That's an odd decision to make. Huh.

The next pat of Adventure Tri. comes out on Crunchyroll at 8 a.m. on the 11th.
|
About time!!
|
Well, they advertised heavily on Jo, so here's hoping that something happens~
|

Jo being pretty down at the last part was rather annoying, but if they can explain that here and show us some character development I can forgive it. |
Lets not forget to mention the return of the Digimon Kaiser.
|
Let’s hope it’s not Ken again… with the 02 kids beaten and Imperialdramon appearing evil that’s not unlikely. Or maybe it’s Daisuke this time around? :lol
|
Either way it's the Kaiser. We'll have to wait and see. But I think Ken is the logical choice because it was/is a part of his psyche and the ultimate result of his digivice turning black.
|
Totally forgot about that. Wanted to keep catching up on some other anime, but think now that's going to take precedence... Looking forward to it.

It's probably Ryo :p |
you want to what i want is that is if he show up and they act like they never saw him before or they act like they never met kaiser. i mean it be even more stupid them not reconising him. i mainly talking about Hikairi and Takeru more then the other.

I just realized: Wouldn’t Tri be a neat opportunity to tie up the whole Dark Spore thing with Daemon which kinda went nowhere in 02? Probably not happening since this seem to be more about Adventure than 02, but there is the Digimon Emperor again so…?
|
And the next 4 parts of Tri are out.
More of the same, the Digimon are still as amusing as ever, do remember to use spoiler tags. Won't even pretend I remembered Seven as a song, so not that nostalgic in that end, and well, these felt even more like episodes than a movie. Episode 5 was perfectly pointless, or at the very least mostly pointless, it'd have made no difference if they made the onsen part a single 5 minute sequence, there's some foreshadowing here and there and no more. 6 was pretty good! I love how they used Mimi as the element to tie everything together, from Joe's own doubts to getting to know Meiko better as well as the risk the Digimon present to the city, which goes back to the rift between Tai and Matt. Probably my favorite of the four, the ending was touching, and I quite liked how they animated the fight between Togemon and Ogremon. 7 was a continuation of the character arcs, and a lot of humor. Leomon-senpai was glorious, and I hope you find Meiko cute because the staff sure does. It reminds me of what I said about the last set of episodes, the Digimon are really amusing, maybe it's because they keep separating the Mon and Human parts, but the Digimon carry that old school humor most of the time and it is lovely. 8 is the obligatory fight episode. The Kaiser is in fact Ken, or at least everybody assumes so, Imperialdramon shows up, Palmon, Leomon and Gomamon have to fight him with no help because reasons. Mimi and Joe solve their problem in somewhat sudden but logical ways, there's no way Joe would put Gomamon at risk, so it makes sense. Always liked how of the original duos those two had the most differences. Their new evolutions sort of just happen and Izzy assumes they are related to a cryptic message he got, it seems to be character growth related once again. Zudamon and Lillymon don't get the short end like MetalGreymon in the past episodes and get new evolution sequences, I really, really like them. The digital egg evolutions of the past one are pretty meh for me, but these ones are great, Lillymon's is gorgeous. We get a brief but cool fight with requisite Brave Heart for hype, Imperialdramon goes down... rather easily, wether it was a fake or a side effect of it's state is never really told. Coming to think of it, everybody is either shellshocked or developed nerves of steel in this episode, because they don't bat an eye to anything, Ken being the Kaiser again, having to fight Imperialdramon, or even defeating him. Kari and Meiko are the ones that react the most to the cliffhanger too. Basically, it answered none of the 02 questions, which was the most exciting prospect of the trailers. The character scenes and comedy ones were still good, and it was enjoyable, but not the most exctiing set per se. But seriously, that Lillymon evolution sequence. |
I mean, I don't know...
This felt kinda padded and drawn out, kind of. Some pretty dang ordinary anime scenarios filling up the time in the first and third "episodes"...hot springs and school festival though, really?...I mean, it's stuff I wouldn't mind seeing briefly, but they spend quite a bit of time on it. It's not that it isn't fun, but they really spend way more time on character drama and talking about fighting than they do actually doing Digimon things. And, as a result, it feels like very little of real relevance happened. Most of it was in the last part, which also felt a little rushed. Few to no answers (besides cryptic yet obvious Meicoomon is causing it drop), as algo said no one seems to really think anything of Ken and Imperialdramon being there and so we get no 02 answers (also, early on Mimi is worried about hurting Ogremon but they didn't seem to have any qualms about straight up killing Imperialdramon...). And man, do they hate fights at tri or something? Zudomon and Lilimon got no time to shine, which is a shame. Transformations were very nice, but the actual fights were too brief and honestly just a tad confusing to watch. And the evolutions really came out of goddamn nowhere. So...yeah. Kinda wish they'd cut back on the hot springs and school festival parts a bit and expanded the climax and last part to have a cooler fight and some more darn answers or something. I did like how they did Jo's parts though. It was good. Also "hey Leomon gets to live...oh...guess not?" Not really sure what they really wanted to do with Leomon in this movie. And that sneaky Himekawa smile. So she's bad or something...? I have no idea what's up with that. The entire time hey were hammering in "she's actually nice!" and then at the end "or is she????" man, eh. Guess if nothing else (defs not answers) this movie at least gave me more questions... Also, was the fucking jiggle with Rosemon really necessary? Seriously, this kinda shit is exactly why I don't like Rosemon. Goddamn unnecessary. |
So before I watch it does the gang acknowledge they knew Kaiser before and knew it was Ken and they don't act like they never seen him before.

