I beat the first two chapters of Last specter, man do i love the setting i this game.
|
Right now I'm working on getting all 100 Sun Stones in Kirby Triple Deluxe.
So far the game's been fun! At one point I'll learn how to deal with the bosses without getting TOO frustrated (seriously fuck you Pyribbit) and while Part 6 of DeDeDe Tour was a slog and a half it was overall a fun mode. Of the four new abilities I'm liking Archer the most and I'm sure Taliman will get a kick out of this; the game says spears are weapons of real warriors when you have the Spear Ability. |

I'm glad to hear that Triple Deluxe is a good game, I haven't played a Kirby game since Amazing Mirror, but I think I'll pick this one up. |
More Last of Us. God I love a good molotov, but punching people in the throat works pretty great also.
Continuing more on my tales of morals and ethics, I found a handwritten letter today that chronicled the way the Hunters fell apart and became the animals they are now. That Hunter who begged for me to wait, he was probably a normal person once, innocent once and he just had to do what he had to do to survive. In a world like this, who says what is right and what is wrong? No one starts a monster. Now we're out of the city, world building through play is only becoming stronger and tighter. From discovering a boat on the beach, which leads to the sewers we begin to follow Ish through the letters they left behind. This then leads into the shell of what was once a community of people hoping to survive, how their story played out is told to us simply by the fact there are Clickers roaming around the area. This rich story telling and deep understanding of their own world, is then held together by a wonderfully grim but maturely realised tone. This is a dark game, never gratuitous and never cheap. It takes a strong stomach but this is a game of powerful moments, which aren't pre rendered scenes but merely told as you poke around the remnants of the places you visit. That could just as easily be skipped if you chose to do so. It reminds me of Rapture so much. I think this trip through the Sewer Community has been the highlight of the game for me so far. I would one day love to play a survival game that chronicles the whole journey. I get that trying to imagine life before is half of the charm of these kinds of games but like I dunno, just a glimpse of happier times would be much appreciated. I heard in Burial By Sea you get to see Rapture before it goes to hell, so I really need to play that. |
Just made it past chapter 3 in Last specter.

The Last of Us is brilliant. It's gotten so good I don't really have much to talk about. I could just gush about how much I'm now enjoying the game but I usually like my posts to be a bit more constructive than that.

Good news and bad news on the Triple Deluxe front!
I now own all 100 Sun Stones and with them a shiny Queen Sectonia keychain! I have to admit getting them all was rough in a few spots but overall I'm glad I have them all and with a ribbon on the Story Mode option on the main menu! However True Arena was going well....then the roadblock known as Shadow DeDeDe came and since I lost Stone fighting Queen Sectonia DX he overpowered my Sword ability and sliced what remained of my life to pieces. The worst part about this is if I beat Shadow DeDeDe I have Dark Meta Knight and Soul of Sectonia to deal with...... and SoS has two forms before you can beat True Arena!!!! Mamma Mia; I'm in for a long hard road. Also SideSwipePrime when you have time get this game. It's lots of fun!!! |
I finished chapter 4 of Last specter.
I love scenes in a market place for some reason. |

According to the percentage thing I'm on the home stretch of Last of Us already, and I haven't even put in ten hours yet. Luckily there is DLC out as this is a pretty short title.
Usually when the character you're playing as in a video game like this swaps, it's a cheap novelty but taking control of Ellie, thrust into a chase sequence with a deer both shows how much Ellie has grown over the course of the game and also hints at the person she may have always been inside. There's only really two things that are bogging the game down for me by thi point. Firstly are Clickers, which are still one of the worst video game devices of all time. They are placed around the map like generic enemies, despite being bastards to kill who can make even shorter work of you, than you can of them. They are pointlessly difficult and add an unnecessary layer of pure frustration. Plus although I like the mature storytelling I must admit that the overwhelming pessimism telegraphs the twists from miles away. You may not know how they'll play out, but you know it's coming. By this point for something good to happen will be the only thing to shock me. Many of my earlier complaints - like the games complete and utter lack of originality - started to fall away as soon as they game had established its world so it could start focusing on the stuff in that world. |
Picked up Amazing Spider-Man. I heard the first one was a lot better than the second one, and with Wolverine, Captain America and Green Lantern all getting good movie tie in games I've stopped writing off tie in games in the water and given them a chance.
And...eh. It controls kinda awfully. Spider-Man is obviously a pretty complex mover, and to make it accessible to a mass audience - kids - the way Spider-Man controls is basically one button a hundred animations. So on screen he looks amazing, flipping through the air and all that but actually in your hands the controls feel insulting loose as you're just smashing the same button as the game holds your hand. This is especially frustrating as the game puts emphasis on stealth, and stealth needs tight controls with lots of freedom. Still the game is a direct sequel to the movie, so it's very much a story and character driven game while being very funny with lots of pop culture nods so it isn't like it's been a total wash yet. |
Been playing persona 4 arena and now I'm hunting person 4 ps2
|
Made it to chapter 8 in Last specter today.

