New Japanese trailer showing Mimikyu’s new Z-Move:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GaDodjA9j4 EDIT: US version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36rWUGQ84W8 |
Something is wrong with me because I see Mimikyu's z move and think tentacle rape. The internet has forever scarred me. :(

I must admit I still don't feel compelled to buy Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon. In a year with so many good games out there's no shortage of playing option whereas last year there weren't a lot of good games coming out on console I owned (albeit that was mainly 3DS and Wii U at the time) plus I was super hyped last year about a game that was significantly shaking up the Pokemon formula. Whereas this as a bonus game in the generation doesn't seem to appeal to me too much as the only use I'd see would be move tutors to expand Gen 7 Pokemon's movesets. Plus I think it's doing something like ORAS and imbalancing the metagame with the new additions.
I can see this game being essential for VGC players who will want the latest iteration of the metagame but personally I feel like waiting until Gen 8 comes out on the Switch. Albeit Gen 8 is going to be a real make or break game for Pokemon as they may have to change up the way some things work due to the slightly different nature of the Switch hardware. |

There was a special event at Toys R Us today for Pokemin and one of the things you could get was a buildable PokeBall. Really wanted that... but apparently they ran out lightning fast and I arrived too late. :(
Picked up another set so at least I have that to build, but still bummed out about the ball. |
Pokemon the movie i choose is heading to Disney XD 25th November

Been getting back to finishing playing Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon in preparation for the new games coming out the day after tomorrow. Well, the main story/game anyway. The Elite Four and Professor Kukui are certainly not to be underestimated especially the latter. I seriously love my teams.

It's nice to be the only person in the universe to ever pick Primarina, apparently :lol

My team will most likely be -Primarina -Dusk Lycanroc -Shiny Lurantis -Togedemaru -Alolan Marowak -Kommo-o |
I want to try and use a completely different team for Ultra Sun. So as much as I ended up loving Incineroar, I feel I should go with a different starter this time.
Won't be Primarina though, sorry. :P I meant to use one in my Sun playthrough, but somehow completely missed the only spot they can be found in, so a Turtonator will probably be my replacement fire type. Had too many fire types as it was anyway. Palossand was another cool one I didn't end up using, so will probably use on too. From there, it's pretty up in the air. I stuck exclusively to gen 7 Pokemon last time, so maybe this time I'll be more open and just take whatever sounds fun or interesting that I haven't used in a playthrough before. |
I was going to try out Primarina, but decided that since I almost never pick the fire starter I’m going to give Litten a go.
That leaves me needing a water type, any recommendations? Preferably an Alolan Poke, and not Golisopod as I did one last game. |

Out of all the water types of Alola, I would recommend Wishiwashi especially once you get it to level 20 for its Schooling ability. |
Right now I'm going to use Primarina and the Dragon who's name I can't remember.
Other than that I don't know who I'm going to use. |

Although now that someone's thrown Washiwashi into the mix that seems like a contender too... |
Well, Araquanid has a pretty similar statline to Golisopod, just weaker and Specially defensive instead of physical, so it's not that different.
Mareanie is a complete pain in the ass to get, as it only is encounterable as an SOS from a corsola, which is already a decently rare fishing encounter, and, as I said, it's a wall which honestly makes it really boring in SP. Wishiwashi is probably the most different from Gol because it can be a special attacker instead of a physical. |
Yeah I ran with an Araquanid in Sun until more or less replacing it with Golisopod. Really liked it, but did feel similar (aside from Golisopod's gimmick ability of course).
But sometimes gimmicks can be fun and I'm thinking now I'll use a Wishiwashi in this playthrough since I kinda just ignored it last time. |
I used an Araquanid in my playthrough of Pokemon Moon. It was the last Pokemon I added to my team and it's really good, the ability helps make up for it's lack of attacking power especially once it learns Liquidation, although it takes a while until it can get to that point. Still does a fair amount with Scald though.
Team was (with current levels): Kaepora/Decidueye Lv.100 Mickey/Alolan Raichu Lv.100 Oki/Lycanroc Midnight Lv.100 Biolizard/Salazzle Lv.100 Tediz/Bewear Lv.100 Blue Tektite/Araquanid Lv.100 Won't be playing Ultra Moon because I don't really want to shell out for a remastered version of a game I already own but I'll be following LPs of it and any team updates people might do here (if that is even a thing here) |
Toxapex is another Water option but it's such a pain in the ass to get them.
SOS chaining is among the worst features Pokemon has ever introduced. |
Man I'm happy and ticked off at the same time. I've been breeding Adamant Contrary Fomantis in Beast Balls trying to get a Shiny one to use in Ultra Sun. I give up after hatching well over 500 eggs and go to breed a Jangmo-o with a Hasty or Naive nature and after hatching 7 eggs, I get a Shiny one... Jangmo-o didn't even have either nature I was going for.
Had I just hatched 7 more eggs I probably would've gotten that Shiny Fomantis... |

Also yeah, I agree. It's stupid, and I hate it. Any word on a better way of EV training in these games, by the way? |
Well, if you have the right setup, I actually would say it's faster. I have a false swiping garchomp I use. Apply EXP share, Pokerus and Macho brace on intended trainee, False swipe appropriate mon, pop an adrenaline orb and knock out about 8 mons and you're done. Really quick if you know what you're doing.
Still, until they come up with a method for obtaining HA Pokémon that have a more passive ability, I'm still refusing to forgive the loss of the SearchNav. |
I don't know what I'm doing, though.
|
Got my games! Now to soft reset for ages until I get a Female Popplio with a good nature LOL!
|
I got a female Popplio on my first try. :D
|
Today marks the end of an era.
|
Not gotten to play much, but man I am loving some of the Pokemon you can catch early on. Noibat after your first Trial?! Yes please! And apparently you can get a Larvitar pretty early in the game too? Nice.
Team so far: Athene - Dartrix, Lv. 17 Abeloth - Inkay, Lv. 14 Dotti - Buneary, Lv. 14 Tesla - Grubbin, Lv. 14 Pichu - Lv. 14 Chirox - Noibat, Lv. 10 Obviously a lot of that's going to change, but the range of generation representation is pretty cool. Story's been nearly identical so far which is kinda lame, but I do like that the Ultra Recon guys are involved from the very beginning. |
OK, Nintendo, is it REALLY so hard for you to grasp the concept of "optional tutorials?"
Just have the professor/companion/whoever ask "Do you want me to show you how to catch a Pokemon?" Not everybody likes the blatant handholding you have insisted on for TWENTY YEARS. |
