Optimus resumed the leadership and stayed on without transitioning to anyone else in Rebirth.

Headmasters had Convoy (Optimus) as the initial leader, but he sacrificed himself and leadership took a step back to Rodimus, who kept it until Cybertron was destroyed and then he passed it to Fortress (Cerebros), but it was more of a title transition cause Rodimus kept the Matrix! That's a noteworthy trend in the Japanese Continuity... the Cybertron (Autobot) "Supreme Commander" doesn't necessarily carry the Matrix, but they carry a title and primary leadership roles. And none of that begins to cover the power play between Galvatron and Scorponok!

We also never said that Rebirth DIDN'T have Headmasters! The story and the origins are what make the two incompatible with each other! The US also has more than one origin myth for the Headmasters cause both Rebirth and the Headmasters cartoon are incompatible story-wise with Marvel US (and by default, Marvel UK)!

Where does Trans Formers Prime take place in continuity?

It's its own continuity. It's part of the Aligned continuity, encompassing Prime, Robots In Disguise (2015), and technically two video games: War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron. The video games are largely intended to be prequels to Prime, but offer just enough contradictions to be considered nebulously canonical.

You're not wrong! I love that Hasbro made up this huge binder of background details, and almost every participating studio only looked at maybe 25% of it. Huge entries on the Wiki trying to make sense of completely different scenes between games and books and TV shows, until eventually everyone went They're Not One Story.

Ah, sorry for the misunderstanding. If you're referring to thr trilogy starting with Exodus, those are also a separate thing from G1. The first book is a loose adaptation of the War for Cybertron video game, which was inspired by G1 but took place in the aforementioned Alligned continuity. The second and third books tell an original story that leads into the lore of that universe that's hinted at in Prime and significantly covered in the Covenant of Primus book. The Netflix War for Cybertron is another separate thing inspired by the G1 Cartoon but not directly compatible with it. The Netflix War For Cybertron does take place within the greater G1 family of universes though, like the IDW comics or the 80s Marvel comics.

A red Skids redeco has in fact become a thing in the Masterpiece line, so I'd say there's a fair chance Generations Selects will do it too!

I watched More Than Meets The Eye Part 1. Now I hold on Headmasters. I'm watching the original 98 episodes first. I will need to finish The War For Cybertron now regardless of time line.

I picked up Reboost about 2 months ago, and damn I'm still in love with it! It's such a solid figure that doesn't try to overcomplicate things. I wish we could get a MP Bumblebee 3.0 with this design philosophy in mind.

I placed my order for Trans Formers The Movie (1986) set before Series III. The delay in this case is fine as I'll be on Series II when I get it. I finished More Than Meets The Eye Parts 1 - 3. In 2023 I want to start filling in everything Beast Wars forward. I'll be on Super God Master Force in Spring 2023. Never mind continuity. I'm watching them in order of release. Headmasters - Victory will be next.

Studio Series '86 Arcee! They had one at my Target.

I can't do comparison shots with Thrilling 30 Arcee cause I never got it, but I can do a comparison with the dreadful War For Cybertron version, though it will be awhile and most will be in robot mode cause WFC Arcee has a useless vehicle mode!

I may wait till the 1st to grab Trans Formers Prime next for October. I saw the opener on Netflix and it looked great so I want to add Trans Formers Prime to my DVD library. I had wanted to check it out first.

On another note however Prime is at least full on CG unlike Cybertron when they went hybrid with that series. That was annoying.

Cause the Arcees of Energon/Superlink and Prime are NOT the same continuity as G1! Alternate Modes can differentiate across continuities/timelines/universes. The OG Susan Blu Arcee is NOT the later Motorcycle Arcees, and Energon/Superlink Arcee is different from Prime Arcee and all Arcees are different from Bayverse/Movieverse/Revenge of the Fallen Arcee!

Given we've had 4 TMNT series in Anime that makes sense. Both Power Rangers and TMNT have played off the endless dimensions angle. Wes said Power Rangers exist in all dimensions making Trans Formers a bit confusing from that angle. TMNT G III managed to clear up the confusion in Trans Dimensional Turtles and Wanted Bebop and Rocksteady. The G II movie Turtles Forever helped make alternate coninuity make sense.

