To be fair it's a beloved classic they could simply try to remaster and introduce to new fans, it's simply called Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution iirc

I'm mostly excited because the appearance of Greninja mean that it's not just a giant Gen 1 wankfest.

Yeah, given the way things have gone recently (and the games coming out this week...) I was afraid that this would be yet another Kanto wankfest, but there's actually a lot of later gen Pokemon. In addition to Greninja, there's Bouffalant, Braviary, Flabebe, Comfey, Pancham, Emolga, Audino, Rufflet, Morelull...and I think Aipom? Even Golurk. It seems more balanced than I'd expect, and that's just for the Pokemon that actually appear physically, stuff on signs and other stuff also draws from the entire series. I'm into it, that alone gives me hope.

And really, I don't hate the aesthetics. It's not something I'd ever want the games to look like, but for a standalone movie I think it works. They don't actually stray too much from their normal designs, which I appreciate. It looks like it could be a fun movie.

All of the realistic Pokemon fan art that people have made from 10-15 have become real. I still have a hard time thinking this is real.

Giving it a bit of time, I'm actually on board. I like that it's just set in the Pokemon universe. None of that wormhole bullshit, it's just...A story set in the Pokemon world.

I don't like the decision to have the main character be the one person who shuns Pokemon. Literally living in a universe where you can have a pet dog that's also as large as you and can breathe fire, without having to go through a sea of paperwork or whatever, and he's just "Nah fam. Fuck Pokemans." But otherwise, I like the designs (To an extent. I never imagined Jigglypuff to be...Fuzzy), and I like that the Pokemon can only say their names. I'm down. Will it be good? No fucking clue, but I'm not against it.

Aside from a few of them looking like downright nightmare fuel(Psyduck in particular is downright terrifying) it actually looks better than what I was expecting.

It's cute, I wouldn't mind seeing this. Maybe not in theatres, but definietly once it hits online streaming. I'm also not sold on Jigglypuff having fur texturing.

This looks good and not another white wash trash like Godzilla 2014 and Ghost in the Shell live action was.

It'd be pretty difficult to white wash Pokemon considering every region past Gen 3 takes place outside of Japan :lol

I always imagine a live-action Pokemon would be a total disaster, but it seems like a lot of people are hype up for it.

It helps that they're not going with any of the main games nor anime's plot. The detective Pikachu plot is a lot more inclusive, without having to worry about nonstop "WHO'S THAT POKEMON!?" stuff, as well as gym battles.

It also helps that they actually got people that seem to know what they're doing involved.

The trailer definitely left a good impression on me.

No offense, but i think that sun and moon season is pretty weak compared to the last seasons.
