I just want to see what the budget line action figures this year will be like. I doubt they'll keep going with RKF, and I also doubt they'll settle for just SO-DO.
|
I'm honestly really loving how Revice is shaping up to be. He still reminds me heavily of Build with Den-O's head, but I still can't help but love this design. I don't know, maybe I just love seeing how crazy the Reiwa Riders have been shaping up to be.
I really like how the blue guy from earlier is now black with a Tyrannosaurus head, and a SCARF! He actually has a scarf! It really does look like Revice has the BeyonDriver, and it's neat that people pointed out the 50 in the logo, wonder how he'll pay tribute to the 50th Anniversary. |
I'm not seeing the Build connection that most people are pointing out. It reminds me more of Kiva with the abs and musculature highlights.
This being a technology based rider does line up with my theory that the Reiwa riders are inspired by their Heisei counterparts (Kuuga and Agito being one combined idea). Don't forget that Faiz arguably has the most prominent "chomper" teeth of Heisei. |

Wonder what kind of dinos they'll introduce in Revice?
T-Rex? Triceratops? Pteranodon/Pterodactyl? Brontosaurus/Brachiosaurus? Stegosaurus? Plesiosaurus? |
This probably isn't the case, but it would have been cool if Dino Guy is Revice's civilian form and we got a non-human protagonist.
|
just get rid of the dumb teeth and it's perfect

I'm not sure what it is (could be the texture of the dino parts?) but the friend now looks even more like a monster to me instead of a rider. And I kinda like that? Whatever it turns out to be, I'm getting more and more excited for Revice!
|
I miss the old KR toy catalogs. They be easier for us to know what we're dealing with in future KRs.

That one diagonal pattern on Revice also is probably why it resembles Build's suit as well.

This leak pic of Revice in a form change and Buddy fighting what seems to be a MOTW.
Guessing Revice is Nawata? Then Buddy could be Asai or Eitoku. Either or. |
I don't know but if the black dino is Revice's buddy/imajin-like character and can transform into rider then if this is true isn't it the same as what we got in Zenkaiger with Kaito and the Kikainoids?

How zenkaiger specifically has been handling it is really clever, you'll notice that in the background they usually have one kikanoid and one human together or a few kikanoids, rather than having big groups of unmasked actors, not 100% of the time but pretty regularly Even outside of following laws around health safety, I'm sure after KirameiRed had covid, and all those initial delays, Toei probabaly really doesn't want to miss more weeks of filming, so this is just generally a unique and clever way of keeping actors safe Honestly I'm curious if the world in Revice will just be full of dinosaur people lol |
I must admit I'm one of the few to not be that happy if one of the main character is a non human like Imajins or the zenkaiger guys.
i'm not really acquainted with that kind of characters (except imajins) so my judgement has absolutely no value, but I'm not fond of them and prefer when it's real human beings interacting, having face reactions and all, and not full robotic suits or something. Though I understand with Covid that's kind of a nice solution to avoid some problems. Funny enough, Saber was always made fun of because of its sentai features, and the year after you get a Dino themed rider with possibily a kaijin friend or something. |
We got no info yet to know more, I guess. Both seems to be just different forms for the Buddy, one as an individual rider and one as a partner to Revice. Rumor did say that Revice transforms for both of them, so maybe he can still be human.

I think the fact that revice's chest plate is a stamp template while dinohood's chest has been stamped by that template is an important detail? Maybe Revice can "imprint" himself on monsters? |
Just wonder how many riders there'll be in the series? That goes for the number of dinosaurs they'll use.
The kaijin better be dinosaurs too! |
I'm hoping for a lower number than usual -- and further I'm hoping that Revice's partner implies other riders will too; meaning less riders than usual. I'd be okay with like 3 or so before Christmas but man I really don't want to see anything as messy as Saber's handling of a bazillion riders again.

So the buddy character is completely separate from the secondary Rider?

Okay, from the limited amount I've seen, I hate this design... which I'm delighted about. I'm sad that I've gotten to this point, but I think I may just skip Rider for a year and hope it gets better eventually. For me, the toys have pretty much choked the show to death.
|
My biggest problem with the past two Reiwa shows in terms of toys has been the glut of transformation belts or similar items. Can we just get like one belt in Q1 please?