Hurray! We murdered our two Digimon friends!
|
How much of an asshole would I be if I said I don't care about Meicoomon?
Well, what is there for me to say? A lot, actually, but I didn't feel like composing my thoughts. I like the development for Joe and Mimi, easily the two characters with the least amount of love in Adventure (Mimi was loud, but she was also rather static, if I recall. She didn't really grow in the original series). So I'm glad we're looking more into them. Strangely, I thought Joe's story was going to be the more compelling one, but Tri manages to do the impossible and make me like Mimi more. I enjoy someone finally confronting her over her boisterous ways, striking her down for not considering all parties involved. I particularly enjoyed how she reacted. She didn't break down or just start apologizing to everyone, but she moved in a more realistic manner. She got angry, but she calmed down, and realized that she was in the wrong. Her recovery was quite nice, too, when she met up with Joe, who was going through his own problems (Obviously), where she got confirmation that she can be obnoxious. It was rather nice, and Mimi is easily proving to be my favorite character in Tri. Joe, Joe, Joe. Honestly, Joe's story felt a little weak. I understood why he was doing the things he does, don't get me wrong. Doubts over why he was chosen, stress over school and trying to become a proper adult, and even knowing how his friends would react when he finally does show up (I've made that same play by play in my head, too. I'm right there with ya, Jo). But it just felt like it was moving in circles until Gomamon left. I like the resolution of Joe fighting for his friend, rather than obligation as if it's his job or life to fight. Vikemon was hype. Rosemon would've been if not for Savers, since Savers kind of showcased everything Rosemon could do and more. Oh well, I will take ANY chance to see fuckface, I mean Imperialdramon lose ("But Maytricks, he was clearly taking a dive." Shut up. Give me this because these movies are about an hour longer than they need to be. Funnily enough, I actually thought the Perfect/Ultimate evolution was more interesting than the Mega/Ultimate evolution. Fighting was solid and the action was cool, if a little too laser-y for my tastes (Though Ogremon vs. Togemon was pretty fun). Goddammit, Leomon died again. It's gone from a funny coincidence to an intentional reference at this point... I like the humor the Digimon bring. They're quite fun to watch, and they break up the out of place drama quite nicely. The humor here was also rather fun. Koushiro's face after seeing Mimi in a cheerleader's outfit was beautiful, and the Digimon bugging Leomon to take them to the school fair was adorable (And so was Leomon's reactions to Meicoomon). The bathhouse scene was fun because it wasn't used for pointless reasons to have the girls nude, so I'm glad. Knife of Day is gone. World of the Knife is all that matters now. Am I missing anything? Oh yeah, Ken is back as the Digimon Kaiperor or whatever. We'll see where that goes. Also, Huckmon. Do something or get the fuck out. I'm serious. If I have another scene where it cuts to him just standing there ominously, then just cutting back to the cast for no reason, I'm going to scream. That all? I dunno, but god, this movie was a sit. I will say it was better than the first because it followed up on things and stuff actually happened, so it was more entertaining. However, while the jokes were more on point and the drama actually made me more invested, I still have a feeling of emptiness while watching Tri. I'm not enjoying things as much as I should be... |

