It might've helped the story if we'd understood Kaitou's backstory a little better (why did he think forcing people into a reeducation camp was better than having magic bugs injected into their brains?) via further flashbacks, but that just feeds into the bigger problem of trying to create all of this backstory for Kaitou -- and resolve it -- in about 40 minutes. More context would be great! Maybe in some earlier stories!

I did! But Kai was (to me) commenting on vague endgame villains, while Narutaki is a vague full-series villain. Narutaki isn't really saying anything about how toku series can derail emotional threads with ever-escalating villainous schemes, and he's also been a total mystery for 23 out of 31 episodes. Different thing.

But they are different colors, right? I-- I did manage to get one part correct? I don't got a lot to go on when it comes to Sentai! I'll probably feel a little more on the ball once they get to their train.

They do have a robot squid though. That plays an important role in the crossover, even!

The show right before Shinkenger had trains added to their arsenal later on, but like GuardianAngel87 said, the train-centric sentai was years later. Oh yeah, and both that show and Shinkenger are written by our fair Kobayashi. :rock:

And the very person wrote that particular two-part crossover with Decade and Shinkenger, incidentally.

GoGoV is the earliest Sentain I am aware of that had a train, and it was years before this.

Could be an earlier one, but I can't think of it if so.

No train, but they do have special armored suits for when they pilot their mechs.
