Oh boy, we got an OOOs cast on our hands, then?

But the seemingly important Koyumi gives her best wallpaper impression and Shunpei (Outside of the Grandmother arc) doesn't do much of anything. I don't think Wajima was ever important... |

At least Wajima had a defined purpose from the beginning, even if we have no idea how he talks to the stones or makes the rings this close to the end, but whereas new rings were once a regular occurrence earlier on I actually can't remember the last time Haruto got a ring. The Infinity Ring was from within or whatever. |

I'm feeling like I made the wrong decision with Kabuto. I know I'm only five episodes in so I'll give it more time but;
Call Haruto bland if you want but I like him, Tendou reminded me of him a lot but he doesn't seem to have any of Haruto's humour or well...charm. Hiyori is basically Bella Swan but somehow comes across like an even greater bitch. And although I admire characters like the Zect...dude...the fact I don't even remember his name says everything. His character arc basically finished in episode four and yet I barely know a thing about this guy. Then episode five just awkwardly added further family drama for him, for kicks and just meh. And the hinted love triangle crap is even more off putting. Plus as cool as the Clock On/Off gimmick is, I'm five episodes in and we've basically not moved out of the Putty stage of enemies, with every fight over in a flash. I know I said myself I like classic heroes and escapism but I don't like classic heroes that are so archaic they breeze through every action sequence. I find it impossible to be engaged in an action scene if there isn't even any artificial tension or suggestion that the hero might loose. So far I think Tendou only ever took damage because he refused to fight back. |
Tendou loses one fight in the entire series. And even then, he loses because he's emotionally broken and the next episode he kicks his ass anyway.
I love Kagami. But writing off character development as "for kicks" means it's nebulous to continue (Seriously. One thread you're bitching that characters are pointless and do nothing. And when a series starts working on and building a character that's not the titular character, you write it off?) As Split can tell you, Kabuto is not a series for everyone. If you don't like it, there's always...Ryuki? *Shrugs* |
I used the expression 'for kicks' because the plotting in this series has thus far been awful.
Tendou wants Bella's v because...she makes a nice soup? Zect guy's arc finished in episode four shit...err...*insert random, completely disconnected 20 second scene where Zect's Dad appears says something ominous and Zect gets mad, now we won't reference this happened for the whole rest of the episode* I'll give it a few more episodes and if it doesn't do anything for me I'll move to Kuuga. |

Wizard 4: So, he can run out of mana? Oh boy, I can smell the contrived "oh no, I can't fix this easily solved problem because I just happen to be out of mana!" already.
EDIT: And starting 5... so cat monster (I find that offensive) just leaves him... because? Damn, and I though the mana was contrived. EDIT 2: So, are all the gates going to be gigantic asshats like this penis? EDIT 3: I meant "pianist." EDIT 4: Actually no I didn't. |