I'm starting to think Toei using that trope for ken. I mean ken going back being Kaiser I still find it hard to believe so o think ken acting like he used to be to get close to main threat and the Davis working behind the scene know full well that veemon might die bit they need to go through with it to get main big bad trust just to keep close to him.
|
Judging from how he acted, my guess is that someone else is pulling the strings. I could be wrong, but meh.
Also, Mei's digivice glows black and red? Just when I thought she wasn't enough of a lame OC :lol |
So here's the poster for Kokuhaku, though uber blurry, along with some info.
So, we already knew it was Takeru's turn next, but I really expected Hikari to be the other kid since, you know, duh. But...Izumi, I guess. HeracleKabuterimon tho. Pretty cool. Patamon's still Patamon there but he's probably still just Seraphimon so whatevs. I can't make out what the red one is. Also, whaaaaaaat. Kokuhaku is going to be mellower than Ketsui? Ketsui??? The movie that spent half its runtime in typical SoL stuff? More...mellow? After that cliffhanger and everything????....???????? |
We don’t even know if it is Ken, like as in Ken deciding to be the Emperor again. It could be a fake puppet used by the one who defeated the 02 guys.
@Topic: It was okay. Not blown away by it. I accidently skipped Episode 7 and didn’t feel like I was missing anything which pretty much sums up what I hate most about this: 80% of it is completely unnecessary. I mean it’s cute and fun, I like Mei-Mei, but I don’t want to watch “Everyday Live with Digimon”. Because as funny and entertaining as it was, it also did nothing to answer our questions about what’s going on or who’s behind all this. I felt like I was watching filler episodes. The last episode was the best, Vikemon and Rosemon are great. Aside from Rosemon’s boob-jiggling. The cringe is over 9000. But they made their best effort to always portray Rosemon as a flower-whore in the past so no surprise they’re sticking with it. While I liked Mimi and Jo getting development, it only really worked with Mimi. Because Mimi had a setup (Togemon shooting the helicopter down) worked with it and had to face herself. With Jo it’s kinda like he’s always complaining and in the end he just decides not to anymore. Meh. The fight with Vikemon and Rosmeon against Imperialdramon(‘s illusion? Evil clone?) was cool, I liked their evolutions sequences, however I feel like the PSP Digimon game did it better by emulating the classic Warp Shinka sequence. Yes they didn’t Warp evolve, they’ve gone from Ultimate to Mega, but still. I feel like for a show that drives on nostalgia it doesn’t really work with nostalgia. Which is good because you don’t want to do all the same stuff again, but eh. Still feel like that was a missed opportunity. Story-wise it was horrible, as I said. It does absolutely nothing to develop the plot; we have to go with a magnifying glass over it to barely find anything useful. So Meicoomon is evil, or at least created evil or has a virus inside itself, we kinda expected that. Which means Alphamon was not evil, as I assumed form the first few episodes he wants to save the Digital World from the infection which most likely originates within Meicoomon. It only attacked the Digidestined after they attacked him, and he was after the infected Kuwagamon, so I doubt he’s infected. We still get to see nothing from the 02 guys, and I don’t think it’s Ken (the real Ken) being the Digimon Emperor, it’s probably a puppet or an illusion. However, the moment when Hikari saw Ken and asked “Why him again?” was pretty strong, it was lowkey but if you think back to what happened in 02 and how Ken fought with himself and had to be accepted within the group it was a good little scene IMO. So we end on a shitty cliffhanger as Meicoomon goes apeshit and kills Leomon. God damn guys, always Leomon. But hey, this is the universe where very Digimon gets reborn anyways (If Ogremon isn’t smashing eggs that is) so it’s not a big deal. Overall it was very entertaining, but more like watching filler. And it raised more questions than it answered, sadly. Quote:

However I hope they start going into the story more, because if we get another bunch of episodes that do nothing and then aren't even a bit more serious it would suck a lot. Good thing that we get more Mega's though, I expected they go for showing all of the Digidestined Mega forms one after another. |

Mellower?
Fucking awesome. These movies are already a chore for me to sit through, now the next one is going to move at a slower pace? Jeez, since it's focusing on Koshiro, it better have A LOT of Mimi, because I'm not kidding when I say that Mimi is the primary reason why I'm not bored to tears :lol Also, kudos, Tri. You made my least favorite Adventure character into easily the best Tri character :lol |

In all honesty the pairing makes sense given how they've been played so far. I hope mellower is in reference to Joe himself or that the character challenges will be less dramatic in nature. Because I can't survive a road trip or another random filler episode. |

And it's just more of an eye rolling moment. Which makes it all the better than one of them is part of her stock footage evolution sequence. Quote:
But who knows, maybe Koushiro has some inner turmoil that we just haven't gotten to address yet (Mimi's problems only arose after being confronted over her personality, after all). |

