Speaking of Mick, him gravitating towards Tokime reminds me of how cat-like I felt she was...
|
Man, this has been really good thus far. The show really captures everything about W. I really like how Fuuto PI utilizes a 3-episode arc format to draw out the story more. Do you all think this is a true sequel to Double? I for one do.

So currently it focuses on mostly Shotaro and Philip. Now they're taking a "case" outside of Narumi Detective Agency obligations, seemingly getting nothing from the clients which are mega rich family here, explains their wild fashion sense Shotaro got distracted with.
I totally called it that, the women are kamen so that Kuya can focus on their personality (yes, their bodies are voluptuous, but butter face is a thing), though it's just a tradition in general too which bring back Kamen Singers (sadly not referenced in this episode). Lots of thoughts are put in Alcohol Dopant, which is a good thing. alcohol can make you drunk, and it's also flammable, and if that is combined on an MOTW, it'd make them more dangerous threat, weaponizing flames as well as being immunte to flinching. Though W switching to HeatJoker when he got burned is good too, and here it's a case of fighting fire with fire not working on W. There's multiple red herring here for sure, there's Bando as an employee in Kagamino family, and as Shotaro and Philip noted, even if Kuya forces his brides to put a mask, he doesn't look for a good women, but those which personality suits him the best. There's also a butler did it cliche, and for meta wise, there were loads of unpleasant and/or morally dark beautiful women in W overall. Ironic that Shotaro talks about Kuya attracting only gold diggers or such and not looking for good women, but Shotaro's attracted to femme fatales, which are normally not good women either. Quote:

