I’m doing better now physically. So are my cats. But I feel life has me perpetually frustrated.
|
It actuallly feels weird to not watch the new Kamen Rider for the first time since 2009.
|
Meanwhile I'm actually tempted to watch as it airs for the first time in a long time. I know I won't, since I much prefer binging, but still, I'm liking what I've seen of Saber so far.

Finished setting up my turntable and such today and... the needle broke.

Still, I'm sorry that in 2020, even simple pleasures are elusive and hard-fought. Don't give up! |

I have been at the Beach since Saturday night. The Internet is not the best, but the 4K TV is amazing. I watched The Matrix on this big ass screen and it felt like that I was watching the movie for the first time all over again.

Here’s a quick text exchange I had with a friend earlier. I assume this is going to be pretty relatable for at least some of you.
--- FRIEND: What is Fort Night FRIEND: (nephew) is playing this ME: Did you ever see the movie Battle Royale? FRIEND: No ME: Okay, that makes explaining it a little harder. ME: It’s a game where a group of players are dropped on an island and they have to eliminate one another. *note: I have never played Fortnite.* FRIEND: Okay, sure, I know what a battle Royale is ME: But there’s an ever-shrinking amount of safe space on the island. You go outside that space, you die. FRIEND: Like that game where you can pick from all the characters and you fight each other FRIEND: Mario, link, peach, etc ME: It’s a fast-paced, cartoony version of a Battle Royale. ME: Yeah, but more guns. ME: Fortnite is, no joke, the most popular video game in the world. FRIEND: Well now I’m embarrassed I didn’t know it ME: Well, you’re outside their target demo of 8 to 15-year olds, so don’t beat yourself up. ME: Also, knowing that when you’re like I Need To Know About This Thing For Children, that I’m your go-to, and I can answer it… not feeling super good about myself! FRIEND: It was more a I Need To Know About This Video Game thing ME: That your nephew, who is a child, plays. FRIEND: Knowing my brother, it very well might not have been for children. FRIEND: You were meant to be the video game reference FRIEND: Not the children’s toys reference ME: But I *would* be the children’s toys reference. ME: Admit it. FRIEND: Noooo FRIEND: I mean --- How many of you find yourself fielding these types of random questions from friends and family? |

Oh man this brings back a funny memory from earlier this year.
So basically my dad got a Switch to entertain us during the lockdown. The Switch came with Fortnite. We decided to play (we've never played Fortnite before). My younger sister tried first. She won because her strategy was to hide the whole time and just shoot the last person remaining. I lost because I suck at shooter games. My da's turn is where it gets interesting. As my dad had no idea whatsoever how to play Fortnite so we guided him through the basics (gather material, build shelters, switch out weapons, etc.). We found a helicopter. My dad decided to ride it for fun. So anyways my dad was riding the helicopter. Then we noticed that the storm (the barrier) was closing in. Soon we were inside a tiny space with the only player left. So we had this crazy idea: we were gonna wait for the storm to close into a really small space and then drop the helicopter on top of the sucker. So we waited. The storm grew smaller. As it was small enough, we decided to drop the chopper. And then tragedy struck. Now, I don't know if this is a glitch or a game mechanic to prevent wild players like us from coming up with this idea, but after a certain level the helicopter refused to go any lower. We freaked out wondering what to do next. The other player, on the other hand, knew EXACTLY what to do next. Next thing we knew the other player was unloading their rounds upon our helicopter. We exploded mid-air and that was the end of it. So yeah, good times. |
I should've phrased my question a little better. I was wondering if any of you, with your devotion to action figures and Japanese superheroes, find yourselves as the assumed authority on all things childish and pop-culture for your friends and family.

It's nice to be back home after being stuck in a car for 5+ hours. I feel so burned out, but I also want to go outside and take a nice hike at the same time.

Hey so I have a dilemma.
I am reorganizing my room. I have two sets of shelves one set in my closet and one set (consisting of several cabinets) outside of it. The cabinets in my closet are long and relatively tall (about the perfect height for a Combiner Wars combiner to scrape the top). They're long and can fit lots of tfs, the best part is they're two identical shelves so I can keep the bots and cons kind of symmetrical/even. The other shelves have a bit less space, but are outside the closet and offer a higher roof. I really like the closet set up but I want people to see my TFs, so what do you think should go in the closet my Gunpla or TFs? |

Either way, we all expect pics when you're set up! |
I'm also having a dilemma, I think. Turns out I cut my gunplas wrong. I never used the double cut method, I just cut straight, and then sand the nub marks away.
But trying the double cutting method it kinda stressed me out lol. |

Of course then again I tend to paint them so I suppose it's not too big of an issue for me. |

And when I rotate things out and I feel like I don't want to display some, maybe its time to let it go. I also use this process as an opportunity to dust off the ones in display. It is not open air, but dust still manages to get to them! |
I bought Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth for the Nintendo Switch for $20 yesterday. Now I just need to get a Nintendo Switch lol.

I ended up finishing my work late because my mom asked me to go buy a bucket of chicken in the nearest McDonald's (which was about 4 streets away). I ended up having to wait for about half an hour to get my order. Then after getting back home we just found out that the bucket was missing 2 pcs of chicken. So I had to walk back there and tell the cashier that they owe me 2 pcs of chicken which they added in without any fuss and even added in some soup as an apology.

Gashat, I need serious help. I haven't started painting yet, but I bought Mr Colors for hand painting, although I heard they're not suited for hand painting? But I really don't have the room/spare money for airbrush atm so now I'm stuck. Do I need to buy a thinner for hand painting it?

My good buddy has now left back to upstate. The time went by way too fast, but it was great being able to see him again. We played DnD, he watched two episodes of the GARO anime with me, he showed me a bunch of funny YT vids, and we spent alot of time talking and catching up. Time well spent, I'd say.

If you're starting off painting, use acrylic-based paint (like Tamiya), not enamel. Enamel paint requires thinner so it doesn't eat through your Gunpla's plastic and is quite possibly hazardous to your health when wet. EDIT: BTW If you're gonna use Mr. Color brand paint, you need to use Mr. Thinner to properly use those things. For more information visit this website: http://www.mr-hobby.com/en/itemDetail.php?iId=87 EDIT 2: Oh, also, I just found out that Mr Colors are lacquer paints, which explain the need for thinner. However, lacquer paint fumes are toxic to humans and are usually used by professionals. I recommend switching to Tamiya acrylic paint (which are non-toxic). But if you have a gas mask and a well ventilated area, good for you, just open your window. |
