So I watched Gokaiger Volumes 6 and 7 and then the ghost ship movie. There are some truly incredible episodes in those two volumes such as the Hurricanger and Black Condor ones.
The ghost ship movie remains less than stellar, but it still does have some really cool moments in it. Now I just need to remember where the Gavan movie takes place (I think its right before 47). |

Yosh! Gekiranger just finished downloading!
|
I'm with Matrix, I can't wait to start Geki tomorrow.
|
Just watched episode 2 of Akibaranger. It was, interesting to say the least :lol
|
I just finished the 8th volume to Gokaiger. I love the fight against Basco in the OhRanger episode when he wins in the end. That is so awesome and not something you get to see that often.
I also think the AbaRanger episode is down right hysterical. In fact, one of the things I love about a lot of the guest star episodes is that they try to make it feel like an episode from that series. BTW, this is something I have always wondered but forgot to bring up until now, but does anyone else find it odd how Toei did AbaRanger? I mean, there is the prelude, the opening song/credits, both parts of the episode, closing credits/song, ending to episode, then previews. It is also annoying that they never bothered to give the series proper chapter stops on their DVDs. |
Gaoranger continues to blow my mind. Why the hell has no one recommended this show before? Rouki has gone as one of the best villains a show could have and he's now turned into one of the best 6th rangers I can remember as Shirogane. The characters are all so richly developed, the villains are not only threatening but downright funny half the time. Tseu Tsue and Yabaiba are easily my favorite lackey villains ever.
|
I can tell you why.
People think Wild Force is bad, so they just avoid the source material entirely, thinking the envionmentalist message will be just as heavy handed. |
I didnt think all that much of Gaoranger to be honest.
Much like how I feel about Wild Force, it isn't bad by any means. But at the same time outside of Rouki and the mecha I didn't think it was particularly good either. It was just...there. |
I'm not watching something. I am WORKING on something.
:) |
I like GaoRanger, but it could be because it was my very first Sentai series I watched. It isn't in my top 10 at all, but I do think it fares better than a great deal of the stuff that came after it.

Ehhh, I was never the biggest fan of Gao/Wild Force. It always seemed a tad weird to me, especially when trying to keep up with all of the mecha. Then again, it has GaoSilver, and he's a bad ass.

As for the villains, Tsuetsue and Yabaiba are great but the generals really bored me. I was never really fond of the "facial feature" trend they have design-wise either. Glad you're enjoying it though! It does seem like an often forgotten series even though its an anniversary one. |
It's that time of the week again...Kakuranger 11!
Rag loving monster. Okay. Talking mirror that's never explained and only appears once. Weird, but okay. Seikai's met a girl he wants to impress. Way to ignore Tsuruhime after confessing your love for her cheeseburger, Seikai. Seikai steals the Kakuranger's clean cloths to impress said girl and I can't help but wonder when they ever wear those cloths. Seikai trying to sell secondhand boxers...:lol Sorcery. Rag Revolt! :lol The American tries to lasso the Yokai. This isn't stereotypical at all. :rolleyes The Yokai's goal is to shut down secondhand stores. Why does this sound like something a Captain Planet villain would do? Pretty good action this episode...except the Kakuranger Ball is still lame. I think Storyteller is holding a diaper while talking about how usful reusing things is. Eww. Next week: Juusho Fighters (aka Battle Borgs)! EDIT: If the Yokai's human form looks familiar, he played DoraSphinx's human form too. |
So, we starting Lets Watch today?

Yayyyy!!!

Kaku 11.
Wow. Seikai is a total jerk. Do the Japanese have a Yokai for every minor thing? And OMG RAGS! Oh, and I'm convinced the only other series that has Kaku beat on individual mech fights has to be Go-Buters now. Kakure Ball is dumb. Please stop using it. And yay! Battle Borgs show up! I can't wait! |
These descriptions you guys are giving might help, I'm planning on buying the full season at some point.