The serial bride candidate murders at a mansion in a blizzard continues, with Shotaro and Philip right in the middle of it.
I'll give Kei this much...she's a bold one. Not afraid to say what everyone's thinking that the last candidate alive would win or that she'd kill to win all that money by marrying Kuya, and she has no qualms about using her body to do it (dat boob flaunting). Of course I guess it's kind of fitting she ended up dying naked in the bath. I love how Kei propositioned Kuya for masked sex before Kurumi showed up. And then Kuya has enough of that nonsense and just walks away. Revolgarry launch! Akiko looked so confident leading the charge! Weather Dopant cameo! It's nice to see Isaka make a cameo, and kind of fitting given what we see with Terui/Accel in this episode. Hmm...does Kuya know who Kanna actually is? Do they know each other? Is that why he was bothered so much by her leaving? Even Kurumi thinks she was secretly his favorite. We also don't know why Kanna is really there. Unless Kuya is in on it and they didn't want to lose another guinea pig. So it turns out...not only are all the bridal candidates actually the Alcohol Dopant (Kei was the one who fought W)...but none of them are the murderers. Actually they're more like the victims, because they were all brought into this as test subjects for the Alcohol Memory which basically possessed them and was killing them with alcohol poisoning every time they used it. This wasn't a marriage contest, it was a lab experiment, with these women being used for it. Were some of the chills Tokime was feeling Bando, given their possible connection? It seems like she knows something about Museum too, which I guess comes from her past life with Bando and his group. "Hen...Shin!" "Despair awaits you at the finish line." He said it! He said the things! And we finally get our Accel Henshin! And we even got to see Trial. Tokime's reaction to Terui bringing out his driver and finding out he transforms into a bike was priceless. As was her terrified face has she rode him. Bando realizes Kamen Rider is as good at detective work as they are with fighting Dopants, and makes himself scarce...though not before leaving one of his associates to clean things up. Masquerade Dopants! Perfect for some out-of-suit action and for Accel to run over. Is that some kind of...Banshee Dopant? What with the ethereal quality and her sonic attacks? She's pretty sadistic, and dangerous enough that Accel has to bring out Trial to be able to fight her. Also, that boob jiggle. So...who is the culprit? Grandma, the butler, or Kuya? From the looks of it at the end, feels like all three are in on it. |
He's here! And just in time for that CSM Accel Driver 1.5! Yeah, they did Terui right here. From him turning into a bike, to his Henshins as both Accel and Trial getting rather failfully animated, he was a highlight for sure. Outside of that though, I'm still sticking with my initial hunch as to who the true culprit is. I felt that the twist about the true nature of the crime was a bit of a stretch(which Philip even lampshades), but it's not a major issue. Depending on how the final act of this goes, this might be my favorite of the arcs so far. |
:lol Philip pointing out how often he cross-dresses. "I swear I'm not into it." Okay bro.
Also Accel was fucking awesome. Totally worth all that build up. |
Absolutely love that Alcohol Dopant effects the user just like its namesake, only to a mortal degree. Higher tolerance means better control of its abilities, lower tolerance means you could black out, but regardless using it for too long essentially poisons you with alcohol. It's a brilliant downside.
|
He's here!!! Accel!!!
Also, I kind of figured there had to be a reason for that family to be friends with Bando, and not him pretending or something, since everyone was in on it. I do enjoy how they didn't make it as simple as "the butler dood it" and I think it fits, I was wondering why everyone looked like happy drunks when they died, especially bachelorette number one. I'm assuming the masks might have been what inserted the outlets into their heads. But boy! Accel stole the show! We got Tokime's reaction to Accel becoming a bike, which was worth it, and him going ham on the Masquerades, which I was really happy to see again along with the Revolgarry (which I kept forgetting its name). Looks like that one Dopant from Bandotown's come out to play while Brachiosaurus runs around Healing Princess Neo and Terui flexing his coffee skills (though, not going to lie, I hope we get a new end segment). Long story short. I liked this episode, and this arc so far. |
Kanna seems to be set up as a red herring for this case, due to her not showing up at the gathering (which can imply she's acting as Alcohol Dopant somewhere else), her denial when being interrogated (often done to hide their actions), other brides being killed with Kurumi being surprised (thus she doesn't know why Kei was killed and by extension Alcohol Memory). But turns out that in this case, all of them are technically Alcohol Dopants. Though there are bitchy brides particularly Kei, the culprit here wouldn't be any of those, the brides are guinea pigs, and they die by using said Memory, with Philip not lying when he "saves" Kurumi from certain death.
Finally Shotaro did it, actually recognizing in-universe that his idealistic beliefs can have him being looked down by others as 'half-boiled', though fortunately for him here, Philip actually praises this trait of him that it makes Shotaro a good judge of character instead. Other than Shotaro perceiving Kanna's hospitality as genuine that murdering others is contradictory to her inability to abandon others or her plea at the night, I agree that it'd be unnecessary for her to save those 2 when she plans the murders. So once in a while, W had a genuinely good-natured hot girl in Kanna, with her actually forgetting the events too by being KOed when trying Alcohol Memory (and probably missed the gathering due to being unconscious). Philip's pretty boy looks is used in an important manner again... as a crossdresser to get to know the Alcohol Dopant users (all 4 brides). By disguising as Kanna, Kurumi exposes the truth behind Alcohol Memory out of her jealousy and competitiveness (more with Kanna being perceived as Kuya's favorite). Tokime's Fuuto PI audience surrogate as this is the sequel of W, and thus she'd have over the top reaction when turns out that what Akiko wrote was literal, Accel really is the bike. Have looked forward into her reaction knowing this, and t's priceless, and even some audience do have a reaction as surprised as Tokime learning Accel is a bike. |
I just wanna say that I CALLED IT! Anyway yeah, this was my most preferred arc in the show so far. And pertaining to this episode specifically, it wraps everything up pretty solidly. But like, are we just supposed to pretend that Tokime and Yukiji don't look alike? No one in the cast notes it. Maybe they just couldn't see him clearly due to how far away he was? Also I dunno why, but the reveal that Shotaro drinks kinda caught me off guard. Atleast the episodes ends with "please drink responsibly" haha. |
Wonder when Double is gonna use the FangMetal & FangTrigger? I love to see how they work for him! Hope they go live action soon.
|
So it was the grandmother! Except this goes way beyond experimenting on bridal candidates, grandma has had dealings with Museum, been one of the earliest Dopants, and has been using her powers to commit crime and murder in the service of her family. Even the whole marriage charade was to find a seedy woman capable of succeeding her as the Alcohol Dopant and family matriarch. This is one dangerous grandma!
Sonozaki flashbacks! Young Philip, Wakana, and Saeko! It?s too bad we didn?t get to see their parents young? Not only is Kiku the real and original Alcohol Dopant, but she?s the strongest and a High Dope, with abilities far beyond normal Dopant users. She basically manhandles W and they can?t get a hit in! But that means it?s time for?XTREEEEEEEMMMMMMME!!!! W?s Final Form makes its anime debut and it looks amazing! They even added a rainbow effect to the subs when they transformed! The only thing missing was Xtreme Dream, but watching them finish off Alcohol was awesome! Well, at least Kiku took her loss with dignity and made sure her beloved grandson survived? Scream Dopant can hold her own against Trial! And likes to take selfies with her victims! Sick! Our heroes finally meet the villains as Bando reveals himself and an awesome transformation into the Aurora Dopant. And Tokime?s recollection of High Dopes and Bando reflect her history with them that she still can?t recall. I love how Kanna was only involved in this because she wanted to do something exciting in her life for once. At least it seems like she and Tsumuri might become genuine friends. Shotaro you have Tokime! You don?t need to be charming Kanna! But while Kuya didn?t end up with anyone, he?s dedicated to building himself as a self made and respectable man and move on from the memory of his grandmother. Fairly nice note to end things on The irony that the grandson of the Alcohol Dopant was a teetotaler?and the butler had the best tolerance along with his mistress! |
The moment it was revealed that the brides were the Dopant Subjects, it was obvious the one who picked them would be the mastermind. That and the fact than Bando was a "friend."
But this was a great arc! We got Accel in action along with Trial Form, and X-Treme, which while a short fight, it was a fun fight to watch nonetheless, and pretty much standard for Rider shows in general (not in a bad way). Also, the grandma's final moments were really nice. The Villains have revealed themselves, along with Bando's transformation and Brachiosaurus (big boy). The only one we haven't seen or know of yet, is the young boy looking one with Bando in the City. And I just enjoy how they breakdown the cases at the end of the arcs followed by a goofy moment, which in this case was that Kuya revealing he doesn't drink (not alone, buddy), which really brings my mind back to the original W Season, which also reminds me, did they also mention if people have the memories long enough, they get superpowers in the original season as well? Maybe I'm slowly going mad. Also, it appears Kanna was there to fill in the slot, which figures since she seemed the least "filthy rich girl" out of the quartet. Now everyone's going to get honest living. Then we get another ending session with Akiko hosting a drinking club where the losers turn into the Alcohal Dopant and the Butler is the clear winner. Sounds like something she'd do. |
|
XTREEEEEEEEME!
Have to say I wasn't expecting more detailed callbacks to Museum and the Sonozaki family with this arc but it makes sense. |

