Which was the first Sentai to have CGI mech battles? I always assumed it was Gaoranger, since the pre-transformation mechs are all CGI, but I've since found out that wasn't the case.
|
I always assumed it was Timeranger, since that series was rather CG heavy, from what I heard.
|
Edit: I kind of answered my own question here, so disregard.

What is worst Sentai Show that have much better Power Rangers
I heard Go-Onger wasn't beloved by Sentai Fans because they don't like the goofy stuff but their Power Rangers Counterpart, RPM was more beloved than Go-Onger because it's Mad Max meet Power Rangers I heard many people was very upset when Samurai established RPM as Alternate Universe and only have 1 Ranger but he never took off his mask For Best Sentai Show but have Much Worse Power Rangers Power Rangers Samurai wasn't great as Shinkenger because Copy and Paste Shinkenger into Power Rangers Samurai! |
There is a lot of Sentai shows that I feel like was great, but had a worst PR version like Carranger/Turbo, Gokaiger/Super Megaforce, etc. I did enjoy Magiranger over Mystic Force and Zeo over Ohranger (I could not get into it. Maybe a second chance will help). I did like Zyuranger, Dairanger and Kakuranger over MMPR Season 1-3. To me, MMPR has aged like milk. The show is bad to watch again despite me having a lot of nostalgia for it. Even without comparing it to Sentai, I still find MMPR to be bad.

A lot of people tend to find any given Sentai superior, so it's nothing new. I'm most curious about the first question than the second. I didn't like Go-On, so RPM. |

I thought Dino Charge was enjoyable than Kyoruyger. I also did like Kyoruyger too. I also thought RPM was better than Go-onger. Go-onger was way too campy for my taste.
|
From what I've seen
MMPR Season 1 over Zyuranger Carranger over Turbo Megaranger over In Space Lost Galaxy=Gingaman Dino Thunder over Abaranger(by a close margin) Boukenger over Operation Overdrive Shinkenger over Samurai I haven't seen much Post-Zyu or Pre-Zyu sentai in general, but yeah. |

It's been so long since I've actually watched Power Rangers (other than seeing it on tv and watching about 2 minutes tops) but I remember liking In Space a ton, and I thought Megaranger was just kind of boring. |

I've seen pretty much all the PR sans for MMPR Season 3, RPM, Megaforce and Super Megaforce and the current Dino Charge, so that may compensate for it :lol I'm actually in the minority who doesn't like In Space as much as other people, I prefer other seasons to it, and for a reason Mega just clicked for me so well, but people have different opinions. Like not many people love Lightspeed, Wild Force or Dino Thunder as much as I do. |
A lot of people have fond memories of Dino Thunder. I think a lot of people enjoyed it.
...Wild Force, though :lol |
Well not anymore, people tend to sadly bash on the season a lot now, I grew up on Dino Thunder and I still love it to this day.
Wild Force is a rather underrated season in my eyes, sure it has it's problems but what PR season doesn't? It has some underrated gems of episodes and story and an enjoyable cast; I think I gravitate towards Danny as my favorite PR Black lol due to the lack of them in what I've seen. I love it. |
The only horrendous sin of Wild Force is also present in Gaoranger. Animus/GaoGod is a thing that just... bogs the entire thing down for me.
|
Super Sentai ain't Super Sentai without Sixth Rangers

But for Wild Force, it's just a case of the annoyingly heavy handed "Protect the environment" message, the mediocre acting (Which every season has, but Cole, our protagonist, is just bad), and the bad characters. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty to enjoy about it (I love Max and Danny), but it's not too surprising why so many people are against it these days. |

