Honestly, ever since Byleth, my hopes for Smash's DLC has basically hit the shitter. Sephiroth was the one glimmer among the remaining sea of indifference.
And really, I only cared for Sephiroth because it meant Sora wasn't happening :lol

Smash is unpredictable with characters. Not even the leakers can get things right now these days.

I'll be happy with anyone they put in really.

Though also, honestly, for a while now I've been happy with the roster and would rather they add in other stuff; like more game modes or boss battles or something. It's a really, really good roster! You got Joker and Banjo and Cloud and Snake's back! I'm pretty happy with it!

I haven't played Smash yet, but I'm cool with the roster. Would I like some characters to appear, yes. But would I be disappointed if they don't, not really.

Speaking of Fighting Games, I have an urge to play more Godzilla: Save the Earth.

I got a character from ARMS, I'm happy. Whatever they put in now is cool with me. Minecraft Steve is still a huge surprise to me...

A bit out of nowhere, the next BFTG patch dropped for Xbox users exclusively -- though while Ryu and Chun-Li are now on the selection screen, they can't yet be bought until their actual release on the 25th. Still, this lets us see the non-paid updates; and some of them are pretty neat!

The rest are bug fixes and character patches (from what I've seen, Lauren got a lot of nerfs and Goldar got his infinite removed)

Pretty neat to see them dig into difficulty and sound options a lot more! I was wanting to see the former for a while since I like doing single player to relax, and the BGM options are also super nice. More stage aesthetics is also always a good thing! Hoping we'll see other sound settings later like turning voices off, but these are still some decent updates altogether

The heavily increased difficulty of BFTG's CPUs has seriously forced me to improve at some of my characters. Like I'm not kidding, these things are deadly now and it really makes you learn on the spot! Not bad for me because it's ended up with me having more fun with the game :lol


A bit unfortunate though is that my having more fun with it comes with, uh... well, a bit of an annoyance that causes me to not buy the new SF stuff even though I do want it?

See, the new SF pass includes one alternate skin each for Ryu and Chun-Li (their 'class of 93' skins), but the super edition upgrades specifically include one more -- Helmetless Ryu. This would be fine, but... the cheapest upgrade pack is the one for those who bought the collectors' edition, and thus includes everything not in that including Season 3, causing it to be much more expensive -- £17 compared to the SF pass's £11. I already bought the Season 3 pass not long after it came out, so... as someone who's been buying all DLC as it comes out, I can't say I'm feeling especially happy or rewarded right now! It is only one skin, sure, and a minor one at that; and £6 isn't exactly a lot of money, but... I'm holding out in case they fix this somehow. Bit disappointed in this decision as it actively disincentives customers who have been loyally buying their stuff as it comes out.

Been playing around with the new DLC as well. I find it funny that Ryu and Chun-Li are almost exact copypastes from their UMvC3 selves, to the point that they even have different control schemes from literally every other character in the roster. Not sure if I'll add either one of them to my main team, but they certainly are fun, and make me very happy considering UMvC3 is my favorite fighting game.

Whoever gets announced for Smash Bros tomorrow, you will still have people that will not happy with the choice. I feel like Megaman, Sonic, and the Belmonts are the third-party characters that most people were happy with.

Well, when it comes to 3rd party characters, a lot of people were wanting characters that had strong ties to Nintendo's early days. Games like Mega Man, Castlevania, and Final Fantasy were all titles that helped cement Nintendo's status as a juggernaut (Especially helped by their exclusivity deal, at the time).

The flipside is characters that hold strong legacies, rather than flash in the pan popular characters that may wane in a little bit.
Like how everyone was absolutely dreading a Rabbid would get in early on :lol

I do think Smash's 3rd party characters have done a good job of representing franchises with long histories and legacies to them. The most recent is Minecraft, which... well, it's been around for a decade and is still extremely popular; don't think you can doubt that one at that point!

That said... I'm honestly expecting Cinderace or something at this point lol

If there's any sword and shield Pokemon I want in, I unironically want Toxtricity in.

So I appreciate this for several reasons

1. He helps push the Villain Representation up so I enjoy that
2. Namco finally gets a second rep after Pac-Man
3. Tekken's cool

I'm glad they didn't just go with Heihachi because he's been done to death as a guest character from Tekken.

While I would've preferred either a Soul Calibur rep or Jin, he's a cool choice, too. Honestly, I'm just glad it wasn't Heihachi.

At this rate, I would be shock if Crash does not make it into the game. The timing for him is perfect because the series is popular again unlike during the days of Brawl and Smash 4.

Kazuya wouldn't be my first choice for a Namco fighting game rep, but considering he was the first "protagonist" of the Tekken series, I get it.

It sucks that Dante is a Mii outfit. I guess I have to wait for Smash 6 to have Dante vs. Cloud to happen.

If nothing else, I am glad that this deconfirms Lloyd. If any Tales character deserves to be in Smash, it's the one who started it all: Cress.

Sakurai didn't have to hurt us this bad. First with those Mii costumes then making it painfully clear that the next character is the final one.

And, to be honest, after the Byleth reveal for the final character of season 1, I don't have much hope.

I have a feeling the last character will probably be someone from BOTW2 or even E.M.M.I. from Metroid Dread.

Another Zelda rep would be nice. It's odd for such a gigantic franchise, they don't have 8 characters (Something which FE fans argued in support for Byleth's inclusion)

Maybe a Pokemon? If the final DLC is still gonna be released this year, it would tie in nicely with BDSP's release.

I'm at the very least glad we got the costumes over nothing, what that short video leaves out is Sakurai saying all 4 of them were very popular requests so at the very least, there's next time. As for the fighter himself, Kazuya looks fucking goddamm

I've got a wild card guess that it'll be Tabuu or Master Hand; as it's the last character they'll be making for at least a while probably. I could in fact see this being Sakurai's last time working on Smash; it wouldn't surprise me if he decided to retire or move on to other projects after this and I REALLY wouldn't blame him. So he may wanna go out with a bang

Why is the trailer has it as Smash Bros x Dante? I doubt they are scared of the religious parents because we have two characters in the game that look like the devil.
