Beat can fire disorientating sound waves. That alone pretty much makes Gen godmode if he would use it more than ONCE.
Smokescreens are always useful.
Flashbangs even more so.
Water he's proven can be useful, since though the nozzle points downward, it still fires at a high enough pressure.
Pen materializes what he writes into solid metal.
Hand gives him a 3rd arm on his leg.
And Net can create energy fields to trap opponents.

Gen's switches are all strong in and of themselves, without requiring some convoluted combination.

Having a 3rd arm, writing in metal, and firing water still aren't incredibly useful in general combat without a context. I totally maintain that none of his switches are totally useless, it's just that he has to sort of be "creative" when it comes to how he uses certain ones. I use the word creative lightly because the trump card was always whatever switch had just been finished by Kengo, but it felt a lot like an inexperienced, lucky superhero should. I know you mentioned Spiderman as a guy who has to make do with a really simple set of powers, and while that's true, if you look at a series like The Spectacular Spiderman, he would always win out of some lucky bout of creativity, rather than sheer force. That's how a lot of Fourze's fights felt to me, even if his first instinct was to go in with Rocket and Winch.

Aero isn't that useless, I do agree with your point of Stealth being underused though.

The difference is Spidey makes due with his webs. Using it as a literal all purpose tool. Despite making use of it every fight, his fights aren't always just "Web opponent, use webs to throw things"
Fourze, on the other hand, always uses the same general tactic. While his Switch choice is different, Gen never deviates from the "Run at him" strategy. Rocket, Claw, Chain Array, Elec, Giant Foot, Pen. It didn't matter. The only time he changed up is when he used one of his 4 distance weapons (And even then, he was still running at them with Fire).

And I'll concead he powerspammed Cosmic. Never even tried anything else most times, he just went right for the switch.

Cosmic was a tease and, ultimately, a disappointment.
When he used it well, it was awesome. But for the majority of his fights, Cosmic would only show up for the Finisher (i.e. THE LAMEST PART).

Well, keep in mind that the Fourze suit wasn't designed for combat, it was designed for space exploration. Ostensibly all of the switches should be useful in some way for an astronaut - key word "ostensibly."

I heard a theory - probably on HJU Radio - that Kengo's father designed the switches while he was dying on the moon and that some of the stranger switches were the results of him running out of oxygen. I like that theory almost as much as the one that Yuuki's increasing dementia is a result of standing too close to Gentaro when he transforms and getting exposed to cosmic radiation.

You're generalizing it. Spidey's fights can be summed in "Try hitting enemy, enemy is too tough, swing around and hit enemy with object in environment, web up opponent". If Spidey had a weapon for every random crane, cement mixer, metal pole, what have you, it could be turned into the same complaint you have with Fourze. The difference is that Fourze has to sell 30+ melee weapons, while other heroes that have to be creative with their all-purpose tools are free to use whatever else is written in.
Fourze did some cool stuff with his weapons too. Using Board with Winch and hitching a ride on the Meteostar, using Shield, Aero and Scoop to try and capture the Fly Zodiart, everything he did in Cosmic forms debut. If you could consider the Fourze Driver his "all-purpose tool", I don't see how that's very much different from other superheroes.

I already know I'm generalizing it. Ichigou had a stick. Den-O had a broom. Fourze would have a Stick Switch and a Broom Switch.

I have a bias against Fourze because he fights in the exact manner that I hate. "Did hitting him really hard work? No? Hit him again with a different switch." Repeat ad infinitum.
That, and coupled with his outright refusal to use any instantly non-offensive switch (Turn invisible with Stealth? Fire disorientating sound waves with Beat? Blind opponents with Flash? Nah. Just use Rocket) just annoyed me.

If he were to be too smart, what would the villains do ? :lol

Sorry if this is considered double posting, but I just finished Den-O I really liked it. Seig also said exacty what I was thinking, why didn't Ryoutaro mention him? The final battle was really cool, I was hoping that Kai's death would come from Den-O or Zeronos, but turning to dust and disappearing is ok too. It's funny, when they were talking about Airi's unborn child I was thinking "wouldn't that be crazy if it were Hana?" And yeah :lol also Urataros' double-double crossing was interesting. So...does New Den-O, I beleive his name is Kotaro? Replace Ryoutaro, or does Ryoutaro return?

The first Kotaro is an older version of the one seen in I'm Born (Just a younger Ryotaro). They soon drop him entirely and just make the Imagin Den-O, though. The second Kotaro is Ryotaro's Grandson from the future, New Den-O.

The movies of Den-O are what first confused me. Since the actor who played Ryotaro, apparently, didn't want to be in them they kept switching characters and powers. They should've started with what they ended up doing anyway. Using Momotaros. Less confusing, and just better.