Yeah, the Wild Force acting wasn't very good, but for some reason I loved the cast, I liked how they went the normal "Sentai-like" route with the female duo, by having a serious no nonsense Yellow and a sweet white, and I also really do like Max and Danny, as I said Danny might be my favorite PR Black(Adam and him, I don't gravitate towards PR Blacks much, I hated Carlos as a kid and hate Will, so yeah). But I do enjoy it. Dino Thunder can be looked upon in multiple various ways, and depending on what angle you look at it is how you think about the season if it makes any sense lol. |
I just enjoyed Dino Thunder because it just felt like a breath of fresh air, strangely. They were still in high school, but they didn't go full on 90's (Like Ninja Storm, which I hated). Connor was an athlete, but didn't participate in everything mildly sports related, just what he enjoyed, Kira was a bit of a cliche, but she wasn't a full on valley girl, while Ethan was a nerd and rather smart, but couldn't build a damn time machine in his backyard with a spring and a battery.
After surf ninjas, Dino Thunder actually felt rather grounded, which I enjoyed. They did get cheesy at times (More than just Lost and Found in Translation), but it's just something you deal with in PR. For Wild Force, that season's only real appeal to me was the designs. The story really didn't interest me, while the themes of pollution and the like was just pushed too much. |
What I loved about the three DT rangers is how even if the three possessed some High School stereotypes, they did more than that, for example Conner really finds out that he really gets along with his fellow rangers, Ethan has style and can fight for himself, and Kira's not just a weird Avril wannabe, but is very kind and sweet like Ranru.
I actually really like Ninja Storm lol, it was my first season so I'm partial to it but I liked it, found it funny. Dustin's my go to favorite Yellow ranger alongside Kira, and loved Cam and Tori as well. |
I just couldn't deal with Ninja Storm.
I watched it as it aired, but it was always just because it was Saturday morning and the other channel didn't have anything better :lol |
Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder are some of my least favorite of the PR seasons and the Sentais are so much better to me. Ninja Storm just failed in terms of it being more comedic and humor compared to Hurricanger which has humor, but Ninja Storm seemed to push harder and more into that comedic style. Dino Thunder is just bleh for me and the characters are just bland and stereotypical for any show set in high school.
|
Ninja Storm just felt so desperate.
They're ninjas, something kids almost always find to be awesome, but apparently someone thought they weren't cool enough, so they made them all participate in extreme sports and use 90's slang. I really, really couldn't get behind it. |
Yeah, even as a kid it wasn't that great. I still watched it because Power Rangers, but it was definitely the first season that started making me not want to watch. Until Cam became a ranger, that's when I lost my shit and loved the show until it went back to its usual shit.
|
I think the last PR season I watched was In Space. I remember seeing a couple of episodes of Lost Galaxy and bought the Megazord (half of which was stolen -_-) but that's when I started to outgrow it.
Here I am, in my mid-20s, watching Super Sentai. |
I watched up to RPM. I never really grew out of it because I'm a dork like that.
I migrated over to Sentai not because it's superior, but simply because I ran out of Power Rangers to watch :p |
I grew out of it and I grew out of it hard. When I was about 19 or 20 my little brother had gotten into it (7 or 8) so I played with some of the toys with him again, but other than that I never got back into it. I got into Sentai when I was going through my Godzilla phase and then got burnt out on it when everybody else I knew became obsessed with it too, so I looked elsewhere to get my toku fix.
I still can't do power rangers. The goofy names, poor dubbing, and awful acting is just too cringe-worthy. Every time I've tried watching an episode on tv I just couldn't do it. Sentai for me. |
I watched up until the end of Mystic Force originally. Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, and SPD especially wore me down and diminished my enjoyment of the series. I just watched Mystic Force because of the medieval setting...too bad it had annoying characters and a bad story. But obvious I came around since I'm watching Dino Charge and eventually watched RPM and loved it to death.
|
I watched PR since 2003, I was very, very young when I started Ninja Storm and watched all the way up to Jungle Fury, watching older seasons in that time period as well. I stopped when Jetix was destroyed(I'm still kinda sad about it, it was a pretty big part of my life and it had awesome shows) and moved more towards Sentai, with Shinkenger in 2009, and obviously saw Samurai and SS, but fell out of the Toku loop in 2013/2014(I can't remember because I remember finishing Zyuranger before I "quit") and came back.
|
I loved the first three seasons of MMPR as a child, but only remember parts of it. I remember when the show became Power Rangers Zeo, but know basically nothing about that season. I moved away from toku shows in general.
Then a few years ago one of my friends bugs me to watch Gokaiger with him, and I pass on it. I'm curious anyway, so I go on a Google/Wiki safari to learn about all of the Super Sentai I had missed. Kind of blew my mind that it had been going on since 1975. I was intrigued, but not enough to actually watch anything. A few months ago I'm hanging out with that same friend, and he brings over Zyuranger DVDs. I was fascinated. Loved 'em. That leads directly to me going on a Super Sentai-watching binge; in less than two months I finished four seasons and got about halfway through three others. When I get into something, I go big. |
I watched PR starting with MMPR. I loved the hell out of that show. I watched consistently up until Mystic Force, which I wasn't super keen over, and only really followed it if it happened to air and nothing better was on (Since I tended to just relax with Toon Disney or Jetix or Disney XD or whatever it was called on the TV). I kind of came back for Operation Overdrive, but it was only for the Once A Ranger two parter. I tried to continue watching it, but I just hated that show. Thinking about it, Jungle Fury was the first series I never watched, and I don't really know why. It wasn't because I was "Growing out" of it or anything. Perhaps it was due to Disney's eclectic scheduling of it? I dunno. Came back after the fact for RPM (Missed a lot of it, but I soon managed to see it in full).
It was around then that I started with Super Sentai, that being Shinkenger. At that point, my brother tried to get me into another franchise, Kamen Rider, so I joined that ride, too. The Kamen Rider he started me with was the then airing series. Decade. ... Yep. So I basically shifted over to Sentai and KR not because I found it superior (Though I did) but mainly because, at the time, it was just MMPR reruns for Power Rangers, so there wasn't much worth watching on the American front. However, I can't watch Jungle Fury because I cannot fairly assess it because Gekiranger was too perfect for this sinful world. |

Geez. I was around when the series started lol. I don't actually remember when I started. The earliest one I remember premiering was Turbo, but I know I started before that. I'm fairly certain I started in the MMPR years. I watched the MMPR movie a ton as a kid, but I don't remember if I watched it when it came out or not. I could probably ask my mom. If I had to guess, I would say either mid-late first season or early second season. |
Man, just when I was used to Sentai being the resident old man around here...I saw the MMPR movie in theaters :lol