I take it these aren't voice actors? I'll definitely look, but the guys are somehow very artificial. The originals were somehow more to themselves. Waiting for Aссel, Akiko and really, really looking forward to Tokime. |
So the culprit is Kiku, the grandma, and she had some connections with Museum. She wants the best for her family, but only them, while as she said she had many bodycounts as well as taking fortunes to make Kagamino family the way it is. Though the bride competition wasn't a front, it's actually a bride competition, just that, Kiku meant for the wife to continue Kagamino shady dealings. Even the bride's homicidal tendencies are her fault too by making Alcohol Memory worked that way. She also died in her burning mansion... just like Ryubee, and as a High Dope, she's the first one to force W to use Xtreme.
The Dopants mostly aren't killed after they're beaten, but Shotaro's concern of their human form is highlighted here due to Kiku being old, of which otherwise, she's far more capable as the Alcohol Dopant than the others. So it seems to save others better, more power is required, so the fight can end faster as Shotaro wanted. This is a case where I got a bit annoyed by Shotaro though (of which, Kiku claims there should be limit in kindness), to kinda justify what Kiku does due to how it's for the best of Kuya (he still should save her, but not correct her behavior). He failed anyway, due to Tadashi Kimura, the butler, which sets the mansion on fire after her defeat. Loyalty isn't always a good thing, and it's shown in Kimura who'd also support Kiku's dirty dealings. In contrast to what he said to Tokime in their feud, Philip here delivered the truth to Shotaro, but in civil way, that even as Xtreme, there are still something they can't do. Other than the baddies, seems that everyone that got involved in the bride selection now become friends. And even with a bunch of pretty girls at the bride selection, the male Kuya can become bros with Shotaro too. I kinda wish that after Kanna thanked Shotaro, Shotaro would also brought up that Kanna saved the detectives first too. Despite being the head family, Kuya's not only someone completely innocent, but can't drink alcohol at all too. Too bad for the others that, it's unintentional, but Kuya could've solved the case faster if he told them that he can't drink alcohol. Kuya's genuinely locked out of the loop of his family's shady dealings, but I'd bet if this is real world, Kuya would be demonized for being a part of Kagamino, or letting them do their shady dealings unchecked, or just being out of touch (when people aren't omniscient, though Kuya wanted to work this off by becoming self-made man). |
When do you all think is a good time for FangMetal & FangTrigger? And I got a feeling Tokime is from the same city as Aurora.
|
I think they will end the season on FangTrigger and tie it into season 2
|
Considering the case format this next arc will be our last, so I assume they're gonna end it on one of the new Fang forms.
Also gonna assume the stage play means the manga reception and by extent the anime reception have been good. To clarify, the actors in the stage play aren't the voice actors. Stage plays of manga or anime properties have their own cast to work with. So essentially, we'll now have four versions of W's cast that will exist in media. The original series cast. The manga portrayals. The anime portrayals. The stage play portrayals. |
It also depends on which Volume Fang Trigger debuts in as well since each three episode arc is a Manga Volume and I think we've only gotten through 1 through 3 thus far.

By the way, it just popped into my head. Will Sanju write the script for the stage show?
|
At this rate, season 1 is going to end on vol 4 of the manga which is 37 chapters (kinda, they skipped the mini arc about Philip's cat), Fang Trigger debut's in chapter 65, and Fang Metal doesn't appear until chapter 100. So with the pace they're going at, unless they skip a bunch of cases we won't see Fang Trigger until the end of season 2, and Fang Metal until the end of season 3 assuming we get those of course (also keep in mind this is under the assumption that future seasons will also be 12 episodes).