And for secondary/tertiary/dark rider, if the protagonist proves to be someone of an annoyance, I'd have someone who barks back at the fool that he's wrong about something and doesn't take it too seriously. |

I still remember when you whined about Sabela not being a "real" female Rider due to her being a villain at the time, so please don't bring up women's rights lol |
I mean... speaking as a woman myself, it sticks out way more to me to have 1 female rider out of 7 than it does to have 1 out of 3. Like you can have the tertiary be a girl, you know? I seem to recall them attempting that in 01...
|
do we really still have any hope for women being treated not-awfully in this franchise? The last three years feels like these shows keep trying to top themselves in how disappointing they can be in that regard.
|
I'm optimistic about things.
I mean the fact of the matter is there's some sort of push going on, whether that translates to the writers and producers is a tossup at best. But the fact that we've been getting a lot more female Riders as of late is at least a sign of gears turning slightly. |
We have been, though... I gotta admit, the way Sabela and Valkyrie have been handled makes me wish they just hadn't bothered at all.
Still! Optimistic for this season, so whatever. Main hope is still that they keep the number of Riders low because otherwise it just becomes a mess |
Valkyrie and Sabela may have been underwhelming, but just the fact that we've had two seasons in a row (three if you count Tsukuyomi, though having not seen Zi-O I don't know how well she was handled either) with female riders seems encouraging.
I do hope Revice has fewer riders especially if each one also has a monster partner, two many-rider seasons in a row was kind of a lot and it would be nice to have one that tightened the focus on a smaller cast again. And like Kurona said, if they keep up this pattern of 1 female rider per season, 1 out of 3 is a lot less glaring than 1 out of 13. (Now watch as Revice's monster buddy turns out to be this season's token woman and she never has a human form XD) |
i hope that revice is just nothing but dudes having bromances everywhere, because i am so tired of 'we need more female riders' being a criticism and then being upset when the female riders aren't even necessarily that important
/hyperbolic joke On a more serious note, while I do love the seasons where there are a LOT of Riders, I do think that the more Riders there are, the more difficult it is to give all the Riders equal focus, and that when there's a female Rider who isn't a main character, that people just zoom in on that, even if there are plenty of male Riders who don't get focused on in the main series. And I'm specifying 'main series' since some Riders DO get lucky and get extra material focused on them, like Buster, but that extra material isn't always important, and/or is just something arguably for fun, like the Gridon vs. Bravo specials. Like being sidelined in and of itself isn't really that much of an issue, I think. Happens to plenty of Riders who aren't the main two/three hero Riders or the main villain Rider(s). It's just that with female Riders, it's a lot more noticeable because people seem to really put a lot of expectations and sometimes unfound importance onto them, only to inevitably get disappointed when they're not nearly as important as they seemed because the focus is not on them. Like I'm not saying it's wrong to be disappointed if you are, it's just that I think people should ease up on expecting TOO much. And it's not like being a Rider is the only thing that would make a female character important. In Zero-One, Izu is arguably the MOST important character besides Aruto and Fuwa on the protagonist side (excluding the movie where she DOES become a Rider, but that's long after the series ended). So I dislike the idea that the only way a female character can be important is if they fight. EDIT: Gonna clarify that I DO like seeing more female Riders, it's always cool to see more of them, I just think that people shouldn't put so much expectations on them being 'super important' too much, because that can just lead to disappointment. Like I'm not a fan of Reika's character development after Ryoga's introduction (even if I do like his concept), but I always had a feeling that in the grand scheme of Saber's story that she wasn't nearly as important as some people thought she was, so it didn't necessarily bother me. And Ryoga's basically in the same boat. |

Like, look at the Reiwa shows. Who are the most important male characters who don't transform? Tassel? Those comic relief guys at Hiden? Buster's son??? I appreciate this line of thinking but I don't think it really looks at things from the flipside, where every semi-important male character (and also ones that barely matter like Slash and Ikazuchi) do transform. When you had shows like OOO or Wizard the focus was on a singular character and a later secondary that could transform, and even shows with a larger amount of Riders from the start like Blade or Agito had major male supporting casts -- and while a lack of female riders in these shows is still annoying, it's a lot easier to accept for those reasons. But in the modern day, every single character gets to transform... EXCEPT the girls, so it's way more suspect. To be quite frank, I would much rather have situations like Ghost or Blade or Drive where none of the girls get to transform but there's only 3-4 Riders in the whole show anyway and most of the characters are supporting cast members; including guys who don't transform. But you can't just throw out "You just don't understand that characters can still be important without transforming!" without acknowledging that it's the most ironic thing you could say about modern Rider where any guy with more than five lines is guaranteed to have a toy on shelves within a couple months. |
Also the major female leads in recent years haven't been great either in my opion. Izu's main and only character trait from beginning to end was just being a subservient support to Aruto (and also she got fridged during the last arc). And Tsukuyomi... sucks. She's barely a character.
Mei is alright, though. |

Hopefully we'll get to see more non-Rider male characters in Revice, because while I do love having multiple Riders, it'd be refreshing to see them put out the idea that 'not everyone needs to be a Rider to be important' again. Quote:

Not that I don't think we should stop, since it's super cool that we've gotten this far with having female Riders, and even our first nonbinary Rider with Naki. And let's be honest, the best place to get real female representation in toku in the first place is Super Sentai. |
