I say Carnival Phantasm. The Fate parts are really funny especially the holy grail war race.

Would I need to know much more about the other Type Moon works to really enjoy it, though? I only know Fate.

The only other type-moon show you can watch before Carnival Phantasm is Tsukihime. Any other type-moon stuff shown is sometimes from the computer games. (For example, Melty Blood which is a 2D fighting game that is a sequel to the Tsukihime visual novel.) Besides that one show, that's pretty much it.

I don't really have a worst genre personally. I do however have a worst anime, and it's made me quite unpopular with some of my friends.
