Her simply dying is not interesting. Avatar has shown that it can handle death as Matrix and I have pointed out in just a few examples. What makes it more interesting is why she chose to disappear. Think about it, if she was murdered, the story is straightforward enough. Ozai is evil, and she was good and Zuko should have revenge. But she ran, implying she had something to do with the plot, that there was more than meets the eye.

That is also why she was a more interesting character than Warren McGinnis. I am not saying this was the only way they could have done the story, I am merely saying that explicit death is not the only plot-line a show can use.

I guess so, debating can't go on forever. :p

Solomon Grundy died and that was pretty significant. Most other deaths, if they were for significant characters, left clear room for return.

You, and thousands of others, praise Avatar but that doesn't change that it did nothing for me.

I love Shounen anime already and Japan doesn't have nearly the same limitations in telling its stories, so I'd rather watch those. Or American animated series who recognise their limitations and work around them to better their shows. Even Alien Force had more mature story telling and better stakes than Avatar.

And as much as you can tell me Avatar did that and go into a scene I remember nothing about because I've long since forgotten about the show as I cared nothing for it, I didn't feel Avatar did at the time, which is why I gave up on it and haven't watched it again since.

How?

Romance was actually realised. There was cause and effect and consequence. Actual stakes and tension.

I don't have a problem with you not liking Avatar, really, I don't. But it seems that you just choose to ignore what happened in Avatar just because "It didn't show me this guy getting burned to death, so it's kiddy."

I guess all the good stuff happened in season three then, oh well. I still downright refuse to sit through two seasons of utter shite to get to 'the good bit' especially if I might not even like it. From my experience of the two seasons I forced myself through it was no better than 4kids One Piece and I physically couldn't take another season of this overrated garbage.

Like I said, there's nothing wrong with disliking the show, but your reasoning is just factually wrong. People die. Actions have consequences. Romances are more than just "They kind of sorta maybe like each other." And a lot of this occurs, or are at least set up, in seasons 1 and 2, not just 3.

Much like how I'm free to despise Decade, you're free to loathe Avatar, but your statements seem like you watched for 5 minutes then just tuned out the remaining 15 for each episode you watched.

To be fair I probably did, I was about as engaged with this show as I am with those videos we watched in science at school.

At the very least, you could watch Doug Walker's Vlogs on the series. He's recently finished the first season, and he does a really good job detailing what happened in the episode and why he did or did not like it. They usually range from 9-12 minutes, so it shouldn't be too time-consuming.

I will say this, early Alien Force did feel like it had tension and an over-arching story. It also felt like a continuation of Ben as a character—he's cooled off, grown up, and moved on, but he still will get the job done. After the Highbreed story, though, the show got annoying. I haven't gotten around to watching Omniverse in its entirety, but I did like what I saw.

I really want nothing to do with it honestly. I gave it a chance. I didn't enjoy it. I have so much to watch and so much I am enjoying, why waste my time on something I dislike?

I'm already using Doug's view on Power Rangers to enjoy MMPR for the first time in about twenty years.
