A bit off topic, but the statement kind of reminds me of an alleged cut joke/dialog I heard about the 2017 PR movie:
- There was (allegedly) supposed to be a scene where Zack initially wants to pilot the Pterodactyl Zord because it's described as the high speed flying one, but he rescinds when it's revealed what color the ranger has to be.

I'm gonna regret this, but many aspects of sci-fi and pop culture have been "political" or allegorical for generations. However, it's become obvious to me that many NEVER looked at sci-fi in this regard! I've seen 60-somethings who looked at Star Trek: TOS back in its original heyday when the NBC of the '60s had it, but they clearly never got any of the messages or the metaphors and saw it more as an action-adventure series in space made solely to entertain.

Human Society is becoming more aware and understanding and diverse and accepting. The art will weave in-and-out, with those that do the right thing and reflect the change and those that exist "solely to entertain" and those who genuinely can't accept change.

I had the chance to see some former PR actors at a convention and they misinterpreted a question about the original Mighty Morphin' Movie and thought it referred to the 2017 Movie... and stated that it came across as "too political"! I felt as though they were looking at it from one standpoint and effectively missing the main point!

Everything is "political" in some form or another! Stories involving war, regardless of the reasoning or background, are "political" in some capacity. Even those "old harmful stereotypes" and "positive change".

Strictly from a design and aesthetic perspective, I think the color pink and its adjacent hues have been excellent choices for the non-female heroes from Toei that donned it so far. That said, I like Kiji Brother design-wise and as a character. I just love how he's Toei's Leito aka Ultraman Zero host from Geed. :lolol

The difference between having politics in stories and progressive politics is that in progressive politics, virtue singling overtakes telling a story. Why do you think entertainment in Japan (games, anime, manga or in this case toku) is gaining a foothold in the west? Because people want entertainment and having a good time and enjoy something, having fun. Not be lectured at and get insulted for not liking something. Plus if you let activists write your stuff, it's gonna be garbage, just like what happened with Star Wars, Star Trek and Marvel Comics. They hire writers that know nothing about, or outright hate, the thing they're writing for, and boy does it show. They have no passion for what they are writing, and that's the key word, passion, plus effort. That's not to say certain in Japan has bad stuff, but at least the focus is on entertainment, not virtue signalling.
I'm probably gonna get kicked out for this, but I don't care.
I went to toku to get away from the recent western garbage in entertainment, but if they say they're getting influenced by the west, sooner or later it's going to be unwatchable, I will never accept it.

Well, I do know that Todd Phillips, the guy behind the Hangover movies and the recent Joker movie, feels he can't make comedies anymore because of snowflakes complaining about everything. Creators can't express themselves fully anymore without the fear they might offend someone. They're walking on eggshells these days.
