Bingo. I honestly could never get use to it, and I watched it every morning before school. It just did utterly nothing for me and it made them goofy and childish looking to me.

The art style certainly was a love it or hate it kind of thing. For me though, it was really charming and I couldn't get enough of it. I loved it so much I bought both volumes of the AllSpark Almanac, and I think Animated has continued to be stable on my list of favourite Transformers series as others have fallen a bit.

I personally loved the artstyle for animated.

I really liked the art style, it was simple but dynamic and every transformer looked unique, the designs also turned into badass toys.

I daresay, Animated Optimus is probably my favourite Optimus. Its Megatron has to compete with Beast Megatron, though. :D

Called kiddy crap when released. A year later called one of the best entries in it's franchise :lol

Here's how I rank the Transformers shows:

G1- Doesn't really hold up at all. Animation style is weak & storytelling is virtually nonexistent.

Beast Wars- really brought me into the franchise. CG is dated by modern standards but great cast & very well fleshed out characters.

Beast Machines- FUCKING GARBAGE. Takes everything I liked from the last show & feeds it into a fire. I hate everything about it.

RID- Can't remember too much about it; wish they would remember who owns it & put out a new DVD release.

Armada- rushed into production and it shows; the animation is lazy & the script barely matches actions. A few good ideas but ultimately a failure.

Energon- Probably the worst series ever made (and yes, I consider it even worse than the live-action films). Lousy animation and atrocious story pacing.

Cybertron- Much better animation but story still suffers badly. Hasn't aged well.

Animated, as I stated before, is my favorite- a tremendous balancing act between childish fantasy & dramatic storytelling. Ended way too soon & I will always regret the fact that we never got an Omega Supreme toy from this series. Its my ultimate lost Grail....

The recently-concluded Prime was pretty good overall; some of the best graphics Transformers has ever had & a decent cast. Suffers a bit in a few storytelling aspects (not paced well & some interesting angles are never followed up on properly) but still very worth a watch.

The armada Optimus was my personal favorite, hi's voice was awesome.

I must be one of the few that actually loved Beast Machines. It had some faults I guess, but I felt it was still quite competently made.

Totally. I thought that of both those things when I was younger, then I matured and stopped saying stupid things like "This is for little kids!" :lol

I seriously regret not watching TFA as it came out.

On Prime? I thought season 1 was great, then season 2 squandered all of season one's setup. I haven't finished season 3 yet. :o

Well to be fair, it is for little kids, but doesn't mean it isn't amazing for us too. :D

Loved the cameo of the 80's turtles, that was fun.

How can you pick Armada in specific when Chalk provided the voice from Beast Wars to Cybertron, from 96 to 06.
What did he do in Armada that separated that Prime from the group?

and I watched a few Beast Wars episodes, and the animation looks like garbage, as it REALLY hasn't aged well. However, the voice acting and characters are so good, that I could almost ignore the animation.

It was...Decent. I don't agree that it's an awful show, but it's a major step down from Beast Wars.

However, I watched the premiere and the moment Starscream slapped a bomb on Megatron, I knew it'd be a good show :lol

Prime is...A mixed bag. I don't hate it as much as so many others do, but I can completely see where everyone's problems come from.

To be fair, Chalk sounded kinda different in the Unicron Trilogy than he did in the Beast Era. There was a bit of techno babble autotune crap in his voice, along with the rest of the cast.
But yeah, Grand Galaxy Convoy is kinda not that good.

Does it really count as a show for little kids when it handles the concept of war in a lot more grey manner? It's not just "We're good, they're evil" like so many other TF series were.

I watched Energon which is a sequel so it was the same Optimus with a cooler design. I never got why Cybertron is in that trilogy.

Beast Wars animation is a bit of a knee-jerk initially, in this day and age. However, when your eyes get used to it, you start to see how they've gradually improved over the seasons. The detail in Season 3, while still not up to modern standards, is stunning compared to Season 1. And by the time they reach Beast Machines, it is almost competent by today's standards.

Yeah, it does feel like a step down from Beast Wars. Still, once you get used to this rebranding of Beast Wars, it's actually not that bad, and just gets better. One thing I will say, this Cheetor is my absolute favourite. He went from annoying kid in Beast Wars Season 1 to competent leader by the end of Beast Machines.

It wasn't at first, the original show was standalone, when they brought it to western audiences they decided to make it a sequel too Energon.

But there's no connection.

Bingo, Galaxy Force (Cybertron) had no connection to Superlink (Energon) or Micron Legend (Armada), it was just a stupid choice to try to adapt it as a sequel.

Yeah, but hearing so many people dropping it, and seeing all the negativity really brought me down.

Which I like because I really liked Cybertron.

Though I will admit, the Velocitron and Space Bridge Voyage were rather tedious.

I did like the art style though. CG Robots with traditionally animated Humans. And the whole "Omega Frequency" thing made the kids less useless.

I don't care what you say, Cybertron is my Transfromers Goseiger.

Some, and I must take this opportunity to once again say that I really like PelleK. His Power Rangers medley was awesome.

The problem with BM was that, while it expanded on Cheetor's character, they killed Silverbolt's, Rhinox's, Rattrap's, and even Primal's characters to do so. It did a lot right (I loved Strika and Obsidian, not only with their inversion of the big guy/small girl archetype, but their characters as a whole. Obsidian's obsession with serving Cybertron being really great), but the good new characters are countered with annoying ones, like Nightscream.

I get what you mean. I thought at least that Silverbolt, Rattrap and Primal were redeemed by the end. But Rhinox's character assassination was just plain disappointing.

Most of the new characters, sans Nightscream, were great.

Primal was redeemed through his sacrifice, but the problem with Silverbolt and Rattrap was that they were given new problems that they never had. Rattrap, the one willing to infiltrate the enemy ship and plant bombs, while it's still occupied, willing to participate in every firefight, is now afraid to face down against 3 drones?
Silverbolt, chivalrous knight, now can't go a sentence without talking about how dark his heart is now?
It was like they wanted to use new characters, but didn't want to pull a Rhinox on all of them, so they fundamentally changed them to better fit the more cliched archetypes so the stories could be simpler.

The new characters were mostly fine. I had no issues with the likes of Botanica or whats his name (The one with 2 beast modes), but the only one that played a major role was Nightscream, to my ire...

I felt Rattrap and Silverbolt were okay, in that I could sort of see how they could end up like that. I mean, it takes a bit of justification, but it's possible. Like how Rattrap's confidence came mostly from his resourcefulness, which was all but eliminated in his new form, or how Silverbolt was broken.

I mean, it's takes a bit of mental gymnastics, but it's possible to reconcile.
