I hear so much good stuff about this thing, but everytime I look at the price and realize I can pay for both MP Optimus Primal and SS Double with that kind of money I'm like "Nope".

Price might be worth it, but it’s too rich for my blood, plus I don’t care about Diaclone anyways.

Good news, the next wave of DC Icons are finally out.

Bad news, my comic shop only got Harley in. I had them preordered at BBTS, but I really wanted to have Superman in hand today. Oh well. I picked her up so I could get something today.

Harley herself is fantastically sculpted and I'm so glad I didn't go after that overpriced Mad Love 2 pack Mattel snuck out into scalper arms several years ago. The only negatives are that I wish she had her open smiling face head instead of the closed lips one and she only comes with a gun holding hand for the left arm, not the right. That kind of sucks. Oh yeah as does the lack of having any open hands. It's either fists or gripping hands. Nevertheless, the articulation is fantastic, she isn't as thing as a twig, and the paint apps are pretty nice.

Overall, despite the normal complaint about the lack of a thigh swivel, Aquaman is pretty awesome. The sculpt is fantastic and he can hold his trident. The alternate head with the fish call thing is a nice touch and his heads are pretty nice looking. Unfortunately, the trident is very flimsy, so you need to becareful with it or it is going to break with ease. I love that he also has three sets of hands to choose from.

So uh... Superman... yeah... He is probalby my least favorite Icons figure to date. It is a shame too because he has so much greatness going on. The sculpting is great, especially on there hair. The chest and cape have the pentagon shape for the symbol sculpted on. The hair is fantastic. However, his left arm looks off when the elbow isn't bent due to how big his bicep is and the gaps between the legs and the waist is HUGE!! It looks fine some certain angles, but when you look at him straight on, it just looks terrible. The bigger gap doesn't even help him with leg articulation either. In fact, I don't get why this wave was delayed because there is nothing on him to show any sort of improvements to justify it. He doesn't even have boot rotation like all of the other Icons with boots do.

Don't get me wrong, I think this figure puts the Mattel one to shame still, but I don't know what happened with this figure when they designed him. I just hope the next incarnation of Superman they do in the Icons line (that isn't N52) is done with a lot more care. If you are like me and need to have him in your collection, don't let the negatives stop you. However, if you are pretty meh on Superman overall, and are just collecting your favorites in the Icons line, you might want to skip him.

Oh, his robot is pretty cool though. He is a great edition despite the fact that we lost out on a third set of hands for him.

Here's something almost cool.

Earlier today through a silly series of events I discovered this MOCer, and god damn they're amazing. And once I saw their Love Live petits, I was struck with a huge desire to recreate one. So I did.

Pilfered from just...dozens of my sets to make this, but unfortunately there were quite a lot of parts I didn't have so I had to substitute some stuff (most notably the blazer, got like zero earth blue parts apparently). Regardless, I am super pleased with how this looks, and I love it. I'll probably have to take it apart soon, since I still want to display all those sets I took parts from, but I'm definitely going to look into making some Bricklink orders so I can make another (more accurate) one. And honestly the petit template is super exploitable and super adorable, so I'm probably gonna be messing around with it to make some other characters.

Nah, building Legos like this is really cool, not just almost. Doesn't matter if you're missing some parts or not.

Thats a really nice job you did. You actually stumbled upon Moko, who's probably one of the most talented Lego builders in the world. I actually find it very frustrating just how talented and ingenious he is with parts use.

I actually was really disappointed with Fujiko Mine when I got her initially, warmed up to her a bit but still not a particularly good figure compared to the figma bodies.