I finished Last specter while waiting at the doctor, i'm just gonna play Pokemon and start Miracle mask tomorrow.

I've got less than five percent of the Last of Us to polish off this weekend, but now I'm basically done with the game. Is the expansion pack good? I saw it was going for 12 quid on PSN, that is more expensive than some of the full games you can get on PSN.
Now, to be honest, pretty much all of the hype around Last of Us' storytelling lives up. It uses the familiar to set groundwork and then really goes wild. Honestly it isn't even the story of Joel and Ellie I care all that about, it's the story of Last of Us' world. Like BioShock the game world is scattered with the fragments of a thousand stories, and each one paints a vivid picture and gives you a deeper understanding of the context of the gameplay. It is the quiet moments where I get to just explore and find memorable moments, which feel natural and not scripted, so they feel special that make the game. Moments like that are the reason why BioShock is my favourite game, and why I am loving this. Sadly for all the great bits of storytelling, when it comes to actually "playing it" the game really falls down by being really fucking hard. From Clickers, to forced stealth, to forced survival, to all manner of cheap deaths, the moments when I'm not discovering the game world have been an utter slog of my patience. The most amount of fun I have playing this, is stealth sections with Joel where I get to pick off people with a bow and arrow. I really love archers in games, I liked using archery in Skyrim. The other big downside is the length, sure most RPGs are too long but for a full priced title I was shocked I was inches from completion and hadn't even put in 12 hours yet. It hasn't been so bad for me, as I haven't really had a lot of free time lately, but if you didn't have much to do you could probably sit down and play the majority of this in a single sitting, if your patience can handle it. |
I decided to use the $17 of store credit I had for Gamestop to pick up The Bureau.
It's a bit choppy, but it seems decent so far. |
I went through a lot of invess and Kurokage troopers in order to craft this.
But it was worth it. https://mlpchan.net/rp/src/1400023753917.png |
Smite just put out a Cthulhu skin for Ah Muzen Cab and it looks awesome.

On the Kirby front I'm hunting down all the rare golden Key Chains. Right now all I'm missing is Taranza and then it's down to rounding out all the common ones.....and I'm missing good chunks of them! |
Started replaying Miracle mask today.
|
Giving League of legends a try.
Honestly, I don't play multiplayer games that often because of how many people can get severally but-hurt over loosing one game but League seems pretty fun based on the tutorial levels I've played. It looks simple but the customization and skill tree seems deep enough to come back too. |
Tried to do the Trials Fusion Extreme tracks again. I did not miss these blisters...
|
I finished Chapter 2 of Miracle mask earlier and i'm gonna do Chapter 3 right now.
Randall reminds me of my friend back in high school, they both have the same enthusiasm. |

I saw in the image, but the outlines looked really low res so I didn't know whether it was a teaser for something extra.

So is Left Behind worth getting then, gang? I'm almost done with Last of Us and it's not a great 'game' but it does tell a wonderful story.

Last Leg of Last of Us.
I was honestly surprised by how selfish, and near evil, Joel was in this final leg. I know the lines are blurred in a world like this, and it's ultimately about personal survival, but this is one of the few moments in the game that just aren't justifiable. Obviously seeing him grow to love Ellie is wonderful but wow bro, calm down. Overall Last of Us is one of the most richly immersive gaming experiences I've had since playing BioShock the first time. Sadly the punishing difficultly and clunky mechanics makes every fond memory of the title tainted with frustration. It isn't a touch on BioShock Infinite which was simultaneously my favourite title of 2013 and one of the best games I've ever played but at least in parts Last of Us actually lives up to the hype train that comes before it and that has to count for something. |
Spoilers for a future haul pic but I recently got Tales of Symphonia Chronicles so I've been playing the first game again. I paid 20 bucks for it, so that seemed like a real good value proposition for two Tales games.
I don't know why, but back when this game first came out I remember it being my least favrioute Tales of game. But I'm playing through the opening act and it seems fine, having gone through Xillia and Graces F(both of which I still need to finish) it's nice to experience the classic Tales of battle system again. Nice thing is: they give you bonus costumes if you already have save files for Xillia and Graces F. Other than the English dub work being so-so, the game is fine. I can't remember why I didn't really like it that much back then. Although, Lloyd Irving's English voice actor was disturbingly familiar….and it turns out that he also did Robin in Teen Titans. The things you find out with the magic of google. |
I've played more Project X Zone, 27 hours in and I am only halfway done, I love this game. =)
Also played more Battride War, Faiz with his Axel form is a total beast now. He is cheap as hell. |