Shadow Fuuto is not a safe place to be...especially if you've run afoul of Bando and his people.
Shotaro and Tokime really feel like a relationship bound by fate, especially when it turns out Tokime's broken Memory...was a Joker Memory, just like Shotaro's. So does that mean Tokime was the Joker Dopant? Is she Joker with boobs? Lot of questions there. But even if Tokime still has a lot questions about her past and who she is/was, she's got Shotaro and the rest of the cast willing to support and be there for her! Classic case of a little girl worried about her grandpa and the shady dealings he got himself into...but Rentaro was just too skilled for his own good, to the point of creating something that could be used by dangerous people, and only realizing the danger until it was too late. I wonder how much of a personality shift Tokime's amnesia caused because she feels much more terrified of Shadow Fuuto than she thinks she used to be, or maybe it's just she realized how dangerous it really is. Why are there so many old W Dopants in Shadow Fuuto acting like they're still alive? Are they just feral monsters now? Although Beast Dopant sure got chewed up. I love Akiko trying to will the Joker Memory into working again. Duo Henshin with W and Accel! Perfect thing to enter into the final arc of this season. So Mamoru isn't the Brachiosaurus Dopant (despite his height) and he's not giving our heroes a lot of answers...but he does admit he works for Bando, is after an executive position (since they're the ones who get the drivers), runs the energy in Shadow Fuuto, and in that respect it's fitting that he turns out to be Reactor Dopant. A living Nuclear Furnace! W and Accel can barely keep up with him in their base forms, and he can literally burn through their suits. It seems like they don't stand a chance against any of the upper tier of Bando's group without their strongest forms. So Tokime's been kidnapped by the Brachiosaurus Dopant...who turns out to be a kid. But he definitely seems to know Tokime. Some surprise comedy with our villains all culminating in a joke on Bando's name that is kind of obvious when you think about it. |
I thought that in Fuuto PI there was still a skew among the W halves, which was also avoided in the original series. That is, both now and then, Shotaro gets more screen time. But in 2009, this was offset by the importance of Philip to the plot. In the anime, his role as a MacGuffin character is given to Tokima and Phillip is essentially a minor character. This can still be fixed by somehow connecting him personally with Bando or Shadow Fuuto.
|
Also in the scene after the credits of one of the previous episodes, the Cyclone-Aссel merger was mentioned. In reality W, this is not possible given Shotaro and Philippe's deep bond, but it is possible to make an alternate reality like in "Secret Birth Movie". I would love to look at this, and then Bandai will be able to sell a new toy.

Yeah, this definitely has "final arc of the season" vibes all over it. The plot gets serious pretty quick and a possible answer to the mystery of Tokime's' past is dangled right infront of us. Reactor also has "season 1 final boss" written all over him, and I think his might be my favorite Dopant design in the show so far. The fight with him, while basic, did do a solid job at showing off his power. All that is good enough for me. I'm ready to see where this goes. |
Fitting we're ending the anime with a retrofitted/reworked version of the first Dopant every created.
Since Reactor was based on the first Dopant ever made (Even before Magma) that couldn't be used because it was not possible to create a suit of at the time. https://kamenrider.fandom.com/wiki/I...n/Steam_Dopant |

So. Many. References!!! All in the little notebook Tokime was looking through, mentioning names from the W series. Really loved those callbacks!
Looks like we might be seeing a Joker Dopant after all, now all that's left is Cyclone, since the others appeared in the W Summer Movie. And now we're going into Shadow Fuuto (with those fans looking strikingly similar to Ichigo's belt), now that Bando wants Tokime back in his Dopant City. But first, they must overcome Reactor Dopant, who has a really neat design, I especially enjoy the piston. And as we probably all knew, the moment it was revealed he wasn't the Brachiosaurus Dopant (though he has the habit of slamming his overalls like that guy from Fourze, who's name escapes me), that left the kid. The fight was short, but the idea that they're suits are getting actual damage really sells how strong their enemy is this time. I also enjoyed the skit at the end with the Band-O, and him reaffirming that his subordinates aren't suited (heh) for it. And neat thing about the Reactor Dopant. Thanks for the info, Enchilada! |

The more you learn. |
No it was in the W Summer Movie with the rest of the NEVER Dopants and Eternal, it just didn't show up as often as they did.
|
Gosh dangit! My memory is that bad!
|
I always found the Never Dopants interesting given Cyclone and Metal are clearly designed to look like "incomplete" halves of W with one compound eye, as if the Memories themselves were always designed for the W Driver, but Heat, Luna, and Trigger are all more typical Dopants with no obvious W influence.
