about it. Including when one of the good guys sexually harasses another good guy and it's seen as ok. Oh, and the villains were dumb. Maybe the rest of Jetman kiiiiiinda gets better but for me, an unlikeable cast and shitty looking mech for literally half of the show isn't worth it

That will happen after Hasbro buys the brand entirely

What are you talking about? First of all, Gai isn't exactly a saint when we first meet him, so his behavior isn't exactly abnormal for him. And when was it ever shown as ok?

They're not as developed as I would've liked, but dumb? How? The whole idea is that, as I mentioned, they're a contrast to the heroes in that they're a team who keeps backstabbing each other, whereas the heroes have to learn to come together.

Gai loves Kaori and Kaori loves Ryu, which does make a love triangle.

Don't mean to argue with a mod, but like... the entire plot synopsis is almost a direct follow up to the cliffhanger ending of RPM. Evil computer virus wants to take over the Morphing Grid, and Venjix was seen entering one of the RPM morphers at the very end of the series. It lines up almost entirely.

I hope they use Bandai Japan toys again

From my experience Hasbro tries to keep the toys consistent with the Japanese release as closely as possible so there's something to look forward too.

Gai has a seedy background. He grows throughout the show, as do all of the characters. From the moment you first saw him, I don't know why you'd be shocked that someone like him would be a scoundrel.

I’m really excited for this, the synopsis seems like we’re finally moving away from the teenagers with (no) attitude and doing something way more interesting. I really want to see the toys, if they’re just using the Japanese molds i’m Down for it, but I don’t think they’d be able to since a different company made them.

Kaori's crush on Ryu was an ongoing thing throughout the entire series. It was part of the reason why Gai gave Ryu so much attitude.

My experience with the sci-fi/fantasy fandom doesn't lend me to believe the consistency of people's moral compasses. And as I said, the show doesn't say his actions are good, so I don't know where that notion is coming from.

And I mean, I don't entirely consider forgetting about three of your main cast and then just having the villain give up the best story possible. In fact, I'd consider that a pretty bad story.

Batman: TAS, Voltron: Legendary Defender and Samurai Jack are pretty solid shows for kids. I normally don't even care for American kids cartoons, but I do feel like Gravity Falls, the new Duck Tales show, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Steven Universe do put a lot of effort into them.

Japan is far from being the best when it comes to making kids shows (Toku shows like Kamen Rider Ghost or Shonen anime like Black Clover are nothing to write home about).

The reason why Megatron gave up is because he saw the error of his faction's ways due to having been oppressed by Unicron the Chaos Bringer until Optimus exorcized Unicron out of him. As Optimus once said in the show proper, " Everyone possesses the potential for change."

Yeah, it's not done well at all and leads to one of the worst ends to a Megatron in the entire series. Imagine if they had bothered to actually build that up over the series, and not just have Megs act like an idiot the entire time.

Like how there are far too many named Decepticons in RID2015 for any of them to get even a lick of worthwhile character development? And they seriously need to retire the phrase "Robots in Disguise" and think of something new. They hinted at the plot point of Megatron being oppressed by Unicron in the movie in the 4 parts of Season 1's finale.

I actually do prefer the less developed Decepticons in RiD because they had better designs than any of the Cons in Prime, barring Soundwave, and even if they weren't incredible, they were all at least fun.

I sure as hell will remember Springload longer than guys like Skyquake and Makeshift.

EDIT: You're also saying that like any of the Decepticons actually got any character development. They were generic baddies for the most part, and the two that weren't got killed off before their arcs actually went anywhere.