Yyyyes and no. I recall that North American vendors weren't able to carry it directly through Hasbro/Takara, but nothing's stopping them for importing it and selling it that way. Like, Hasbro could've gotten sued for selling it, but a vendor at a con wasn't going to get sued. Too small potatoes.

Finished Trans Formers The Movie (1986) and it looked to be it's own thing. I saw a behind the scenes clip on upscale restoration for it and dang the clean up was a nightmare. I suspect that Shout Factory had some trouble reworking the series as it was seen on TV but they even kept the Transformers bumpers at the break. In the G1 episodes when does Optimus Prime meet his end? I'll be starting Series II soon.

The movie isn't it's own thing, it's in continuity with the G1 cartoon. It takes place between seasons 2 and 3

How in the name of Alpha Trion did you perceive the '86 Movie as a standalone piece!?

In any event, anyone who bridges Season 2 and 3 with the Movie will notice a plethora of inconsistencies!

Many later Season 2 characters won't appear in the Movie cause of the time between production and release regarding both the Movie and the Series.

The animation in Season 3 will have some pretty glaring dips in quality with Akom handling a good chunk of it. The original series as a whole used Toei, Akom, and at least one more unidentified studio. This is also where the continuity starts to splinter. Headmasters is Toei, while Akom did Rebirth.

Debates and fan theories regarding the Movie over the years have been extensive. Is Brawn dead? Which 'Con became Cyclonus? Why are there so many Cyclonus and Sweep units depicted in Season 3 when the Movie only shows a handful? What the hell does Unicron mean "...and his armada!"? Where the hell is Snarl?

Season 3 was also largely in the pipeline by the time the Movie was set. As such, there are inconsistent uses of outdated character models and a reliance on early drafts of the Movie in Season 3.

The Movie also helps to make the Japanese G1 Continuity a convoluted mess cause the Movie wasn't released in Japan at the same time as the US. Scramble City was the bridge between Seasons in the Japanese Continuity. As such, characters who should be dead appear throughout from Headmasters onward. Prime's fate is also depicted much differently. This ultimately led to extensive use of time-travelling, dimension-hopping, and retcons on top of retcons which are sprinkled with more retcons and seasoned with more retcons.

None of this should detract from the enjoyment of the Movie, though the Movie isn't by any means perfect.

Japan wiped this triple parter and totally re did the plot as the first 3 episodes of The Headmasters. Hasbro was considering Series IV already but hadn't happened.

The re worked Rebirth was made as a new opening story in Japan who did do a full year with Headmasters.

I'm begging you to understand Toei didn't "redo" The Rebirth, it and The Headmasters were made by completely seperate production teams based on the toys.

Rebirth CANNOT be a reworked Headmasters cause Headmasters predated Rebirth! The toys themselves are indicative of this.

Japan would eventually release Rebirth, but in a transliteration that fits more with the West than with the Japanese G1 Continuity, which is its own convolution!

My man, I've said this before, please look at TFWiki. I have no idea where you're getting any of your ideas about Transformers continuity, but TFWiki will have actual information and answers to all of your questions.

Much of this condemnation ultimately stems from Wikipedia and the criticisms from academia, but academia has all but lost that conflict. You can't use it in a paper, but it's good enough to refine your research. However, most of the Wikia/Fandom pages are bonafide garbage cause they're poorly written, poorly organized, and contain one too many ads and links to the most mind-numbing of all the click-bait available. The TFWIKI is devoid of most of this! Some hate they're sarcasm and endless pop-culture references, but I think it's cute and ignore the whiners.

That much is clear, but I think Akiba latched onto your line of "actual information and answers" and ran with it. The video post seems to be an obvious swipe at TFWIKI's veracity and legitimacy. It could also be sarcasm on Akiba's part and I might have stupidly taken it too seriously (which I have a notorious tendency to do)!

My interpretation was that it was in response to Fredbob saying "I have no idea where you're getting your info," implying that the bad info was just made up.
