Demos are starting to come out and reports are that Link has an alt costume!

That is freaking epic. Majora's Mask remains my favourite game ever made.

Alph is also in the demo, so that basically confirms the Koopalings too. Meta Knight also has an alt: "Galactic Knight". I don't play Kirby much though, so I'm not sure the significance.

On the bad side, I had to roll my eyes at the fact that King Dedede gets a new Final Smash. Peach? Sheik? Link? Toon Link? Bowser? Donkey Kong? Mario? Keep your shitty Final Smashes. Pit? Kirby? Dedede? Definitely need new ones. Can't wait for the reveal that Meta Knight got a new one too. Sakurai's bias never ceases to amaze.

Yeah, it's pretty lame that Dedede is getting a new Final Smash while the characters who really need new ones, such as the ones you mentioned, are stuck with their crappy ones. Honestly though I don't really like Final Smashes to begin with, I always turn them off.

That alt costume news is fantastic though. I suspected Meta Knight might get a Galacta Knight alt, and Fierce Deity Link is awesome, that's such a great design. I hope Link is actually a viable character this time though...I want to use him more, but he's always been terrible. :(

Peach is also confirmed to not have Daisy as an alt.

That's really lame, tbh.

Wire Frame Mac is apparently different from a normal alt, in that any of his 8 alts can be "Wire-Frame" , meaning Little Mac has 16 Alts over the regular 8.


EDIT: Fierce Diety is not an alt, its simply a color swap that gives him his Fierce Diety facial markings and stuff. Boo.
I also haven't found any really good confirmation on Galacta Knight either. Alph is definitely in the game though, heaps of people who have played the demo are confirming him. Fox also has Wolf colors and Pikachu adds the Gold/Silver Hero and the X/Y Hero to his costumes. Shiny Charizard is in it as well, but not Shiny Lucario. Peach has Shadow Queen colors.

Ok, so here are the interesting reveals from the Japanese Toys R Us demo. I streamlined some of the new info from my posts to get the interesting stuff:

-Alph is confirmed as Olimar alt (pretty much confirms Koopalings too)
-Announcer changes to say "Alph" instead of "Olimar".
-Link has Fierce Diety Colors. Not new costume, but gives him Fierce Diety's eyes and facial markings along with a Fiercy Diety esque color swap
-Peach has Daisy, Fire Peach and Shadow Queen colors, neither are new costumes
-Pikachu has X/Y and G/S Hero hats
-Charizard has G/S Shiny Charizard, not modern Shiny Charizard
-Charizard has Purple colors.....
-Both Lucario and Greninja have approximations of their Shiny Colors, but not perfect
-Little Mac has 4 normal colors, 4 hooded colors, 4 wire frame normal colors, 4 wire frame hooded colors, resulting in 16 colors
-Ike's flames are now blue
-Fox has a Wolf palette swap
-Metaknight is nerfed compared to Brawl

Do you remember Pit and Dedede's final smashes? They were practically useless. Of all the characters you listed, the only one I agree with is Donkey Kong's. Other than that, if I were to choose characters who need new, more effective final smashes, Pit and Dedede would have been at the top of my list.

Both had interesting, character specific Smashes. Pit's is fine because Paluntena is a character now, but Dedede's... No. No reason for the change.

Link has hundreds and hundreds of items he's used in his past, all of which could make awesome and unique Final Smashes. Hell, Fierce Deity would've been an epic Final Smash! Instead he gets a useless ability, he's never used before. And not only that, they shoved it on Toon Link too. Peach has an insanely ridiculous and silly Final Smash that, again, she has never done before. Mario has been in thousands of games and has many, many potentially awesome and character-specific smashes. Instead, he gets a useless fire ball. Sheik has never used the Light Arrow and now that Zelda and Sheik are separate characters the fact that they still both use it is jarring.

But nope, Pit, Dedede, Kirby get the new ones while they all remain the same. And yeah, Metaknight will definitely get a new one too because its beyond obvious (and has been since Brawl) that Sakurai's characters get special treatment over a lot of the more important Nintendo characters.

More examples of just how freaking dense they are in making this game. That doesn't remotely make sense.

Meta Knight gets the Galacta Knight alt? That's cool. I might not feel like such a dick for picking him, then :p
Though Galacta Knight uses a lance, so I'm curious how they accommodate for that.

Concerning Final Smashes, I actually really liked Dedede's. Sure, it wasn't super game accurate, but I liked the dance and the Waddle Dees/Doos parading around. It fit the character and the tone...To give him a new one is unnecessary, considering that DK's Final Smash still sucks bricks (It would've been so much better if DK could've gotten Rambi or something rather than the flipping bongos...)
