Looks like the eagle is a new piece.

What leg piece could they include with GaoIcarus, though? Since the Rhino/Armadillo combo are typically used in that combo, too.

Either a re-release of GaoRhino and GaoArmadillo or the Giant GaoLion for use in a GaoKentaurus formation!

The giant GaoLion would be pretty sweet. Dunno if they'd go through with that due to it's sheer size (Along with Icarus's size thanks to the falcon's wingspan), but still, would be nice.

I think the re-release of those two would make the most sense. Also, it made me realize, wow, Gaoranger really skimped on the leg options :lol

They could release a set of just 5 "auxiliary" units. They did they with Kiramager, Set 04 was 5 mechs that didn't combine. Falcon may even be 2 boxes.

Well, to go into this release a little bit more!

GaoMuscle Striker here actually comes with an alternate pair of legs -- Bison and Eagle as you see there. They're a fixed piece unfortunately with no articulation, meant purely to represent the commonly-used GaoMuscle formation while still having Striker. In addition it also comes with banana bomb-holding hands for Gorilla, the Muscle Anchor from the movie, and gun mouth hands for the bears.

So personally what I think will happen is that GaoIcarus will come with non-transforming Rhinos/Madillo legs -- though articulated, and probably a bit more accurate like with the Eagle/Bison legs included here. I think they would also use that opportunity to include the giant Gaolion.

Oh, and if they ever do it (which I think they will), GaoKnight would probably come with articulated non-transforming Eagle/Bison legs. Just my guess!

We got some irl product shots of Gaomuscle Striker! It was all CGI models before so this is pretty nice -- it's still incomplete prototypes though; with all the eyes missing and especially Gaomadillo being completely inaccurate. Still a good look at what to expect, though!

I wonder if its just the upper body and like dummy/non-articulated legs. Those wings looks like they could take up some boxes.

I finally put together my GaoKing this weekend and was a blast and it looks great but man oh man squeezing some of those parts together for GaoBison was downright painful haha

I also found putting those very tight pieces together painful, and ironically, the hips are nevertheless super-loose, so the legs come off if you look at them funny. GaoKing might be otherwise great, but GaoBison's loose hips make posing the legs a nightmare.

Weird question but can the eagle wings be posed while combined with the lion? I had the idea to unify the torso as a custom chimera zord and I’m curious how posable the become while combined or if combining locks the wing movement.

any word on when Elephant? My current guess is Panda/Elephant/Kong as a 'wrap-up' group

I am curious how pricey Gao Icarus is going to be. *shudders*

Fascinating that the GaoKnight release is a direct remake of the original DX release, not just including the four GaoKing components but even making GaoElephant black! I assume the show-accurate blue will be released later. Just pretty cool all in all!

That makes me really happy.

Maybe if we're lucky GaoIcarus will also be retail.

Actually, it's the other way around. The peg to connect Gaobison to Gaolion (and ultimately Gaogorilla) is actually located on Gaobision. The Gaogorilla will connect to Gaoeagle using a cage system similar to the original toy before connecting to Gaobison.

As for how eagle will be able to work around the peg, there's a system of joints that will allow the body to extend and a flap located on its abdomen to open up, likely to allow for clearance around the peg.

Super Mini-Pla kits or now Shokugan Modelling Project kits don't normally get reprinted or restocked after their initial release.

Though because Bandai is continuing the GaoRanger line with more Gao Animals I could see them keeping GaoKing in print a little longer. But who knows for sure...

Specifically it mentions re-releasing the older Super Mini Pla kits under the Shokugan Modelling Project line.

There's a list of most requested kits with Might Gaine surprisingly at the top. But also Dairanger and Timeranger at 5th and 6th respectively.

Gaogaigar is one of the few kits that got a re-release and it sold out each time. So that's a good sign for the popularity and demand for re-releases.

Zyuranger and Dairanger both have 30th anniversaries coming up, so I would not be surprised if they get released under SMP, but I hope Dairanger definitely gets one as Zyu was just released maybe five years ago for the 25th?

I'm hoping Zyuranger gets re-released though, because the original release is now far more expensive than I'm willing to pay.

Yeah Zyuranger stuff is still evergreen, a re-release seems like a strong bet.

Can anyone explain the black elephant in the gaoknight set? All the pictures have him recolored though from what I’ve seen knight uses the same zord as the rest of the series? I can only assume it’s some pre color thing like a prototype.

It's because it replicates the original toy -- in the movie, Gaoknight had the blue elephant as normal; but the DX release had the elephant in black instead. So this release comes with that, and presumably the normal blue elephant will be released in a later set.