I don't think I talked about Gekiranger episodes 10 and 11. Ran gets the Geki Hammer (Why does Japan refer to ball and chain weapons as hammers?). Elephant dude is Master Roshi. I would've much prefered him as the main mentor than the Kitty trying (and failing) to be Mr Miyagi.
Episode 12 (I like Kakuranger, I'll be doing this as I watch): Belly flop monster. Eh, I kind of remember him in JF. I find him kind of dumb in both. That's clever, Kitty and the Overlord use a mirrored pharse for training back to back. "In life there is training" vs "in deadly combat there is training." Clearly this Overlord subscribes to the Sayian style of training. :p Yay! Elephant Roshi at the bath house. This is gonna be fun! Is Jan the Leo of Sentai? He can't seem to keep his shirt on. Towels are magic in this. Okay. Rio's training is...becoming a Phantom? Okay, it's already more interesting than Wizard anyways. Black blood. I'm guessing even Japan thought that one was to violent to keep red. Elephant Roshi is stealing the fly's job this episode. I'm actually okay with this. I think my hate for the fly comes from the fact that he can't move when on screen. Fly can't emote at all while Elephant Roshi (and bath house guy) can at least show some emotion in his reaction shots. It's settled, Rio needs to be in Wizard. He devours depair. He sure would at least make it less boring. Boy, I'm making a lot of pot shots at Wizard tonight... Last shot of the episode includes Rio making insane eyes. Next time: Bat! He's hoping I can make his nickname as good as easy to remember as Kitty Miyagi and Elephant Roshi because I ain't gonna remember his real name. |
Killing time by watching Super Sentai World. Now this is how you do a mindless crossover. No convoluted plot, just 5 teams answering the call to stop some villains. Does it make sense? No, but there's easy explanations to come up with if needed. Does it waste my time trying to make sense? No, it's less than 10 minutes long. That's an awesomely mindless crossover.

I just finished Dairangers a couple days ago and it is very good. Probably my favorite Super Sentai series so far. Now, I'm currently watching Kakuranger and already on its 5th episode. The series so far is, well, a bit weird but not bad overall. My favorite characters so far are Tsuruhime and Jiraiya. Also, I really do wish there's more english subbed episodes for this series as well as all of the Ohranger series. :(

I love 90's sentai as well but I can only handle it on a weekly basis. It's just so hard for me to marathon that stuff.
On a related note am I the only one having audio sync issues with Kakuranger? |

Today I've watched 18-21 of Boukenger, and started GoGoV, watching the first 2 episodes.
I'm also following Bioman, Maskman, and Megaranger. I've been downloading Kakuranger and Carranger, too... but haven't started them, yet. |

We have already had this argument a few pages back, time to move on. So I watched Volumes 10 and 11 of Gokaiger today. The only episode out of these 10 episodes I can say that is pretty lackluster is the clip show episode that forces you to watch because of Ninjaman and Tsuruhime's cameo. Outside of that, these episodes were awesome. Everything with Basco is pure gold, especially his betrayal towards Damaras, however, it is the TimeRanger episode that truly shines in my eyes. The fact that they cleverly wrote the episode to fit the rangers' appearance in the Goseiger vs Shinkenger movie was nothing short of pure excellence. I also cannot begin to comment how much I wish the Barizorg vs Joe fight had been a tad longer because of how great it was. Secondly, I also watched the final two episodes of Go-Buster and all I can say is good riddance. Episode 49 was just as great as the last several episodes, but the finale was extremely rushed. The ranger's final role call was just blown through at the speed of light, Enter went out on a whimper as he did not even get to have an actual final battle with the rangers, it was all just effects, and the epilogue during the credits felt extremely disjointed. Too much was trying to be shown. And what were they celebrating? Was it Yoko graduating something? Overall, the show was a total let down and is probably a series I will never watch again. There were times I would rather be watching Goseiger than this. The first 10 episodes were quite good, and then the last 10 episodes were decent. Everything else in between ranged from total suckage to subpar. The ranger cast was quite bland, had very little development, Escape was nothing more than fan service, Messiah was a total waste, the Buddyroids were pointless, and the commander and his two lackeys were absolutely useless. Most of all, the show seem to have absolutely no energy at all in it. The first opening theme probably had the most energy put into the show, everything else was just sucked away in a bland boring limbo. I give Go-Buster a 2/10 and it is definitely one of the worst Sentai series I have ever seen. Let's hope Kyoryuger is vastly superior and brings energy, character development, and fun back into the show. |
Just finished the final volume of Gokaiger and all I can say is this series was truly excellent. I am so glad I spent the last week rewatching it all as now I am pumped and ready for Kyoryuger. I love the final fight with Basco, but I also love how much the rangers just wailed on the emperor in the final episode. Overall, I give the series an 8/10.
Anyway, Jetman is most likely going to be my next series, but first, a short Hitman Blood Money HD break... |