Actually, the decision to use Momo was one of the worst, imo.
It pretty much permanently limits Den-O to Sword and (Super) Climax form.

It limits him. But it made more sense than bringing in a new actor every movie.

They only brought in one, and he was in I'm Born, Den-O's first movie, so he was already established in continuity.
I'd much rather have a child actor and get to see Rod, Gun, and Axe forms again than have Momo and never see anything beyond Sword.

They used the other forms in other movies though. DiEnd shot out Riders and they possessed them, and I think they used them in the movie with Negataros.

Still working through Den-O and OOO, up to about episode 25 on both series, so no spoilers please :p . I'm enjoying Den-O a lot, I really like Ryotarou as a character. OOO is just plain amazing. I love the constant love-hate relationship between Ankh and Eiji, as well as the fact that either is willing to betray the other at any moment. I also dug Gamel and Mezool's child-mother-ish relationship, even if Mezool is manipulative. And Birth. Oh man, Date is the best. I'm liking the foreshadowing oh how Gotou could become Birth eventually too. I'm assuming another greeed will show up at some point since I know the PuToTyra combo exists, and I can't wait to see it. OOO is by far my favorite series as of now

I'm wondering why you think that. The first one was pretty cool as a secret weapon kinda thing, but they just became gratuitous after that. If this guy can pull them out of thin air, and Blade can immediately destroy one in King Form, then it's even more rinse and repeat than the generic Undead of the week.

Well...since Ribieconvoy doesn't want spoilers I'll put spoiler tags on my thoughts for the Final Countdown movie Koutaro was kind of a jerk at first, I like Teddy though. Personality wise, he's kind of like Deneb. Yuuki's design is kinda cool, and tops that raise the dead? Ok? It was nice to see Koutaro visit Ryoutaro after ge got dropped off back in his own time. Speaking of Koutaro/New Den-O who is the blonde haired dude in that movie with the dystopian future where Shocker takes over? I do want the Strike Form figuart though, I like how Teddy is a Gunblade. I don't get why there are suddenly 6 Den-O belts, but whatever. It's always nice to see Seig.

I like the designs and the fact that represent a major curveball in the battle between the Riders and Undead.

Koutaro started as a dick but he got pretty tolerable pretty quick and Teddy is just awesome all around. And Yuuki was a great villain with a great design, in both forms. As for the multiple Den-O's being on screen at once, that's my favorite moment in rider history. It's not all that farfetched either for owner to have multiple belts. Look at what happened in the first Den-O film, they needed 4 Den-O's at once. He could have created more belts in response to that, seeing as their only option there was time travel shenanigans. The movie itself is my absolute favorite of all the Den-O films and most rider films in general.

Generally anything Owner does is awesome. I'm almost completely convinced that the appearance of the Kikaiders, Inazuman, and Zubat in OOO/Den-O Let's Go is that crazy bastards doing. He must be an Ishinimori fan :lol Also I forgot to mention in my last post that the blonde guy Let's Go is also Kotaro. He just dyed his hair between movies apparently.

So after seven months I have finished Faiz...minus the movie. I'll get to that at some point over the next few days.

First off, I love the suits in Faiz, both the rider and Orphenoch designs are awesome.

And thats really all the praise I have for this series. I swear you could cut it down to 15 maybe 20 episodes tops? I'll sum up my issues with it as quickly as possible. Your characters are supposed to be like real people. People talk to each other, especially close friends, about things. Dramatic irony certainly doesn't work here, its overused and ultimately pointless. Belts go flying everywhere. Look, orphenochs do a cool thing where they embrace their animal side a bit more an become a centaur or rhino hybrid... oh no just those two do that. Kusaka, whilst having one of the most grim (?) deaths I have seen on a Kamen rider show, was a complete and utter (insert strongest obscenity of your choice). And was one for seemingly no reason. There are so many pointless plot threads that ultimately get dropped that its unreal. And that ending, what the heck?

I could probably go on, but I wont.

So yeah, overall it's the worst series I have watched. It's painfully slow, dull and at times nonsensical.

Faiz is a huge mess, yeah. It's so weird to think that the guy that wrote it is the same guy who did Jetman and Agito. Even Kiva, which I am not a fan of, generally is much better than Faiz. There's too much over the top melodrama, too many plot holes, and too many places where the characters are clearly being manipulated by the writers into making their current situation worse for no clear reason. The designs really are great, though.

I actually don't like a lot of the Faiz deigns, so I should probably never watch it. :lol

I'm just never watching it.
I pushed better series onto the tracks for less. And I hate melodrama.

It'd be a bit more passable if it had any sort of emotional pay off, but it doesn't. Well not for me at least. I just felt myself going, well it's about time or well that was pointless..

@switch, am I right in assuming the movie isn't canonical to the series? And I should abandon any hope of proper closure to the series?
