The recent blowup of family memes really only makes me wonder where people have been for the past like, four movies.
While I don't dislike the modern films, I am a bit sad that the more grounded stylings of the first movie was completely thrown out. |
I think I've hit a toku burnout, at least show-wise.
Trigger was mainly fun in the same way you watch a fire, and... yeah, I'm gonna stop for a bit. How's everyone else holding up? |

That said, just realized Michael Rooker was in the recent movie. |

Trigger's not very much impressing me the same way Z did, but I'd like to see it through anyway. Zenkaiger is just fine for me as well. It takes a while for me to get to the episodes, but I want to commit and see it through as well. I don't entertain dropping shows. Just wish maybe they'd up the stakes a bit and get some more focus on stuff I like. Mainly anything Stacey lol. Saber, well, you can already tell how I feel. |

Toku is definitely in a weird place for me right now? Sentai the past few years has been amazing for me, with Zenkaiger going even further than that into being one of my favourite Toku ever...! And then after Z was excellent, Trigger has been very lukewarm for me thus far; and on the Kamen Rider end the entire Reiwa era has been the most frustrating the franchise has ever been -- and I have my hopes for Revice but the whole VA situation there is threatening to ruin that as well. If it wasn't for Zenkaiger I'd be wondering if I was suffering some burnout too with how little I'm getting out of Saber and Trigger.
I've at least been having fun watching past stuff! Amazons, Kamen Rider, Tiga, Abaranger, Dynaman, Timeranger... my Ghost rewatch too has made me realise a lot of love for a show I'd previously disregarded! This has in fact been a super good year for me as far as past Toku has been concerned, but actual current stuff is a bit of a wash outside of Sentai. I'm really hoping Revice and Trigger can turn things around |
I've been working through non-airing too, which... may not have helped with the burnout. I blew through Geed, Z, X and Ginga in 4-5 months and Ginga S just halted me on the second episode.
I should hunt down a place to watch Sentai, |
Oh I should probably mention, when I say toku burnout, I meant that I'm tired of keeping up with the latest shows. There's a lot of old goodies out there. When I'm not procrastinating in watching it, Boukenger has been some nice fresh air for me.
So yeah, not really that I have toku burnout per se, just that I'm tired of keeping up with the latest releases. It's just so nice to be able to step back and watch something at one's own pace, you know? |

I dropped Zenkaiger entirely because boring, I stopped watching Saber because meh, I didn’t even watch the third episode of Trigger yet because I’m not really feeling it. Turns out a legacy series made to heavily cash in on a past show I couldn’t care less about doesn’t work for me. I would rather just watch Ultraman Z again. And Revice is just... nah. Nothing about it seems interesting to me; the only thing that stuck around is feeling uncomfortable whenever Vice is on screen. No thank you. I did watch a few episodes of Saber today because I do want to finish it, and it wasn't bad. The Desast-stuff especially is really cool. But I don’t feel any excitement for it; it’s just happening while I’m sitting in front of the screen. I feel like I’m at an all time low when it comes to interest in Toku. Although I do have some treats in store, finishing the latest season of Thunderbolt Fantasy for example, I'm looking forward to that. When everything else fails, the Urobuchi-Muppets are there to save the Toku-day. |