It's just a random guess anyways. |

The reason why Meicoomon is getting scorned is because her and Mei are our real main characters in what should be Adventure: 5 years later (Or 2 years or something...Whatever. I forgot how old they were in 02...).
So when you have Mei crushing on Taichi and basically immediately integrated into the group with an OG Digivice, and Meicoomon, a mysterious Digimon that is inexplicably linked to the strange virus, it really does feel more like a fanfiction rather than a continuation of the story. Also: I just hate breast jiggle. It's unnecessary, and really messes up with the tone of things. This isn't a beach scene. For more unnecessary Rosemon bouncing, watch Savers, specifically the Belphemon fight (I believe). She can't even turn her head without her breasts having a seizure. |
I mean, yeah, I get that to an extent, I guess I just think some of the complaints are kinda reaching. I don't see any particular parallels between Meicoomon and Tailmon, and her/his (What gender is even Meicoomon) Adult level is just a practical thing. Meiko having an old Digivice isn't really particularly noteworthy either, as 02 showed a ton of people have them.
I guess I haven't thought too much about Mei and Mei (their names are so similar tho there's gotta be something there, right...?) being essentially the main characters...I mean, she was barely in Saikai from what I remember, she did kinda have a central role in the slower parts of Ketsui, but that feels more like "spend some time properly introducing your new characters" focus than "here's your new mc" focus. I suppose I see how it can be seen as having fanfiction elements, but as a new installment in the series I guess I just see having at least some new characters as a natural thing. Having those characters be integral to the plot and creating new dynamics in the group is just a logical extension of that. But when I think about it, I guess we have spent more time getting to know Mei than with most of the original Aventure kids. Hm. Shrugs, man. Then again, with Meicoomon going crazy and bailing who knows how big a role (s?)he'll play in future installments. If she...he...it?'s in it as much as Alphamon and Imperialdramon were in theirs posters' movies, well, we sure won't be seeing a lot of...them. I suppose I may also be influenced by the fact that I just watched a really good anime in which Meiko's va voiced a main character, and man she does not get enough roles. Her voice may be sneakily making me like her. I dunno. But yeah, screw boob jiggle, but in this case specifically, even more than usual. And I was like, "hey they didn't use the hot springs for dumb fanservice, way to go tri" only for them to go "but with mons it's ok, right" later...eh. (i guess that is a spoiler?) And yeah, I started Savers a bit ago. totally looking forward to getting to Rosemon, and of course, Rosemon Boobst Mode -_- |
I don't agree with the Gato/Tailmon comparisons, but otherwise, I just can't really remove the thought of Mei just being something I'd think up during one of my Digimon marathons (Also, I'm pretty sure Meicoomon is a girl).
Mei isn't the crux of the plot, I'll give you that, but she has felt more of a vital character than anyone else. Even in the episode that was supposed to feature Joe prominently had more Mei than anyone else. Joe's revelations felt rushed because we needed Mei being a shy anime girl for half the movie. Also, I just feel that, with Meicoomon's recent reveal, that her role is going to grow from tagger on to a more predominant and active one, forcing herself into the spotlight. I could be entirely wrong and she'd just end up being just a prominent addition, rather than our true main character, but just using my knowledge of tropes and Digimon's penchant for weak twists, I have my doubts. Also, I'm not going to lie. Her digivice turning black with a red glow basically feels like something I'd see on Deviant Art, which is probably what painted her as the ultimate OC Donut Steal in my eyes :lol Also, have fun with Savers. Mercifully, Rosemon isn't one giant jiggle scene. Only during "Epic" fights (Where they get more "Dynamic" animation) is when she becomes eye-rollingly bad. |
Quote:
I don’t believe Leomon will stay dead. |
On the subject of Meicoomon in general though...it really can't be a coincidence that their names are so similar, right? They even shorten both their names to just "Mei" pretty often, and then there's Meicoomon being so unstable when left alone...I wonder if it's gonna be a thing like with Guilmon, where Meiko made up her own Digimon, except in this case it resulted in it being really messed up or something? And it's basically her imaginary friend so it can't function too well without her around or...something. One way or another, there's something weird going on with her, obviously...
...also, this is pretty random and unrelated, but was anyone else expecting them to alternate the ending visual between a picture of the guys and the girls? It's so weird that it's just Takeru, Yamato, Taichi and Izumi there the whole time. Even more so since it's Seven... |
after water part 2 i will say this hime-chan as i will call her i think actuley main villin i mean i could swear she smiled as soon as leomon died while every one shocked she smiled like she expected it and she always new from begining that meicoomon is source of every thing she even mention it. i plus them saying they have way to know where the ifected digimon popping up are going to be i think that hackmons doing. other then that i think hime-chan acting shocked bout ken and every thing she realy is the one that knew bout meicoomon and she could of been also the one that given mei meicoomon in the first place for her plan.
|
Quote:
There was also something going on with her talking to someone unknown, so I bet she knows something. I don’t think she's the main villain but she does help him in some way. We probably get a little back-story in the next part of how a Digimon killed her parents or something like that. |
